Counter-Moonbattery Alert: Fish Fry in Texas
Posted by The MaryHunter at 7:53 PM | Comments (52)
Some states just keep reminding us that there is, in fact, hope. Here's a story from Tejas:
PASADENA, Texas - Authorities say a Houston-area woman who was burned up at her former common-law husband fried their pet goldfish and ate some of them.
Police spokesman Vance Mitchell says the man reported on Saturday that the woman took the goldfish from his apartment.
Mitchell says the two argued earlier about some jewelry the man had given her but took back. She wanted the jewelry returned.
Officers who were dispatched to the woman's home arrived to find four fried goldfish on a plate. The woman said she already ate the other three.
Why is this a story worthy of coverage, dear readers? Because
Pasadena police say it's a civil matter and no charges will be filed.
Imagine, if you will, this story taking place in Seattle, NYC, or Heaven forbid, Berkeley. Our heroine, who was only expressing her emotions (a highly valued lib trait) at her Indian-giving spouse (the bastard), would have landed on death row, or at least gotten 3-5 years, for animal cruelty.

Berkeley Signs UN Treaties
Posted by Van Helsing at 10:53 AM | Comments (56)
Unwilling to wait for the kakistocracy in DC to drag the entire country down to its level on unhinged moonbattery, Berkeley is signing United Nations treaties as if it were a sovereign country:
Berkeley became the first city in the United States, and possibly the world, to agree to international human rights treaties on Tuesday night, after the City Council approved a measure usually reserved for countries.
After a brief but spirited debate, the City Council voted unanimously to allow unpaid interns to report to the United Nations on how, or whether, Berkeley complies with treaties on civil liberties, racial discrimination and torture.
Uh oh, Berserkeley may be in for a sternly worded letter of reprimand from the UN:
The treaties contain high standards, and it is possible Berkeley does not meet those standards, backers of the plan said.
They have used as examples Berkeley's record on homelessness, achievement gaps in the public schools and John Yoo, the author of the Bush administration's justification for torture who teaches at UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law and lives in Berkeley.
If the goons in blue helmets ever start enforcing their absurd resolutions, Berkeley residents are advised to lock up their children — not that many people in their right minds would try to raise children in the Bay Area anyway.
Commenter WarEagle82 at Michelle Malkin has more news from Berkeley:
This just in! The Berkeley City Council, led by the magnificent yet humble Max Anderson, have voted to suspend the law of gravity and have voted that photons must stop behaving as both particles and waves. Gay whale shamans were present to give their blessings.
Film not available due to a sudden darkness that descended over the city after the vote.
Congratulations to Berkeley on its secession from America. Now if only San Francisco and Oakland would follow suit.

Moonbats Figure Out How to Get Normal Americans to Respect Chairman Zero
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:58 AM | Comments (42)
The plan is to wear shirts reading "Respect the President of the United States":

Funny, I didn't see any moonbats wearing these shirts before their Messiah's ascension.
An alternative plan would be for Comrade Obama to do something, anything, that warrants respect. But rather than wait for that to happen, his acolytes made up some T-shirts.

Drudge Wrong, Moonbat Media Screams

When Drudge ran this (via Political Lore Blog):
A local TV station that reported on Chicagoans NOT wanting the Olympics has been told NOT to run the report again, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT!
The Chicago Olympic Committee told FOX Chicago that its broadcast "would harm Chicago's chances" to be awarded the games.
The station's news director ordered staff to hold fire after the report aired once last Thursday morning, claims a source.
The Chicago Sun-Times triumphantly responded under the headline, DRUDGE WRONG ON WEB SITE REPORT:
Chicago 2016 spokesman Patrick Sandusky said he did speak to the Fox news outlet Thursday about possibly doing a follow-up story to the station's first piece after questions about the site arose, but he never demanded they stop reporting on the Web site.
Drudge you liar!
Comrade Obama must enjoy a mainstream media so anxious to do his bidding — just as Chicago's crooked Mayor Richard Daley must enjoy a POTUS so anxious to do his. You have to wonder who knows what in Chicago that would make Chairman Zero forsake his pressing duties and make a complete fool of himself by flying to Copenhagen to lobby on behalf of the infamously corrupt local political establishment that produced him.

ACORN Front Group Nailed for Vote Fraud in New York
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:09 AM | Comments (21)
One reason Comrade Obama and the ultra-left leadership in Congress have shown such open contempt for the consequences their extreme agenda will have at the polls is they have been counting on their foot soldiers in ACORN to tilt the balance with operations like this:
Dozens of forged and fraudulent absentee ballots from people registered to vote on the Working Families Party line were filed in the Sept. 15 primary elections in Troy [New York], the Times Union has learned.
Many of the questionable ballots were filed under the names of students and people who live in government-subsidized housing and other downtown areas. Still others were submitted on behalf of voters who were alleged to have signed the ballots earlier this month, but those people have not lived in New York state for at least a year, records show.
Documents at the county Board of Elections show the fraudulent ballots were handled by or prepared on behalf of various elected officials and leaders and operatives for the Democratic and Working Families parties.
As the Times Union doesn't bother to note:
The Working Families Party is not about working people or families and it isn't really a party. The WFP is a wholly owned subsidiary of ACORN. Bertha Lewis co-chair of the Working Families Party is the Executive Director of New York ACORN. New York ACORN leader, Steven Kest was the moving force in forming the party and WFP headquarters are located at the same address as ACORN's national and New York office at 88 Third Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.
WFP is essentially a money funnel which pays for an aggressive door to door canvas. Largely funded by unions, the WFP is ACORN's "political arm" in New York State. Candidates supported by the Working Families Party and issues supported by ACORN are both advocated on the door steps of target voter homes as they share one major voter canvas.
This would be the same ACORN Obama surreptitiously paid $800,000 for election services during the 2008 campaign.
In the aftermath of the O'Keefe/Giles videos, the Senate voted 83-7 to limit the torrent of taxpayer money flooding into ACORN's coffers. This means nothing. WFP is just one of literally hundreds of front groups ACORN hides behind.
Nothing short of a RICO investigation will rid the country of this rapidly metastasizing cancer. Good luck getting one past the Attorney General with the former Senator From ACORN residing in the White House. If our rulers would be brazen enough to kill an investigation into Black Panther goons intimidating voters at the polls, the odds of them digging up ACORN by the roots are nil. The same corrupt thugs indulging in the same crimes will continue to wallow in our money under different names.

Bette Midler's Village Is Missing Its Idiot
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 5:51 AM | Comments (60)
One is forced to conclude that the dumber a celebrity is, the more likely she is to inform the public of her political opinions. Appearing as a guest on the Joy Behar's talk show, Bette Midler declared that she is "terrified" of Glenn Beck and accused him of fomenting genocide.
"If you look around at the rest of the world and what this kind of behavior has done, like in Rwanda, where the demagogues got on the radio and fomented all that hate between the Tutsis and the Hutus and the devastation that happened from that, I mean, it's terrifying," Midler said.
According to Midler, that's a possibility in the United States.
Midler labeled Glenn Beck's blend of patriotism and muckraking "hate speech." Would anyone be surprised if she had never watched or heard Glenn Beck outside of ... maybe... a few leftist-doctored clips on YouTube?

Right Wing Talk Show Hosts Daydreams About Obama's Assasination
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 4:36 AM | Comments (7)
I guess this kind of hate-speech against the president should not surprise anyone these days.
Beck raises his fingers to signify a gun and mutters: “Bang bang.” He is referring to the possibility of Obama being assassinated. “Just a mysterious lone gunman lurking in the shadows of the capital,” he says in a wry, dreamy way.
Oops, my mistake. It wasn't Glenn Beck. It was Rush Limbaugh. No, wait, it wasn't Rush Limbaugh, it was Sean Hannity. No, wait, it was far-left homosexual author Gore Vidal who was daydreaming about Obama's assassination.
Vidal went on to say that the 2000 Election was a "coup d'etat," that Republicans are fascist racist thugs, and that the USA will soon be under a military dictatorship. Nothing you couldn't see in five minutes of browsing the Democratic Underground Message Board (DUMB), DailyKos, or Stormfront.
But can you imagine the outrage if Beck, Limbaugh, or Hannity had waxed "dreamily" about assassinating Obama?

A Use for Football Stadiums in Changed America
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:44 PM | Comments (46)
After our liberal rulers have banned all allegedly harmful foods and we are living on arugula and water, they may turn their attention to sports. Football, for example, frequently results in injuries. Worse, the sport is sexist; I've yet to see a woman play in the NFL, and a certain unretired quarterback has been ridiculed just for weeping like one. The emphasis on winning instead of whining is unhelpful in a country that stresses multilateral dialogue and social justice. Worst of all, people involved in football lean conservative.
But what to do with all those stadiums after the sport has been abolished? Here's an idea:

Al Franken, the New Senator From ACORN
Posted by Van Helsing at 12:56 PM | Comments (43)
Before he became our Community Organizer in Chief, Comrade Obama was known to some as "the Senator From ACORN" due to his extremely close ties to that nefarious organization. The dubious title now belongs to an equally dubious Senator, who took office after resorting to vote fraud more blatant than you will find in most banana republics. The lame comedian formerly known as Stuart Smalley probably received help from the same Friends of Obama who have proven themselves so consistently eager to assist in child prostitution, slave trafficking, and tax fraud.
From the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
Last year, [ACORN] showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing his run for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the esteem: "I'm thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement," he gushed in a press release. He added that he was "more motivated than ever to work with ACORN." …
ACORN is best-known for its massive voter-registration campaigns, which focus relentlessly on getting Democrats elected in targeted states. Here its record is appalling — and goes to the heart of our democratic electoral system.
In October 2008, ACORN announced triumphantly that it had registered about 1.3 million new voters in 18 battleground states, among them Minnesota. A few weeks later, however, the director of Project Vote — an ACORN affiliate — acknowledged to the New York Times that election officials had rejected about 400,000 of those, for reasons including duplicate registrations, incomplete forms and (in the Times' words) "fraudulent submissions from low-paid field workers trying to please their supervisors."
Nothing new here. ACORN's registration drives "routinely produce fraudulent registrations," according to a staff report released in July 2009 by the ranking Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The report describes ACORN as "a criminal conspiracy" and details violations ranging from unpaid taxes to a million-dollar embezzlement and cover-up. "To date," the report says, "nearly 70 ACORN employees have been convicted in 12 states for voter-registration fraud." …
Here in Minnesota, ACORN has boasted of playing a major role in the 2008 elections. It claims to have registered 43,000 new voters, which it describes as 75 percent of the state's new registrations. Franken's margin of victory in the Senate race was razor-thin: 312 votes out of about 3 million cast. And Minnesota's laws on proof of voter eligibility are notoriously loose. Did ACORN folks pull some fast ones to help get their favorite son Franken elected — a win that handed Democrats the 60-vote, veto-proof majority that they needed to enact their liberal agenda?
Secretary of State Mark Ritchie assures us that Minnesota's system of voter verification protects electoral integrity.
But here's an uncomfortable fact: Ritchie himself was endorsed by the now-notorious ACORN and elected with its help.
Now that James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles have managed to push ACORN's corruption past the liberal establishment media's blockade, Franken has formally voted to throw ACORN under the bus — knowing that it will reemerge under a different name in plenty of time to help him steal his seat again in 2014.

ACORN Founder Seems Bummed About Failed Plot to Kill Republicans

Cap and Trade Will Spread the Wealth Around
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 10:17 AM | Comments (39)
Obama famously told Joe the Plumber he wanted to "spread the wealth around." Now, we know what he meant by that.
According to the Institute for Energy Research, the Cap and Trade bill currently before the Senate would redistribute $14 Billion from the bottom 80% of income earners to the top 20% of income earners.
The Waxman-Markey bill distributes roughly $778 billion in free emission allowances to various politically favored industries and others between 2012 and 2020, at the direct expense of non-favored industries and U.S. consumers. The ultimate impact of this giveaway of emission allowances is to transform the already regressive gross burden of a cap-and-trade system into a highly regressive federal climate policy that effectively redistributes tens of billions of dollars per year from low- and middle-income households to high-income shareholders.
Translation, the bill is set up to increase taxes on the middle-class and transfer those taxes to politically-connected industries.
Also, we recently learned that under Obama, all income levels are declining, but the middle-class is hardest hit. And Obama proposes to transfer even more middle-class wealth to the upper quintile under Cap and Trade.
BTW, in the Least Believable Lie of the Week, John Kerry claims he has no idea what the expression "Cap and Trade" means. He claims the phrase confuses Americans, so he wants his Cap and Trade bill renamed a "Pollution Reduction" bill. The Democrats used a similar line when they voted against posting the contents of the Health Care Bill online so Americans could read it before they voted on it. They said it would "confuse" people. In both cases, what they actually meant was... people were figuring out what they were up to and didn't like it.
If Only Roman Polanski Were a Catholic Priest
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 8:48 AM | Comments (50)
The elite Hollywood left and the elite Euro-left are still rushing to defend rapist pedophile Roman Polanski.
Washed up Hollywood actress Debra Winger speaks for most of the Hollywood elite when she calls those who want Polanski to face justice "Philistines." (I wonder who helped her look up that word.) Dippie leftist Whoopi Goldberg doesn't think drugging and sodomizing a thirteen year old girl really counts as rape. (I suggest that if any of you have a middle-school dance in need of a chaperone, you probably shouldn't ask Whoopi Goldberg.)
As for the Euro-Elites, the French Foreign Minister and Culture Minister were appalled at the desire to prosecute this child rapist, "A scary America that has just shown its face," said the snots. Time Magazine quotes an American ex-pat living in Paris, who vividly illustrated the attitude that led so many of our ancestors to flee the cesspool of Europe.
The French view Polanski as an artist and celebrity and feel he deserves a different kind of treatment than ordinary people, which just isn't an option in the U.S.," says Ted Stanger, an author and longtime resident of France who has written extensively on the differing public views and attitudes across the Atlantic.
Too bad we Americans have this quaint idea that it's not okay for a forty-four year old man to drug and sodomize a thirteen year old girl, even if you are an "artist and celebrity."
To the left, elites are exempt from the rules of lesser mortals provided their politics are sufficiently "progressive." Ted Kennedy got drunk and killed a woman. Che Guevara was a mass murderer. Mumia Abu-Jamal is an unrepentant cop-killer. Bill Ayers is an unrepentant domestic terrorist. All of these people are heroes to the left because they have been absolved by virtue of their politics.
The other reason is because there is sex involved. The left has a simplistic view of sex; it's always a good thing, and any inhibitions against sex are always bad things. The only time sex is a bad thing to the left is when a Christian or a Republican gets caught doing it.
Update: Woody Allen has signed a petition demanding release for Polanski. His wife-daughter hasn't, though.

Ghouls Sell Aborted Babies for Parts
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:56 AM | Comments (33)
You can make big money in abortion. Not only do women pay handsomely to have their inconvenient children killed, sometimes repeatedly, but Big Government shovels mountains of taxpayer money at the abortion industry, and under ObamaCare will soon shovel mountains more. Plus, you can sell body parts from the babies you kill.
Testimony from an employee of Anatomic Gift Foundation and Opening Lines, companies involved in selling parts from aborted fetuses:
QUESTION: Do you think the doctor ever altered the procedures to get you the type of specimens you needed for that day?
ANSWER: Yes, every day. When we would go in to do procedures, the doctor would come in, along with his nurse, and they would want to see the list of what we were going to procure and what we needed. Then he would basically get us the most complete, intact specimen that he could get us. And what I mean by that is that all the limbs, the arms, the head, the chest cavity, were never invaded. They were all completely intact. Sometimes if the fetus was — appeared to be dead, but when you opened up the chest cavity you do see the heart beating, but they'll be no arms or legs moving.
QUESTION: So they were intentionally altering their type of procedure to give you an intact specimen, even if that meant giving you a live specimen?
ANSWER: That's correct. Just so we could sell better tissue and more tissue out. So that our company would make more money. And at the end of the year, they would actually give the clinic back more money since we got good specimens.
Check out this price list from Opening Lines:

Some Uncomfortable Truths About Hope and Change
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 5:29 AM | Comments (37)
Proving once again that not all gays are moonbats, Gay Patriot lists some inconvenient truths about the Obama administration's record so far in office.
- More than one-third of all US casualties in Afghanistan have happened since Obama took the oath of office (Oct 2001 to Dec 2008 versus Jan-Sept 2009) (Yet, Dear Reader jets off to Copenhagen to avoid the difficult choice between withdrawing or sending needed reinforcements while snubbing the commander in the field)
- Job losses in the USA have gone up significantly SINCE Obama signed his “stimulus package,” however, UPDATE from USA TODAY: Federal government employment has increased by more than 25,000 employees, or 1.3%, since December 2008
- Dick Cheney is more progressive on gay marriage than Obama is.
- Obama is responsible for more government spending than all of his previous Presidents’ spending combined
- The only political violence in 2009 has come from left-wing radicals, not conservatives
And the list goes on. I'd like to add a couple more...
- Obama's Department of Justice is now an arm of the Democrat’s political operations, dropping charges against allies (Black Panthers, Bill Richardson) while conducting politically-motivated investigations of the prior administration. He has also fired or threatened to fire Inspectors General who expose the corruption of his cronies.
- Despite claims of moderation and centrism, the president has surrounded himself with advisers - Van Jones, Cass Susstein, John Holdren, Mark Lloyd - from the extreme fringe of the left, and has pursued or enacted exactly zero policies based on free market principles.
Empire State Building to Honor History's Greatest Mass Murderers
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 5:01 AM | Comments (13)
It has become customary for the Empire State Building to be lit up in various colored lights in honor of certain special occasions: red and green for Christmas; red, white, and blue for the 4th of July; green for Muslim holidays; and subtle lavendar and pink when a Tom Cruise movie opens. So, it comes as little surprise that the iconic structure will be lit in bright red, white, and black in honor of the 75th anniversary of Nazi Germany.
Just kidding. The owners of the Empire State Building would never honor the Nazis in such a way. The Nazis only killed about 6,000,000 people. Pikers like that don't deserve the honor. Now, the Red Chinese, on the other hand, killed somewhere between 45,000,000 and 70,000,000 people... minimum... in order to build their utopian socialist worker's paradise. That's clearly a more impressive feat of mass murder, so they deserve the honor of an Empire State Building light display.
Admirers of Communist China include left-wing New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman and radical Marxist President B. Hussein Obama.
Ann Coulter Cuts to the Chase
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 4:09 AM | Comments (70)
Nice Deb has turned up yet another video of public schoolchildren being indoctrinated to worship The One, Kim Jong-Il style. (Do you wonder how often this happens at public schools and doesn't get uploaded to YouTube? The ones we see have to be the tip of the iceberg.)
Leftists are saying it's no big deal that children are being taught to sing and chant praises to The One; after all, he is the Obamassiah. And they're sure something vaguely similar happened when Bush was president. But why do the lefties find it necessary to go after children?
Conservatism requires thought, reason, and ability to analyze; and some accurate knowledge of history is also helpful. Liberal progressive fascist statism requires only the ability to chant mindless slogans ("Yes, we can!") and vacuous platitudes that make you feel good. ("Everyone should have the right to health care.") The difference between liberal progressive fascist statism and commonsense conservatism is the difference between "Yea! Free health care from the government!" and "Given an understanding of the past failures of large government social programs, economic realities, and the intrusiveness a system of government managed health care would entail, government managed health care will probably be more expensive and less effective than the existing system."
Obviously, the liberal strategy is to get kids, and those who think like kids, chanting slogans and not thinking in terms of economics, history, or logic. But Ann Coulter puts it much more succinctly.
The feline synonym that starts with "p" sums up liberal progressive statists pretty well.
BTW: The public schools are the education version of the health care public option. How are they doing?
Your Tax Dollars At Work: Porn Fixation at NSF
Posted by The MaryHunter at 2:05 AM | Comments (30)
Ever wonder what those high-paid executives in tax-funded national foundations are doing with all of their time? If you thought "jerking off", you could be right. There's been an ongoing investigation at the National Science Foundation that has uncovered rampant employee misconduct at this prestigious independent scientific foundation, funded to the tune of over $6 billion annually. The Washington Times reports that investigations of such sticky misconduct cases increased six fold last year.
For instance, one senior executive spent at least 331 days looking at pornography on his government computer and chatting online with nude or partially clad women without being detected, the records show.
When finally caught, the NSF official retired. He even offered, among other explanations, a humanitarian defense, suggesting that he frequented the porn sites to provide a living to the poor overseas women. Investigators put the cost to taxpayers of the senior official's porn surfing at between $13,800 and about $58,000.
"He explained that these young women are from poor countries and need to make money to help their parents and this site helps them do that," investigators wrote in a memo.
Maybe the Third World's economic woes could be solved if more government-funded entities would actually mandate porn surfing of its employees. What a way to feel good about your charity work?

Really, there's not much I can add to this, but this does seem to be the kind of dilemma you are not likely to have if you lead a normal, healthy lifestyle.
Dear Professor Foxy,
I am a queer feminist cis woman in my early twenties, in a long-term cohabiting relationship with a male queer partner in his early twenties. Thanks to the recession, we have had a lot of financial trouble over the past two years. Due to the criminally low hours at his day job, my partner applied to be a male escort at a small local agency....
His clients are all male and mostly in the closet. He is very popular, mainly because of his boyish looks, his youth, and he's a bottom. He's been an escort for a couple weeks now. We are both all about sex workers' rights and are very sex-positive, so it has nothing to do with that. I am trying my best to be supportive...
These are his first same-sex experiences. He doesn't enjoy them. ... I don't want him to feel negatively about himself because of the social stigmas surrounding bisexual men and/or sex workers. But whenever I open up about my anxieties regarding his job, it really upsets him. How can I help support him but also be honest about my fear? And how can I open up a dialogue about his feelings regarding his sexuality
Please help, -- Anxious Partner
Y'know... normal people, when they have financial challenges, reach out to their families, their churches, their communities. It's just not healthy for commercialized sex to be an option. And dressing it up in politically correct psychobabble ("queer feminist cis" "sex-positve") doesn't change the fact that whoring yourself is not a physically, emotionally, or spiritually healthy pursuit.

New York Waste of Times: "We Covered Up ACORN's Lies Because We Didn't Want to Make Them Look Like Liars"
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 11:31 AM | Comments (8)
The "Public Editor" of the New York (Waste of) Times has an explanation for their failure to report in a timely and accurate manner on ACORN's facilitation of tax fraud, immigration fraud, and child prostitution. First of all, he says it was no big deal that an organization that gets millions of dollars in taxpayer funding --- and was where Chairman Zero earned his community organizer street cred --- was involved in criminal activity. Second, they were afraid of making the criminals look bad.
The Times quoted a statement by Bertha Lewis, Acorn’s chief executive, saying that the two activists, James O’Keefe, 25, and Hannah Giles, 20, spent months visiting Acorn offices in San Diego, Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia before getting the responses they wanted. But the article left out one city Lewis cited: New York [link]. Between the time of her statement and the publication of the article, a new video surfaced, featuring an Acorn worker in Brooklyn advising Giles to bury money from prostitution in a tin.
Some readers saw a deliberate effort by the paper to help Lewis out of a tight spot. Scott Shane, the reporter, said he had been unable to reach Lewis and felt that including New York among the cities she mentioned would have implied unfairly that she was lying, something for which he had no evidence.
No evidence except for the fact that she was lying. A reporter that wasn't out to protect ACORN might have noted the discrepancy and added that ACORN had not responded to requests for clarification.
But that might have required even more grudging acknowledgment that Glenn Beck scooped them.

Spider Salley: All of White America Hates Moonbat Messiah
Posted by Van Helsing at 11:04 AM | Comments (22)
It's a start: talk show host and former NBA player Spider Salley declares that "all of white America" hates Chairman Zero.
Gateway Pundit has a few theories as to why that might be:
Maybe the fact that the economy is a disaster, the unemployment rate is skyrocketing, and the national debt is three times what it was last year has something to do with Obama's slide. Or, maybe it's his foreign policy that protects killers and tyrants and punishes allies that's the problem.
Then again, maybe it's just racism.
However, what Salley perceives is not hatred but anger, and it's not just directed by whites at Comrade Obama, but by the majority of the country at the liberal elite oligarchy BHO represents. According to Rasmussen:
Sixty-six percent (66%) of voters nationwide say they're at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. Thirty-six percent (36%) are Very Angry.
Congresscritters now practice the least favorably regarded profession in the country, beating out lawyers, pimps, and even establishment journalists. Their approval rating stands at 16% — just above Charles Manson's.
Louis XVI knew exactly how our moonbat kakistocracy must feel, assuming it has any awareness at all of the mood in the country it rules. It will take more than Salley's pathetic race card to keep the villagers from storming the castle.

In Canada, an Underground Railroad for Health Care
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 10:31 AM | Comments (34)
You know how I can tell the Single-Payer Health Care System in Canada is gay? Because entrepreneurs have set up businesses to help people get speedy health care they can't get under the Canadian system.
Timely Medical Alternatives help unfortunate Canucks get out of the country to get the health care they are taxed for, but can not access in a timely manner.
Our organization was formed in 2003 to help Canadians from coast to coast, to "Leave the queue" and take personal responsibility for their own private medical services.. Since then we have helped hundreds of Canadians obtain second medical opinions, MRI's / CT scans / PET scans (within days) and surgery (within weeks). We have helped our clients to regain their mobility, to get relief from chronic pain, to get diagnoses of illnesses and we have, in some cases, helped to save the lives of a number of our fellow Canadians.
Why are people willing to pay big bucks to get health care their government supposedly provides for "free?" This is why:

Conservatives don't oppose single payer health care because we want sick people to suffer. We oppose it because it doesn't freakin' work.

In Moonbatchusetts, a Fiendish Plot to Create Socialized DayCare
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 10:16 AM | Comments (15)
In Massachusetts, bureaucrats have relabeled babysitters as "educators," and are attempting to bury them in state mandated paperwork.
Written progress reports must be issued every three to six months that track the cognitive, social, emotional, language, motor and life skill developments of infants and preschoolers.
Day-care providers must “assist” with toothbrushing after all meals, or for any children on site for four hours or more.
Nannies must devise a “curriculum” that provides “evidence that programs provide specific, planned learning experiences” and that supports “school-readiness.”
Requiring babysitters to file this paperwork, and pursuing legal action against any who fail to file it to a bureaucrat's satisfaction will drive most of them out of business, thus creating a "DayCare" crisis which will require the formation of state-run DayCare centers, thus growing the bureaucracy, dimishing parental choice, and ultimately requiring tax increases to pay for a state service that previously was provided by private individuals.
The silver lining might be that some parents may decide they are better off raising their own children at home instead of subcontracting the most important task in a human being's life to complete strangers.

Big Government, Unions Go After Michigan Babysitters
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:43 AM | Comments (14)
There is a reason Michigan is crumbling toward Third World economic status: the state has been run into the ground by the same sort of fanatically pro-union authoritarian liberals that now control the federal government. In the latest outrage, a woman could face jail time for volunteering to watch her neighbors' kids, apparently because this is seen by the authorities as a threat to the unionization of babysitters.
A West Michigan woman says the state is threatening her with fines and possibly jail time for babysitting her neighbors' children.
Lisa Snyder of Middleville says her neighborhood school bus stop is right in front of her home. It arrives after her neighbors need to be at work, so she watches three of their children for 15-40 minutes until the bus comes.
The Department of Human Services received a complaint that Snyder was operating an illegal child care home. DHS contacted Snyder and told her to get licensed, stop watching her neighbors' kids, or face the consequences.
"It's ridiculous." says Snyder. "We are friends helping friends!" She added that she accepts no money for babysitting. …
A DHS spokesperson would not comment on the specifics of the case but says they have no choice but to comply with state law, which is designed to protect Michigan children.
If the boot heel being ground into your face isn't intended to save the polar bears, then it must be to protect the children.
Ms. Snyder could have saved herself some grief by succumbing to a union before agreeing to do any favors for her neighbors. Via The Blogprof, here's some background on how Michigan Democrats have been forcing even babysitters to unionize and cough up dues that will then be used to elect more Democrats.
When Comrade Obama rams through card check as promised, the entire country will share Michigan's dismal fate.

Obama as Viewed by the World's Largest Democracy
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:18 AM | Comments (30)
Electing an unqualified ultra-left punk on the basis of his skin color, Muslim name, and ability to keep a straight face while reading outrageous lies off a teleprompter has been a disaster in all other respects, but at least the rest of the world loves and respects us now that we've abandoned the concept of acting in our own interest, and have embarked on a policy of "engagement" with our enemies. That is, the rest of the world, with the exception of our friends. Here's the view from India:
He may not relish the comparison but it is now becoming increasingly obvious that Mr Barack Obama is the most hostile American President for India since Richard Nixon. In the eight months he has been in office, Mr Obama has snubbed India more than once. He has sent repeated signals that New Delhi is not integral to his Asian security architecture. Partly as a result of his country's economic crisis, he has bent over backwards to accommodate China. His open advocacy of protectionism has been most visibly targeted at outsourcing of technology jobs to India. He headlined anti-trade legislation by saying it would punish those who created jobs in Bangalore rather than Buffalo, a special mention that was extraordinarily impolitic and did not go unnoticed in India. In contrast, the tariff war against Chinese tyres has not been posited in such stark bilateral terms. This past week, the Obama team reversed a decade of American nuclear pragmatism and went back to an outdated non-proliferation agenda that should have died, really, in the 1990s. Once more, India has been asked to give up its nuclear weapons and sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as a second-tier power. Most alarmingly, Mr Obama has swung wildly on Afghanistan-Pakistan (AfPak). At various points his diplomats and Generals have said different things. Yet, in all this the overarching political message has been missing.
There has been a remarkable absence of clarity on Mr Obama's strategic goals. In the early months, it was easy to pretend he was making up his mind. Now, it would seem he has no mind. …
Given the intensely and admirably egalitarian nature of the United States presidential election process, it has always been a theoretical possibility that the country will send to the White House a person inexperienced in global affairs and unequal to the international situation before him. Often this has not been the case, and incumbents have risen to the job. Sixty years ago, Harry S Truman had limited first-hand knowledge of great power bargaining but turned out to be farsighted enough to anticipate the Cold War. Mr Obama is the antithesis of this phenomenon. He is completely out of his depth and will probably leave behind a dangerous and unsure legacy. India could have done without this neophyte.
So could America and the rest of our allies.

Punk Pilloried for Burning Flag
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:18 AM | Comments (13)
Even in the era of Hopey Change, justice sometimes prevails — as when a drunken punk was duct-taped to a flag pole for six hours for setting fire to Old Glory outside a VFW hall in Valley Falls, New York.
Post Commander Nick Normile hunted down the vandal and gave him several options, the least unappealing of which was to sit duct-taped to the pole wearing a sign describing his crime. Thanks to a youth soccer picnic, a long parade of children bore witness to his disgrace.
A lesson for moonbats: if you're going to burn a flag, do it on a college campus with your liberal professors smiling on; don't do it at a VFW hall.

Chairman Zero Refuses Pensions for World War II Veterans
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 8:15 AM | Comments (11)
Can you imagine if Chairman Zero had been president during World War II? Can you imagine him going on the radio (or television, which VP Plugs Biden believes was a widely used medium of the era) the day after Pearl Harbor and proclaiming, "I am not interested in victory."
Chairman Zero has expressed his contempt for soldiers and veterans in ways both subtle in gross. He was the first president in modern history to snub the Heroes' Ball on Inauguration Day. He has accused troops in Iraq and Afghanistan of indiscriminately bombing civilians. He is ignoring the requests of his top general for more troops in Afghanistan. His cuts to the defense budget include eliminating vitally needed combat search and rescue (CSAR) helicopters to find and evacuate lost and wounded soldiers.
And not content to merely let the troops in Afghanistan die while he plays rounds of golf and flies to Copenhagen to shill for the Olympics, Chairman Zero has decided to deny pensions to 26 veterans of World War II.
In a strongly worded message to Congress outlining its priorities for a military spending bill, the Obama administration today said it disapproved of including money for pensions for 26 elderly members of the World War II-era Alaska Territorial Guard.
I think the problem is that these veterans were defending Alaska, which is not only full of people bitterly clinging to their guns and Bibles, but is also the state that elected Sarah Palin governor. For the petty, vindictive tinpot in the Oval Office, this means they deserve to be punished.
Obamunist Doubletalk Glossary
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:41 AM | Comments (6)
For those having difficulty making sense of Obamunist doubletalk, Bob Maistros offers a helpful glossary. Be sure to have it on hand next time you try to sit through a speech by Dear Leader.
Action (as in "now is the time for action") — big government.
Balanced and sustained (as in "chart a course for growth that is balanced and sustained") — involving more big government.
Choice — the opportunity to select big government.
Competition — we choose who wins.
Compromise — accepting my position after I give a big speech.
Cost savings — $900 billion in new spending.
Create or save (as in "create or save 4 million jobs") — destroy or lose, as in 2 million jobs.
Engagement — a combination of unilateral concessions and America-bashing abroad.
Fact (as in, "these are the facts" or "to state a fact") — my opinion.
Honest debate — agreeing with me.
Incorporate (as in "incorporate ideas from Republicans") — include in the early stages of a proposal and then have Pelosi and Reid drop like a hot potato behind closed doors in the final version.
Irresponsible (as in "irresponsible behavior") — constitutionally protected.
Misinformation — facts, when presented by our opponents.
Neutrality (as in "net neutrality") — favoring one side in a dispute, especially when that side has supported your campaign and provided a senior White House staff member.
Necessary (as in "necessary war") — not really that necessary, at least when it comes to backing up your words with required manpower and funding and standing up to your liberal base.
Negotiations without preconditions — the position I took vis-à-vis our enemies during the campaign, then denied taking, but am now trying to force on the Israelis.
Nobody (as in "nobody disputes [these facts]") — no liberals or members of the mainstream media.
Non-profit (as in proposals to establish tax-favored, non-profit status for failing newspapers) — making official a condition that has existed unofficially for years.
Nothing (as in "nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have") — everything.
Plan (as in, "the [health-care] plan I am announcing tonight") — a really good speech.
Respect (as in, "respects the rights of the Israelis and Palestinians" or "the Iranians and North Koreans") — overrun (Israelis) or elevate beyond reason with no expectation of reciprocity (everyone else).
Responsibility (as in the "responsibility" to buy health insurance or America's "responsibility" to confront global warming) — big government telling people or nations things they have to do. (See "Action" above.)
Scare tactics — see "Misinformation" above.
Security (as in "stability and security" in health care or "true security for all Israelis") — you're toast.
Stand by our friends — desert our friends in order to "engage" with our enemies. (See "Engagement" above.)
If you can't find the term you'd like to translate, use this handy rule of thumb: Obamunist doubletalk almost always means the precise opposite of what it pretends to mean.

Academics: Education Cures Mexican Drinking Genes
Posted by Van Helsing at 6:48 AM | Comments (7)
If you're Mexican-American and have a drinking problem, don't blame yourself; a recent study has discovered that it's the fault of your genes. But even if you can't do anything about your own behavior, society can — with more education, which counteracts the effect of the genes. Needless to say, the study was produced by the education establishment.
As you don't need to be a university researcher to guess, drunks tend to attain lower education levels. More surprisingly, the authors conclude that "less education lead to alcoholism rather than alcoholism lead to less education [sic]."
Maybe if Big Government just spent a few $100 billion more on education, we could cure the problem of Mexican drinking genes.
Conversely, spending a few $100 billion less could be a cure for the mountains of race-obsessed moonbattery that keep piling up around us. But academics don't seem interested in researching this possibility.

Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Benjamin Netanyahu
Posted by The MaryHunter at 3:50 AM | Comments (12)
Last week at the U.N. General Assembly, President Obama resigned the United States from it's role as "Leader of the Free World." Which nation stepped in to fill the vacuum? It appears Israel has. While Chairman O installed himself as Global Community Organizer-in-Chief, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took charge as the world's true moral leader:
Mr. Obama's address was the predictable mix of criticism of the past policies of the United States, self-praise for correcting said policies and vague calls to united action on matters of collective interest. It sought to ingratiate rather than offend. But Mr. Netanyahu chastised the United Nations for its "systematic assault on the truth." He spoke truths that Mr. Obama would never whisper regarding the regime in Iran, which is "fueled by an extreme fundamentalism" and an "unforgiving creed." Mr. Netanyahu rebuked those members who countenanced Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's diatribe before the same world body, rightly calling it a "disgrace."
Mr. Netanyahu repeatedly paid tribute to the blessings of liberty and "the allure of freedom." He marveled at the technological advances freedom made possible. He asked if the international community would support the Iranian people "as they bravely stand up for freedom." He envisioned a future of Israel and Palestine, "two free peoples living in peace, living in prosperity, living in dignity." Mr. Obama, meanwhile, touted the imperative of responding to global climate change and mentioned as an afterthought that democracy should not be an afterthought.
Living most of your life in the sights of Palestinian terrorists and Arab aggressors has a way of giving one perspective, I guess - as compared to BHO's moral relativism garnered from chumming with America-hating preachers, self-avowed Communists, and home-grown terrorists. Netanyahu's willingness to proclaim the truth instead of vapid "can't we all just get along" aphorisms put Our Dear Leader to shame, as it elevated Israel as apparently the last Western government truly willing to look evil in the eyes and fight for it's own, and the Free World's, existence -- whether the Free World wants deserves it or not.
Mr. Obama said in closing that "we call on all nations to join us in building the future that our people deserve." But people only deserve what they have earned. Mr. Netanyahu called on the civilized world to "confront this peril, secure our future, and, God willing, forge an enduring peace for generations to come." Sometimes the future doesn't come without a fight.

WaPo Columnist Is Outraged at Arrest of Child Rapist
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 7:02 PM | Comments (26)
As we've seen, the left was less outraged (indeed, not at all outraged) when ACORN was caught on video apparently willing to facilitate child prostitution. They were only outraged that a couple of conservative activists caught them.
This weekend, director Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland for the rape of a thirteen-year old girl that occurred in 1977. Washington Post columnist Anne Applebaum thinks it "outrageous" that an award winning director was arrested for something so trivial as child rape.
She thinks the embarrassment and stigma Polanski has suffered is punishment enough. It's not, and that's not the point. Leftists also think Polanski should be given a pass because the woman who was the girl then has forgiven him and moved on. Good for her, but that's also not the point. The point is it's not okay for adult men to have sex with thirteen year old girls, even if the man is a famous director.
He's not the only child rapist to be warmly embraced by Hollywood. Director Victor Salva was convicted of raping the twelve-year-old star of his movie Clownhouse, but after serving his time was welcomed back to Hollywood to film Powder and Jeepers Creepers I and II, films that fetishize violence against adolescent males.
The elite left intelligentsia believe they and their ilk should be exempt from the laws that govern the behavior of lesser mortals. If it's a hick in Arkansas who date rapes a middle school girl, lock him up and throw away the key. But left-leaning film directors who garner the approval of the elite class... well then, as long as they embrace the proper leftist platitudes, the rules are a little different. It's only people like Carrie Prejean who are stigmatized by depraved Hollywood elites.

Progressive Fascists Demand Gay Radio
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 5:24 PM | Comments (22)
Since everyone knows that the 'Fairness Doctrine' is a euphemism for government regulation of radio content, the Obamacrats have backed off reinstating it. Instead, they are trying to slip content regulation in through the backdoor, through mandating "diversity" and "local content." Obama has even appointed an FCC "Diversity Czar" who openly admires the way Hugo Chavez shut down radio and television outlets critical of his socialist regime.
As for how diversity and local content will help the regime silence talk-radio critics, take a look at what's happening in that crucible of progressive fascism, San Francisco.
Utilizing the same mob-rule tactics that have come to define "progressive" activism in the Bay Area, San Francisco politicians are "encouraging" the new owner of KNGY-FM, known as "Energy 92" to bring back the full-time gay programming it featured until earlier this month.
Activists have already begun a pressure campaign that includes phoning Stoltz at home and peppering him with questions about the operation.
You see, until Stotlz bought the station and changed its format to top 40 music, it featured "dance club beats and gay-themed talk." Five nights a week, the station featured "Karel," the left-lib talker most famous for delaring that he wanted Joe the Plumber (expletive) dead. Since not even the leftist moonbats in San Francisco want to listen to gay activists yammering between cuts of gay disco, its ratings were abysmal. But Progressive Fascism is offended by the notion that guy who owns the station, the transmitter, and pays the people who work there should have the final say in what's broadcast, because they know what's best for you.
For now, the progressive fascists can't do much besides whine and complain, but if Chairman Zero and Kommissarr Lloyd get their way, community organizers will have the power to tell broadcasters what they can broadcast, and more importantly, what they can't.

Nanny State Cracks Down on Baby-Sitters
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 4:27 PM | Comments (15)
You might expect that the union-run, moonbat-infested state of Michigan with its 15% unemployment rate and a $1.6 Billion deficit would have better things to do than harass people for babysitting other people's children. You would be wrong.
This is not an aberration, this is exactly how a fully functioning welfare state functions. To the socialist nanny state, there is no human activity that is "none of the state's business." The entire operating theory behind the welfare state is that personal judgment is irrelevant, and only busybody bureaucrats are capable of deciding such things as who can watch over your children.

Option #4
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:47 AM | Comments (15)

According to Richard Rahn of the Cato Institute, the government has four options:
1. To greatly increase taxes on middle- and lower-income groups (a political nonstarter).
2. To "fund" all of the new spending by selling bonds to the private market at much higher interest rates (thus sucking out private capital and increasing the cost of homeownership, which will lead to slower growth and higher unemployment).
3. To have the central bank (the Fed) buy the new debt (leading to higher rates of inflation, making everyone poorer).
4. Or for the government to act responsibly and reduce spending.
Since Option #4 is completely out of the question considering the ideology our kakistocracy, I suggest it be replaced with:
4. To continue wasteful spending that exceeds our resources until the economy inevitably collapses, in accordance with the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Exploit the ensuing chaos as a crisis not to waste by imposing communism or something very close to it.
Anyone familiar with Comrade Obama's background and associates is likely to put their money on the new Option #4.

Poland Showing Eminent Good Sense
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 7:11 AM | Comments (10)
In complete contrast to the USA, where the left defends and supports organizations that happily facilitate child rape (the ACLU) and child prostitution (ACORN), and where a creepy pervert can be appointed as the president's "Safe Schools" czar, the Center-Right Polish Government has passed a law making chemical castration mandatory for child rapists and certain other sex offenders.
Under the law, sponsored by Poland's centre-Right government, paedophiles convicted of raping children under the age of 15 years or a close relative would have to undergo chemical therapy on their release from prison.
Naturally, "human rights" groups show their usual bias in favor of criminals and against the victims of criminals.
"Introducing any mandatory treatment raises doubts as such a requirement is never reasonable and life can always produce cases that lawmakers could never have even dreamt of," said Piotr Kladoczny from the Helsinki Foundation of Human Rights.

IMHO, these child rapists should be grateful they are still being allowed to breathe.

Inspector Clouseau Meets the Fed
Posted by The MaryHunter at 5:30 PM | Comments (11)
Dateline 5 May 2009: At a Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) asks some simple questions for Federal Reserve Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman: what about that "one trillion dollars plus in expansion of the Federal Reserve's balance sheet since last September [2008)], have you conducted any investigations regarding that?" It doesn't seem a "gotcha" question, especially given the high profile of those various bail-outs. "Show me the money" - pretty reasonable.
The pathetic truth is that IG Coleman has no.freaking.idea. She has no idea who received the money, who is investigating who received the money, … despite the fact that SHE is THE Inspector General of the Fed.
The 5-minute video is a testament to the cluelessness that infuses government generally and especially the Obama Administration. Don't you see: the money in our government coffers isn't the people's, it's the government's. So, why bother minding it? Why bother accounting for a possible $9 trillion off-balance-sheet Fed credit transactions in an economy such as ours, "'the worst since the Great Depression"?
With bumbling inspectors like Coleman at the Fed, what investor, what foreign government, could possibly feel confident in anything backed by "the full faith and credit of the United States of America"?

British Christians Face Jail for Offending a Muslim
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 10:35 AM | Comments (16)
Airstrip One once again prostrates itself before its Muslim Overlords. A Christian couple gave offense to a Muslim woman by defending their Christian faith in a religious discussion and now, they're looking at jail time.
A Christian couple have been charged with a criminal offence after taking part in what they regarded as a reasonable discussion about religion with guests at their hotel.
Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang were arrested after a Muslim woman complained to police that she had been offended by their comments.
At least, the food will be better in jail than patients in the care of the NHS get.
No wonder the left has such an affinity for Muslim extremists; they both share a belief that those who don't believe as they do should be silenced.

Whiny Spoiled Harridan Throws Hissy Fit Because One TV in a Fitness Center Is Tuned to Fox News

Newsbusters has this account of Fox News Derangement Syndrome, as reported in the Baltimore Sun.
"(Liberal Democrat activist Ann Geddes) called me up and wanted me to take Fox News off all the TVs," he said, gesturing to the six big flat-screens fixed to the main exercise room wall.
The Fox screen is directly in front of the rowing machine Geddes prefers, though a second one two feet away faces a screen showing NBC. Others broadcast local stations, CNN, ESPN, MSNBC, the Food Network, Discovery Channel and HGTV.
The association's Health and Fitness Advisory Committee, composed of club users, "unanimously endorsed the current selection of stations," Bellamy said.
Get that? One offended moonbat is supposed to trump everyone else's choice.

Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings Is Militant Pervert Who Covered Up Pedophilia
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:34 AM | Comments (20)
In Kevin Jennings, Chairman Zero has found the ideal bureauweenie to oversee the moonbat conception of "safety" in our schools:
President Obama's "safe schools czar" is a former schoolteacher who has advocated promoting homosexuality in schools, written about his past drug abuse, expressed his contempt for religion and detailed an incident in which he did not report an underage student who told him he was having sex with older men.
Conservatives are up in arms about the appointment of Kevin Jennings, Obama's director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, saying he is too radical for the job.
Jennings's position used to entail keeping kids safe from drugs — but apparently no longer.
Jennings' detractors note that he made four references to his personal drug abuse in his 2007 autobiography, "Mama's Boy, Preacher's Son: A Memoir." On page 103, discussing his high school years in Hawaii in the early 1980s, Jennings wrote:
"I got stoned more often and went out to the beach at Bellows, overlooking Honolulu Harbor and the lights of the city, to drink with my buddies on Friday and Saturday nights, spending hours watching the planes take off and land at the airport, which is actually quite fascinating when you are drunk and stoned."
Clearly this is just the guy we want running the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, just as the guy who would let Bill Ayers ghostwrite this in one of his autobiographies is the perfect choice for president:
Junkie. That's where I'd been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man. Except the highs hadn't been about me trying to prove what a down brother I was. Not by then, anyway. I got high for just the opposite effect, something that could push questions of who I was out of my mind, something that could flatten out the landscape of my heart, blur the edges of my memory. I had discovered that it didn't make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate's sparkling new van, or in the dorm room of some brother you'd met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school and now spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl. You might just be bored, or alone. Everybody was welcome into the club of disaffection. And if the high didn't solve whatever it was that was getting you down, it could at least help you laugh at the world's ongoing folly and see through all the hypocrisy and {EXPLETIVE DELETED} and cheap moralism.
Source: Dreams from My Father, by Barack Obama, p. 87 Aug 1, 1996
(Although Chairman Zero brags about drinking, smoking marijuana, and snorting cocaine, he says he didn't shoot heroin — although that doesn't necessarily preclude selling it.)
Under our moonbat rulers, "safe schools" aren't safe from drugs; they're safe to promote homosexuality. Jennings's qualifications include publishing six books on the homosexual agenda and education; one describes his own adventures in perversion as a student.
Jennings describes his mission:
Being finished might someday mean that most straight people, when they would hear that someone was promoting homosexuality, would say "Yeah, who cares?" because they wouldn't necessarily equate homosexuality with something bad that you would not want to promote.
Jennings founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). Some background:
At a GLSEN conference in 2000, co-sponsored with the Massachusetts Department of Education, the group landed in hot water when it was revealed that it had included an educational seminar for kids that graphically described some unorthodox sex techniques.
A state official who spoke to teens at the conference said:
"Fisting (forcing one's entire hand into another person's rectum or vagina) often gets a bad rap. … [It's] an experience of letting somebody into your body that you want to be that close and intimate with… [and] to put you into an exploratory mode."
Jennings is also a gifted theologian, as revealed in his memoir:
What had [God] done for me, other than make me feel shame and guilt? Squat. Screw you, buddy — I don't need you around anymore, I decided.
The Baptist Church had left me only a legacy of self-hatred, shame, and disappointment, and I wanted no more of it or its Father. The long erosion of my faith was now complete, and I, for many years, reacted violently to anyone who professed any kind of religion.
If you're not appalled yet that people of Jennings's caliber have commandeered education, try this:
Another controversy from Jennings' past concerns an account in his 1994 book, "One Teacher In 10," about how, as a teacher, he knew a high school sophomore named Brewster who was "involved" with an "older man":
"Out spilled a story about his involvement with an older man he had met in Boston. I listened, sympathized, and offered advice. He left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated."
Instead of alerting authorities that a child was being molested by a pervert as professional ethics and basic humanity required him to do, Jennings advised the 15-year-old to be sure to wear a condom. That way, the kid would be "safe."

California Econazis Impose Crushing Fines Over Blender
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:37 AM | Comments (13)
The Orange County marketers and Phoenix makers of the gas-powered Party Blender have been fined an outrageous $240,000 by the California Air Resources Board for selling drink-mixers that oppress the polar bears. Intones CARB Enviroreichsfuhrer Mary D. Nichols:
Gasoline-powered blenders may be this year's tailgate sensation, but drinkers should not be polluting our air while having a good time.
Air2air lists a few reasons California's moonbat rulers cannot permit the Party Blender:
• Carbonated drinks increase the carbon footprint.
• You should be out working to pay taxes to your government — not drinking.
• Possibility of injury from flying lime peels.
• Groups of tailgaters congregating together exhale considerable CO2.
• Margarita salt is soon to be banned by the FDA as a health risk.
• The gas-powered blender lobby has not contributed to political campaigns.
• The manufacturer has not yet introduced gas-powered teleprompters.

Moonbats Reduce Monument to Communism's Victims to a Joke
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:55 AM | Comments (9)
Communist tyrants killed over 100 million of their own subjects during the 20th century, and inflicted unthinkable suffering on hundreds of millions more. But since one death is a tragedy, but a million deaths are only a statistic — and more importantly because Western society is controlled by liberals highly sympathetic to communist ideology — these victims are largely forgotten.
To their credit, Canadians tried to rectify this situation with a memorial to the victims of communist totalitarianism. They tried… but apparently have failed:
A new monument in Ottawa to commemorate the victims of some sort of oppression was approved by the National Capital Commission's board of directors Thursday, but the decision has left those proposing the monument confused as to what, exactly, was approved. …
The NCC board passed a motion supporting the concept of the commemoration, "but perhaps with a different title," after objections about the title were raised by nearly all members who spoke.
The title — "monument to the victims of totalitarian communism" — has already been changed once. In the first proposals, one by a non-profit group called Tribute to Liberty, the other by Open Book Group, it was to be called "monument to the victims of communism."
After beginning discussions with the NCC in March 2008, the groups had back-and-forth discussions with a committee of experts who suggested that the title be changed because it could be perceived as "unduly critical of Canadians who might associate themselves with communism," Egan said.
The group then changed the name to include the word "totalitarian." The title still did not sit well with the board.
"I was unsettled by this name, and other members of the committee agreed with me," said Hélène Grand-Maître, speaking in French. "We should make sure that we are politically correct in this designation."
Board member Adel Ayad said the name was troubling for its "very tight definition" and for the presence of the word "communism" in the title, as Canada has a communist party.
As the bureauweenies continue to gnaw away like the rats they are at the meaning of the monument, it appears unlikely they will even be prepared to make a public announcement about the project on November 9, the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down, as originally planned.
How about making it a monument to Opponents of Not Being Very Nice? But no, that would offend Muslims.

Warding Off Bullies With Apologies

On Wednesday, Chairman Zero stood before the United Nations and denounced America, apologizing on our behalf for having stood up to tyranny in Iraq and throughout our history. He also made it clear that the United States government will stand with Palestinian terrorists against our former ally Israel. Muslims have responded to his contemptible groveling as you might expect.
A 19-year-old Jordanian citizen is expected to make an appearance before a federal magistrate in Dallas this morning after authorities accused him of attempting to blow up a downtown Dallas skyscraper.
Hosam Maher Husein Smadi was arrested Thursday after he parked a vehicle laden with government-supplied fake explosives in the underground parking garage of Fountain Place, a 60-story tower in the 1400 block of Ross Avenue at North Field Street, authorities said.
An Illinois man was ordered held on Thursday on charges he tried to blow up a federal building in the state capital, a case unrelated to the New York terrorism plot.
Michael Finton, also known as Talib Islam, was arrested in Springfield, Illinois, and charged with attempted murder of federal officers or employees and trying to use a weapon of mass destruction, charges that carry a life sentence.
Two men charged in North Carolina last month with plotting terrorist attacks overseas also planned to attack the U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, authorities said on Thursday.
The two were among seven suspects arrested in August for conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and for conspiracy to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people overseas.
A new indictment unveiled on Thursday charged Daniel Patrick Boyd, the group's alleged ringleader, and Hysen Sherifi "with conspiring to murder U.S. military personnel" in connection with the planned assault on the Marine Corps base, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Raleigh said in a statement.
Twice in the past two days, SEPTA officials have alerted police to men taking pictures on the Broad Street subway line in South Philadelphia.
On Wednesday, a SEPTA cashier told officers about a man taking pictures at the Lombard-South station, but the man, after being questioned by the cashier about his activities, left before officers arrived.
"We are attempting to identify that male to determine what the nature or the reason for taking the photographs was," Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan said.
Najibullah Zazi, the Denver man believed to be the central figure in a terror plot against the New York City transit system, has officially been indicted on charges of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction against persons or property in the United States, CBS 2 has learned.
Zazi was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday in Denver on a count of lying to terrorism investigators. The new charge of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction was filed in New York City, and authorities plan to transfer him to the federal court in Brooklyn to face the new charges.
Zazi has publicly denied making any terrorist plots. Counterterrorist agents fear he and others may have been planning to detonate homemade bombs on New York City commuter trains. Zazi's father, 53-year-old Mohammed Zazi, and the Queens Imam Ahmad Afzali were also charged with lying to investigators in the case.
Given that Comrade Obama has gone out of his way to cripple our anti-terror defenses for the sake of his sanctimonious posturing, it's only a matter of time until one of these plots succeeds. I doubt it will pull his approval ratings out of their tailspin.

Our Protests and Theirs
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 4:35 AM | Comments (32)
The Democrats claim that people who organize against ObamaCare, ObamaDeficits, and Obamunism are "mobs," "Brownshirts," and "domestic terrorists." Yet, I note during the 9-12 protests in Washington, there were no arrests, no acts of vandalism, and they generally left their venues cleaner than they found them. This is what a protest by freedom-loving American patriots looks like.

What was the worst thing to happen during the 9-12 march? Someone held up a sign that said "Bury ObamaCare with Ted Kennedy." Oh, what horrible people!
Anyway, this is what a protest of "progressives" looks like. (Pay particular attention to the normal, everyday, well-adjusted people at about 1:30 into the video.)
Red white and black. Where have I seen those colors, before?
And, here's some more progressives protesting.

And this is what happens when Progressives protest:
About the time that President Obama and his wife, Michelle, were stepping off Air Force One, protesters started throwing rocks at police and police cars and dragging trash containers into the middle of the street to block traffic. A few local businesses, including a branch of PNC Bank, had windows shattered by rocks or bricks. Police in riot gear fired rubber bullets and canisters of pepper spray and smoke into the crowds. By Thursday evening, 16 people had been arrested, bringing the week's tally of G-20-related arrests to 32, said Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard.
And what's with the black facemasks anyway? I guess nothing says "peaceful protest" and "I have no intention to commit vandalism and behave anti-socially" like a black hankie tied around your face. (Is it racist to say "black hankie?" Probably).

Lefties will say, "These pics aren't fair. Those aren't progressives, those are anarchists." Well, maybe there's a reason anarchists show up at your protests but not ours. Maybe it's because they have more in common with you than us. And maybe they just know where they will be welcome, and where they won't be.

Bad News on the Global Warming Front
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:42 PM | Comments (24)
AP bears grim tidings: according to the UN, plunging millions into poverty by deliberately crippling the economy is a necessary gesture, but it will not be enough to prevent global warming from laying waste to the earth:
Earth's temperature is likely to jump nearly 6 degrees between now and the end of the century even if every country cuts greenhouse gas emissions as proposed, according to a United Nations update.
Scientists looked at emission plans from 192 nations and calculated what would happen to global warming. The projections take into account 80 percent pollution cuts from the U.S. and Europe by 2050, which are not sure things.
The U.S. figure is based on a bill that passed the House of Representatives but is running into resistance in the Senate, where debate has been delayed by health care reform efforts.
That is, even if the Senate slits America's throat by passing Tax & Charade and presenting it for Comrade Obama to eagerly sign, Gaia's rage will destroy everything anyway.
The nexus of this horror is the arctic, where the polar bears suffer for man's iniquitous industrial ways:
Global warming is speeding up, especially in the Arctic, and that means that some top-level science projections from 2007 are already out of date and overly optimistic. [Global warmist Robert] Corell, who headed an assessment of warming in the Arctic, said global warming "is accelerating in ways that we are not anticipating."
Because Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets are melting far faster than thought, it looks like the seas will rise twice as fast as projected just three years ago, Corell said. He said seas should rise about a foot every 20 to 25 years.
Fortunately, when moonbat reality gets too scary, you can just switch it off and return to the real world, where arctic sea ice has been expanding as a result of cooler temperatures:

Now for some serious bad news — these tattoos are going to last far longer than the Great Global Warming Farce:

Seems you can't even tidy yourself in a very personal way without enviro-dipsticks getting in between you and comfort. Don't you see: plush, multi-ply toilet paper is an environmental menace:
The reason, they say, is that plush U.S. toilet paper is usually made by chopping down and grinding up trees that were decades or even a century old. They want Americans, like Europeans, to wipe with tissue made from recycled paper goods.
How to put this: a considerable amount of European travel this past year was not kind to our nether parts, dear reader. While some American TP manufacturers are taking steps to capitulate, it's not as simple as you might think. The issue boils down to the chemistry of cellulose fibers -- the longer the fiber, the softer the tissue. Old trees have longer fibers, while recycled paper contains mostly short ones.
The eco-buttheads push on:
"It's like the Hummer product for the paper industry," said Allen Hershkowitz, senior scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council. "We don't need old-growth forests . . . to wipe our behinds."
Might stories like this one actually bring about a spike in sales of the triple-layer comfy cozy variety, as shoppers hoard it for fear of shortages? Might that just increase demand, causing manufacturers to, in turn, increase supply?
What's the opposite of a boycott?

Obama Mentions Himself Nearly 1,200 Times in 41 Speeches (Or Did You Not Notice?)
Posted by The MaryHunter at 11:25 AM | Comments (35)
Dan Gainor has a spicy little piece that pretty much sums up Narcissist-in-Chief Obama, the quintessential product of the I-My-Me culture:
In mythology, Narcissus was the guy who fell in love with his own reflection.
In 2009, he’s the president of the United States.
Instead of adoring his own image, Obama loves to hear himself talk – about himself. In just 41 speeches so far this year, not including this week's big speech at the United Nations, Obama has talked about himself nearly 1,200 times – 1,198 to be exact. (That breaks down to 1,121 “I”s and just 77 “me”s.) And that just includes 34 weekly addresses and his seven major speeches. Count the hundreds of other public speeches and he’d be off the charts.
Mr. Gainor should be praised for this numeric feat of true heroism. It must have been stomach-turning. Not even the unprecedented wall-to-wall Sunday talk-show circus escaped his scrutiny. Despite that glaring hole right around the Fox affiliates, The Narcissinator still set records:
The interviews went off as expected. Obama kept his “I” on the nation’s problems. He mustered 387 personal mentions in just 82 minutes of air time. Forget the economy, health care, racism or whatever. Every 13 seconds, Obama was talking about … Obama.
If a first-person pronoun falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, would it make a difference in the polls?

Evidence Accrues That Bill Ayers Wrote Obama's Autobiography
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:35 AM | Comments (28)
Christopher Andersen's new bestseller Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage provides more evidence that Chairman Zero's Dreams From My Father was ghostwritten by unrepentant communist terrorist Bill Ayers. Jack Cashill reports:
Relying on inside sources, quite possibly Michelle Obama herself, Andersen describes how Dreams came to be published — just as I had envisioned it in my articles on the authorship of Dreams. With the deadline pressing, Michelle recommended that Barack seek advice from "his friend and Hyde Park neighbor Bill Ayers."
To flesh out his family history, Obama had taped interviews with various family members. Andersen writes, "These oral histories, along with a partial manuscript and a truckload of notes, were given to Ayers." Andersen quotes a Hyde Park neighbor, "Everyone knew they were friends and that they worked on various projects together. It was no secret. Why would it be? People liked them both."
Andersen continues, "In the end, Ayers's contribution to Barack's Dreams From My Father would be significant — so much so that the book's language, oddly specific references, literary devices, and themes would bear a jarring similarity to Ayers's own writing."
Meanwhile, Chairman Zero asks us to believe that Ayers — in whose home Obama launched his political career and with whom he shared an office for years — is just some "guy who lives in my neighborhood."

Chairman Zero Hearts Gadhafi
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 9:01 AM | Comments (9)
The Obama administration has notified Congress of the State Department's intention to contribute $400,000 to foundations run by Muammar Qaddafi's two children — $200,000 each for daughter Aisha and son Saif. Saif, you may recall, is the son who escorted the Lockerbie terrorist Abdel Baset al-Megrahi home to a hero's welcome in Libya after President Obama sternly "warned" Qaddafi that there was to be no hero's welcome.
Remember when the left said that accusing Obama of "palling around with terrorists" was a vicious smear? How about giving taxpayer money to organizations run by terrorists? True, 400 Large is only a drop in the bucket compared to the $900,000,000 Chairman Zero pledged to Hamas, but there is a distinct pattern here, isn't there? Our allies get crappy DVD collections, but terrorists get truckloads of money.
Leftist Thugs Wreak Havoc in Honduras
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:34 AM | Comments (11)
When our government's allies in Honduras — the ones who support Mel Zelaya's attempted communist coup — found out the Hugo Chavez wannabe was back in the country, they ran riot:
After several weeks of relative peace and calm in Honduras — and no curfews, despite what the international media consistently misreports — former president Mel Zelaya returned to Honduras Monday and instigated violence again.
Virtually every private car in the area of the Brazilian Embassy where Zelaya is hiding was damaged by breaking out some or all of the windows and ruining the tires. Ironically, Mel Zelaya's own mother's car was parked on the street and was likewise vandalized.
Private homes in the area were broken into and robbed. Citizens were assaulted. Death threats were sprayed unto neighbors' walls. Mountains of trash were strewn in the streets.
At least one woman's house was completely ransacked, robbed, and her two employees were terrorized. The Zelayistas smoked marijuana as they destroyed and smashed everything in her house up to and including the ceilings, doors, and windows — the video of her home shown on the news was horrifying. Other neighbors were terrorized, assaulted, threatened with rape, and forced to prepare food by the rioters while they were being robbed. …
Damage was not limited to that area. Roads were blocked. Tires were burned.

This police vehicle was burned. At least one bus was vandalized. Banks, businesses, and government offices were similarly vandalized and robbed. Employees of one fast food restaurant were threatened by Zelayistas with burning the building down with them inside.
Stores were destroyed and robbed of everything, up to and including refrigerators, washers, dryers, and computers. A bank branch was robbed of L. 500,000.
The security doors for Dispensa Familiar were torn down and the store was sacked of everything from groceries to televisions. Anything that wasn't stolen was destroyed. This photo shows just one example of the result of Zelaya's 'peaceful' demonstrations.

If it's up to the Obama administration, these thugs will run Honduras, replacing the current democracy. As a result of last November's catastrophic election, America now stands for tyranny against liberty, until such a time as Americans can reassert control over the government that purports to represent them.

Fred Phelps Hates Joos, too

Lunatic Ahole Fred Phelps ... who ran for office twice as a Democrat, raised funds for Al Gore and served as a Gore delegate at the 1988 DNC convention, and was an outspoken opponent of the Iraq War... is traveling to New York City with his little band of hate-freaks. This time, they’re laying off the gheys and going after the Joos…
The Westboro Baptist Church...announced this week that it would protest at Brooklyn Technical HS in Fort Greene after classes are dismissed tomorrow and at Congregation Beth Elohim and Union Temple in Park Slope and the Kane Street Synagogue on Saturday — one day before Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar.
The church’s Web site explained the reason for the rallies.
“Yo what’s up, God haters?” the protest announcement reads. “Why you teach ‘It’s OK to be gay?’ WBC will be on hand to teach the rebels of Brooklyn what good looks like, and you had better behave. Not like this, but properly and appropriately.”
A press release distributed by the group on Wednesday morning suggests that the protests are timed to ruin the Jewish New Year.
IMHO, any guy who is that obsessed with hating teh gheys is probably so deep in the closet he's finding Christmas presents. But one thing to note is even though Freddy is the most outspoken gay-hater in the USA, he has never killed any homosexuals, never sent suicide bombers into gay bars, or hanged even one sodomite in the public square. In fact, no church --- mainline, fundamental, or pentecostal --- advocates murder or violence against homosexuals, whom Christians treat as children of God, who are not to be killed for their behavior, but treated with compassion, prayer, and love.
In contrast, we have Muslim imams calling homosexuals subhuman filth and calling for their extermination. We have Iran, a country run entirely by Islamic clerics which not only sponsors Global terrorism, but also executes dozens of gays every year just for the crime of their sexuality.
Kind of gives lie to that idiot lefty talking point that Christian fundamentalists are just the same as Islamic extremists, doesn’t it?

Bloomberg: Food Rules Are for Thee, Not for Me
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:29 AM | Comments (20)
Nanny Nazi Mike Bloomberg — who insists on regulating every last bite New Yorkers put in their own mouths — has dietary habits that must put his cardiologist into shock:
He dumps salt on almost everything, even saltine crackers. He devours burnt bacon and peanut butter sandwiches. He has a weakness for hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and fried chicken, washing them down with a glass of merlot.
And his snack of choice? Cheez-Its.
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has become New York City's nutritional nag, banning the use of trans fats, forcing chain restaurants to post calorie counts and exhorting diners to consume less salt. Now he is at it again, directing his wrath at sugary drinks in a new series of arresting advertisements that ask subway riders: "Are you pouring on the pounds?"
But an examination of what enters the mayoral mouth reveals that Mr. Bloomberg is an omnivore with his own glaring indulgences, many of them at odds with his own policies. …
Under his watch, the city has declared sodium an enemy, asking restaurants and food manufacturers to voluntarily cut the salt in their dishes by 20 percent or more, and encouraging diners to "shake the habit" by asking waiters for food without added salt.
But Mr. Bloomberg, 67, likes his popcorn so salty that it burns others' lips. (At Gracie Mansion, the cooks deliver it to him with a salt shaker.) He sprinkles so much salt on his morning bagel "that it's like a pretzel," said the manager at Viand, a Greek diner near Mr. Bloomberg's Upper East Side town house.
Not even pizza is spared a coat of sodium. When the mayor sat down to eat a slice at Denino's Pizzeria Tavern on Staten Island recently, this reporter spotted him applying six dashes of salt to it.
Bloomberg also smoked cigarettes for years before imposing a ban on smoking in restaurants.
Hypocrisy is no hindrance to the careers of moonbat authoritarians. For example, Comrade Obama ran on a "firm pledge" not to raise any taxes on anyone making less than $250,000/year. In an appalling display of contempt for the dupes who elected him, within two weeks of taking office he signed legislation doubling the federal tax on cigarettes — a regressive tax that primarily hurts the working class — even though Chairman Zero is a nicotine fiend himself.

Comrade Obama's UN Speech, Cliff Notes Version
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:57 PM | Comments (27)
In case you didn't have the time or the stomach to sit through Obama's speech to his fellow arthropods at the United Nations today, I've condensed it into six words:
America sucks, but I am great.
Unsurprisingly, the speech was a big hit with Muammar Gadhafi, whose hands drip with American blood from terror attacks in Berlin and over Lockerbie, Scotland. Mad Mo praised Chairman Zero as a "glimpse in the darkness," and wished he could be president forever.
Fidel Castro, who urged the Soviet Union to attack America with nuclear weapons, also loved the speech, gushing,
It would only be fair to recognize that no other United States president would have had the courage to say what he said.
Or rather, no other president would have been half so contemptible.
I wonder how many people who voted for Obama are able to meet their own eyes in the mirror.

When it comes to gun control, conservatives oppose gun registration on the basis that registration is almost always a precursor to the confiscation of firearms from law abiding citizens. Liberals claim this is nonsense.
In Toronto, police raided the homes of 400 registered firearms owners, and confiscated their weapons, primarily for minor technical violations of the registration agreement.
Leftists lie. Always. And about everything.

United Nations Measures Its Footprint Size, Comes Up a Dollar Short
Posted by The MaryHunter at 6:00 PM | Comments (5)
Besides their ruinous efforts at bringing about world peace, the United Nations is having a little trouble keeping its carbon footprint in check at this week's conference on global climate change - or even estimating it accurately, for that matter. From Fox News:
The New York Times reports U.N. administrators are attempting to calculate the carbon dioxide produced by the delegates in order to buy carbon offsets: They estimate 461 tons of carbon dioxide, with air travel being the single largest component. However, that tally only includes emissions from one aide traveling with each world leader and not the dozens of staff who frequently make up each country's delegation.
The aforementioned article in the Old Gray Whore effusively praises the U.N.'s "new and expanding program for offsetting emissions" that ultimately buys carbon offsets:
They offset those emissions by directing money to a power project in rural Andhra Pradesh, India, through which agricultural leftovers like rice husks and sunflower stalks are turned into electricity for the local grid.
Far be it for us to presume that the U.N. is simply trying to assuage their (misplaced) guilt over their under-estimated carbon footprint. Alas, it seems that the U.N.'s magnanimous generosity will only be exceeded by its coincidental stinginess. You see, the NYT reporter, all misty-eyed, forgot about one pesky little thing. FNC didn't, though:
One climate scientist points out that the value of carbon offsets -- a publicly traded commodity -- fell to 20 cents a metric ton late last week: Meaning 20 cents times 461 metric tons would equal spending $92 to offset their emissions.
Even if you multiply the estimated tonnage by 6 to roughly account for a dozen travelers minimum with each country's delegation, you still only come up with a little over $500 for those poor, power-starved Andhra Pradeshians. That's about enough to buy a gross of energy-efficient fluorescent light bulbs, perhaps one for every home, if they're lucky. Fluorescent bulbs which, of course, will poison the earth with toxic mercury when they break during a typhoon.
More Children Taught to Sing Praise to Obama
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 3:07 PM | Comments (28)
Remember when the left thought we on the right were nuts for claiming that Obama's speech to schoolchildren coupled with a "How can you help the president" lesson plan was some kind of indoctrination? Because the idea that schools would be used to indoctrinate children to revere Obama was the sort of crazy fever dream only a crazed, hate-filled, right-wing racist could come up with? They said using schools for Obama indoctrination was about as likely as bureaucratic "Death Panels" being set up to ration available health care.
Yeah, it's a good thing stuff like this could never happen... again...
Also, Smart Girl Nation has an example of a classroom quiz given after the Health Care speech, where high school seniors had to reiterate the president's talking points in order to get a passing grade.
Temperature Stats Go Down Memory Hole
Posted by Van Helsing at 12:41 PM | Comments (13)
Despite cooling temperatures, our rulers continue to lay the groundwork for using the discredited global warming hoax as a pretext to impose poverty and totalitarianism. Due to growing public skepticism, they will not be able to accomplish this through the Legislative Branch. No matter: under Obamunism, the legislature is an anachronism anyway. Congresscrumbs admit that they don't even read the legislation they pass, much less write it; that's done by shadowy ultra-left activist groups like the Apollo Alliance. The Executive Branch — with its legions of unelected czars and regulatory agencies — calls the shots.
This makes unaccountable and unnecessary bureaucracies like the EPA more powerful — and potentially more tyrannical — than anything the Founding Fathers could have imagined. The watermelons pushing the global warming hoax are more than happy to remove any speed bumps on their march to absolute power. Via NRO:
In the early 1980s, with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, scientists at the United Kingdom's University of East Anglia established the Climate Research Unit (CRU) to produce the world's first comprehensive history of surface temperature. It's known in the trade as the "Jones and Wigley" record for its authors, Phil Jones and Tom Wigley, and it served as the primary reference standard for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) until 2007. It was this record that prompted the IPCC to claim a "discernible human influence on global climate."
Putting together such a record isn't at all easy. Weather stations weren't really designed to monitor global climate. Long-standing ones were usually established at points of commerce, which tend to grow into cities that induce spurious warming trends in their records. Trees grow up around thermometers and lower the afternoon temperature. Further, as documented by the University of Colorado's Roger Pielke Sr., many of the stations themselves are placed in locations, such as in parking lots or near heat vents, where artificially high temperatures are bound to be recorded.
So the weather data that go into the historical climate records that are required to verify models of global warming aren't the original records at all. Jones and Wigley, however, weren't specific about what was done to which station in order to produce their record, which, according to the IPCC, showed a warming of 0.6° +/- 0.2°C in the 20th century.
Now begins the fun. Warwick Hughes, an Australian scientist, wondered where that "+/-" came from, so he politely wrote Phil Jones in early 2005, asking for the original data. Jones's response to a fellow scientist attempting to replicate his work was, "We have 25 years or so invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it?"
Reread that statement, for it is breathtaking in its anti-scientific thrust. In fact, the entire purpose of replication is to "try and find something wrong." The ultimate objective of science is to do things so well that, indeed, nothing is wrong.
However, global warming is about politics, not science. More requests were made for the original, unfudged data. Stall tactics were employed. The requests escalated, until finally Jones denied that the original data even exists. Implausibly, he now claims it was destroyed decades ago to save storage space.
Here's why the data went down the memory hole:
It now appears likely that the U.S. Senate will drop cap-and-trade climate legislation from its docket this fall — whereupon the Obama Environmental Protection Agency is going to step in and issue regulations on carbon-dioxide emissions. Unlike a law, which can't be challenged on a scientific basis, a regulation can. If there are no data, there's no science.
Extremely bad people will soon be doing extremely bad things to our country in the name of a "crisis" that does not exist. Anything that gets in their way will be altered, suppressed, or destroyed.

Hypocrisy
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 11:50 AM | Comments (43)
Unfortunately, you have to put up with screeching lesbian moonbat Rachel Madcow and some simpering leftist eunuch pontifcating, but this video just so... SO... illustrates the hypocrisy of the left.
The point of posting this is to show hypocrisy, not to claim it's all right for us to call the president Hitler just because their side did it first. I don't think we on the right need to call Obama Hitler unless he actually starts killing Jews, or at least, standing by and eating ice cream while the Iranians slaughter Jews. It is legitimate to point out the radical Marxists in his circle of his advisors; the Fascist trappings of, for example, using the National Endowment for the Arts as his personal propaganda machine; and that his vast nationalization of sectors of the economy and socialist policy choices are typical means by which Fascists centralize power. But it doesn't help the cause of opposition to be dropping the H-word.

Obama to Waste More Growing Welfare in a Year Than Bush Spent on Entire Iraq War
Posted by Van Helsing at 10:06 AM | Comments (19)
When liberals whine that the war to liberate Iraq cost too much, they make an argument that would be reasonable — but only if someone else were making it. We now know that their Teleprompter Messiah will flush more money down welfare in the next year than Bush spent on the entire war.
During the entire administration of George W. Bush, the Iraq war cost a total of $622 billion, according to the Congressional Research Service.
President Obama's welfare spending will reach $888 billion in a single fiscal year — 2010 — more than the Bush administration spent on war in Iraq from the first "shock and awe" attack in 2003 until Bush left office in January.
Obama's spending proposals call for the largest increases in welfare benefits in U.S. history, according to a report by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. This will lead to a spending total of $10.3 trillion over the next decade on various welfare programs. These include cash payments, food, housing, Medicaid and various social services for low-income Americans and those at 200 percent of the poverty level, or $44,000 for a family of four. Among that total, $7.5 trillion will be federal money and $2.8 trillion will be federally mandated state expenditures.
Welfare money is worse than wasted, because it doesn't just disappear: it buys poverty. Other than sinking us so deeply into debt we will probably never dig our way out, the only thing accomplished by Comrade Obama's pork-laden "Stimulus" bill was that it repealed welfare reform, which had been amazingly successful at getting people out of poverty.
If the government wants less of something — say, entrepreneurship — it taxes it. Where it wants more, it subsidizes. Our rulers subsidize poverty for the same reason they allow millions of Third World peasants to flood the country. To the government, more poverty means more power. This explains Democrat economic policy in a nutshell.

Bertha Lewis's Rolodex Reveals Ties to White House
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:23 AM | Comments (3)
Now that the country's largest community activist group ACORN has been exposed as downright satanic, the governmedia may be forced to acknowledge its extensive and longstanding ties to Comrade Obama. Now doubt it will pretend these are all in the past. But even after ACORN launched Chairman Zero on his career, and he found still more powerful patrons in the liberal establishment media and on Wall Street, he continues to have his uses for this criminal syndicate, as we saw when he paid them $800,000 to use their nefarious tactics to help him win election, and again when plans were made to have ACORN collect Census data helpful to Democrats.
Radical community organizer Bertha Lewis — ACORN's CEO — is considered one of the 100 most influential women in New York. They should make that in the world; after all, she has the ear of the White House.
Among the very few contacts in Bertha Lewis's Rolodex that include detailed information — home phone, cell phone, person email — is Patrick Gaspard, a top Obama advisor who flies under the radar. From RedState:
Patrick Gaspard was the Executive Vice President for the SEIU until Barack Obama asked Gaspard to become his Presidential Campaign's National Political Director. Once in the White House, Gaspard became Barack Obama's Director of the Office of Political Affairs. He is Barack Obama's Karl Rove, but unlike Rove, eschews the spotlight, which is why so many compare David Axelrod to Rove.
Also prominently featured in the Rolodex is Gaspard's brother Michael, who is listed as working for the Advance Group. This is ACORN's lobbying organization, responsible for persuading corrupt politicians to give our money to Bertha Lewis and her army of child prostitution enablers.
No amount of media whitewashing will get the stink of ACORN off Dear Leader.

And you thought I was exaggerating when I said Obama wanted to be BFF with thugs like Ahmadinnerjacket and Mo Khadaffy. Michelle Malkin reports that after claiming the Swine Flu Virus was a conspiracy against the Third World, Khadaffy went on to praise the USA's neo-Marxist radical president.
9:47am Eastern update. Gadhafi is praising Obama as a “glimpse in the darkness.” He says he would be happy if Obama would be president forever.

This provides me the opportunity to bring up an insane moonbat comment one of Obama's drooling little cultists posted at AoSHQ last night.
Someone's gotta put his feet down on the israeli-palestine mess...it's gone on long enough. The children need a grownup to step in and slap them on their heads. Obama is that grownup.
I have a feeling he will bring peace between Israel and Palestine before his term is up.

Moonbat Tech: Energy-Producing Speed Bump
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:17 AM | Comments (49)
We don't need to drill for oil when opportunities to produce green energy are all around us — even under the wheels of our cars:
Can a fast food drive-thru lane actually provide clean green electricity?
A company called New Energy Technologies is betting on it.
The firm has developed a prototype device it's now testing at a Burger King in Hillside, New Jersey.
The "Motion Power Energy Harvester" is designed to capture kinetic energy from vehicles that would otherwise be lost when drivers hit the brakes to pick up their Whoppers.
It looks like a flattened speed bump with long pedals across the top that press down when tires roll over them. That force turns gears inside, generating 2000 watts of electricity instantaneously, according to the engineers who designed it.
The trick is collecting that energy and distributing it in a cost-effective way.
How about if we completely line our highways with energy-producing speed bumps? That would not only produce enough electricity to light Al Gore's bathroom, but also force us to drive at reduced speed.

Congresscritters to Investigate ACORN — And Those Who Exposed It
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:01 AM | Comments (44)
There is no good or evil in Liberal Land. Everything is a nuanced shade of murky gray. Moonbattologists call this "moral relativism," a principle that has been applied yet again as two particularly unseemly congressional Democrats, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee John Conyers (whose wife has been busted on felony bribery charges) and the repugnant Bonnie Fwank (whose homosexual love interest ran a brothel out of Fwank's apartment) have been forced by the shocking O'Keefe/Giles videos to investigate the cesspool that produced our current president. Naturally, they will also investigate O'Keefe and Giles for the possible crime of having exposed ACORN's eagerness to aid and abet child prostitution, slave trafficking, and tax fraud:
Conyers and House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank of Massachusetts asked the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service on Tuesday to provide an analysis on several aspects of ACORN. Among them:
• Any current or previous criminal investigations into the group.
• A breakdown of any funding received by the group and any violations of the terms of that funding.
• A report on alleged improprieties in collecting voter-registration forms and "the extent … that resulted in people being improperly placed on voting roles and actually attempting to vote."
• The group's programs to provide housing opportunities.
It also asked for a report on private sting activities "in which individuals have reportedly visited ACORN offices, misrepresented their identities and proposed activities, surreptitiously videotaped resulting conversations with ACORN workers, and widely distributed them."
The letter went onto say, "Conflicting allegations have been made about the propriety of these activities. Please research and report on the federal and state laws that could apply to such videotaping and distribution of conversations without the consent of all parties."
For having made it impossible to ignore the character of the people who have taken over our government, O'Keefe and Giles are among the greatest patriots this country has seen since the Revolution. As a reward, they will probably spend the rest of their lives paying off their legal bills.

Obama FCC Diversity Czar: "We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power."
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 7:57 AM | Comments (11)
Mark Lloyd --- Chairman Zero's FCC Diversity Czar --- the guy who praised Hugo Chavez for shutting down opposition media --- advocates the use of government power to redistribute media access away from those who the government thinks shouldn't have it, and toward those whom it thinks should.
And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those (media) positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem. ... We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power.
Not only that, he thinks that silly First Amendment thing is over-rated:
"It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies."
A distraction, in other words, from using race-based preferences to create a communications infrastructure in which opposition to the Obama Regime can be suppressed.
"Bush had czars, too," the leftist nitwits will simper. OK, how many of Bush's czars were power-crazed radical Marxists and grievance-obsessed racists?
Ted Kennedy, Renaissance Man
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:02 AM | Comments (7)
Even as our rulers' Cloward-Piven economic policy drives the dollar down toward worthlessness, some things are going up in value — gold and ammunition for two examples, Ted Kennedy's artwork for another:
In the few weeks since his death, paintings and prints by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy have increased in value — not quite to the point of, say, an undiscovered Picasso, but enough that a few people put them up for sale on eBay and had the artwork snapped up within days.
While the prices for these online-auctioned works ranged from just over $500 to more than $5,000, many who own original or silk-screened copies of the senator's seaside scenes and still lifes say no amount of money could persuade them to sell his art.
Yes, I can understand how they might feel that way.

Painting wasn't the Lion of the Left's only gift. Testifies Boston city councilor Rob Consalvo:
People didn't always see the whole man, they saw just the public man, the senator. But he was a gifted athlete, he loved to sing, and he could paint. He had an amazing number of talents – not the least of which was inspiring others.
He could even sing in Spanish. How's this for inspiring:
The world will never be the same without him.

U.S. Senate to California Farmers: Drop Dead
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 5:50 AM | Comments (20)
Demonstrating once again the moonbat priorities of the Demoncrat Senate majority, the Senate has voted to screw over hundreds of thousands of farmers and endanger our national food supply for the sake of a two-inch fish that probably isn't endangered anyway.
Because of the ruling of Moonbat Judge Oliver Wanger, millions of gallons of freshwater that could be growing crops and providing livelihoods to hundreds of thousands of people are washing uselessly into the sea. Farmers are facing bankruptcy and tens of thousands are out of work.
California's dingbat senators Dianne Feinstein and Babs "Ma'am" Boxer stood by and did nothing to correct this insanity. It took a Republican from South Carolina, Jim DeMint, to try and rescue California's farmers by proposing an amendment to restore water to the farmers in the San Joaquin valley. Guess what? Senate Demoncrats... including both dingbat senators from California... voted it down.
Update: Senior Dingbat Dianne Feinstein compares supplying Farmers with water to "Pear Harbor."

Feds "Loan" Half a Billion for Stupid Electric Cars to be Built Overseas

It's a good thing our government is so flush with cash that it can give out half a billion dollars in "loans" (that it will never see again) so that some guys in California can design luxury hybrids that will be built overseas.
The Energy Department said Tuesday it would lend $528.7 million to Fisker from a $25 billion fund to develop fuel-efficient vehicles.
Fisker, launched in 2007, is expected to release its first vehicle, the Karma, in the summer of 2010. The $87,900 plug-in luxury sports sedan, which has solar panels on the roof and allows motorists to drive gas-free for 50 miles, will be built in Finland by Valmet Automotive.
Wow! 50 whole miles! Gosh, everybody will want one of those! And it runs on electricity! Which doesn't require any consumption of resources or damage to the environment at all to produce, because it's magic!
Energy Kommissarr Stephen Chu announced that this glorious investment of the people's money would "create or save 5,000" jobs... a number that still had tiny bits of toilet paper clinging to it from the place he pulled it out of.

Canadians to Walk Out on Chairman Zero's BFF Ahmadinejad
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 4:55 AM | Comments (15)
Canada is doing the right thing for once. They are going to walk out of the UN General Assembly rather than be lectured to by Holocaust-denying, Hitler-wannabe Mahmoud Ahmadinnerjacket.
Canada will boycott Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech at the United Nations on Wednesday, saying his outbursts about the Holocaust and Israel are "shameful."
Walking out of the chamber is seen as a strong diplomatic show of disgust at the UN -- and since the chamber is generally packed on the first day of the annual summit, Canada's empty seats will not go unnoticed.
Our own radical Marxist president, Chairman Zero --- who responded to the butcher of Iranian citizens by going out for ice cream --- will be at the UN. And he will deliver a speech in which he will bash the United States --- yet again --- so that he can bask in the applause of the world's tyrants, thugs, and dictators. The president is a textbook case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and to him, the applause of the powerful means everything, the cries of the oppressed mean nothing.

In Obama's America, Toll Roads Are Racist
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 3:43 PM | Comments (24)
Arlington County VA is suing to prevent to the creation of toll lanes to ease traffic on local freeways, because they're racist.
A lawsuit filed by Arlington County last month claims the lanes benefit wealthy white people and discriminates against minorities. While the only rule to get in the HOV lanes on Interstate 395 is you must have three people in the car, Arlington claims adding HOT lanes would cut out poor and minorities by defacto.
So, if tolls are racist because mostly affluent white people pay them, while less affluent minorities don't so much... aren't taxes racist for the same reason?

Moonbat Tech: Blood-Powered Lamp
Posted by Van Helsing at 1:01 PM | Comments (38)
A true moonbat is willing to suffer to save the polar bears — even to bleed for them. That's why his home is not complete without a blood-powered lamp:
Perhaps you would be better about lowering your carbon footprint if lighting up your home required a sample of your own blood. Designer Mike Thompson thinks so.
His concept Blood Lamp calls for users to break off the top of the bulb-shaped glass, cut their finger on the jagged edge and then mix a tablet in with their own blood. Some sort of mysterious, unexplained chemistry ensues and the bulb glows.
In case you aren't moonbatty enough to grasp the moral significance, The Design Blog explains:
Illustrating the importance of energy in human life and provoking the consumers to reduce on their carbon footprints, designer Mike Thompson has designed an innovative light called "Blood Lamp" that as depicted by its name, generates power from blood. … As excessive blood loss is dangerous to one's life, similarly overexploitation of natural resources, to produce extra energy, effects the environment and our quality of life.
Only with the Blood Lamp can you wallow in deranged liberal sanctimony just by turning on a light.

Obama's SecEnergy Expresses his Contempt for His Subjects
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 11:01 AM | Comments (26)
Chairman Zero's Minister of Energy doesn't think very highly of the American public.
When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, Energy Secretary Steven Chu sees Americans as unruly teenagers and the Administration as the parent that will have to teach them a few lessons.“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said.
In other words, people aren't wise enough to make their own decisions, so the Government will make decisions for them. Of course, if Chu spends his life surrounded by fellow leftists who giggle at the word "tea-bagger," one can see where he would get such a low opinion of the average American's mental faculties.
Of course, a spokesman had to come out and lie to the public after the embarrassing gaffe.
Energy Department spokesman Dan Leistikow added: “Secretary Chu was not comparing the public to teenagers."
Yeah, right. Also, ObamaCare won't add to the deficit. Van Jones wasn't a Communist. The President never even heard of ACORN before last week.
Oh, right...
The lies weren't quite over yet.
"There’s very little debate” that a new green energy economy will bring economic prosperity, Mr. Chu told reporters.
Very little debate within the administration, no doubt. Out in the real world, some argue that destroying two real jobs for every one green job isn't a good ROI.

Tucson Schools to Impose Race-Based Discipline
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:47 AM | Comments (40)
Our post-racial era of Hopey Change means apartheid for kids trapped in Tucson's public schools. In addition to various programs that waste mountains of taxpayer money to promote not being Caucasian, the Tucson Unified School District has taken racial bean-counting to the ultimate extreme of absurdity by imposing a quota system for discipline:
The board is calling for a two-tiered form of student discipline. One for Black and Hispanic students; one for everyone else.
With the goal of creating a "restorative school culture and climate" that conveys a "sense of belonging to all students," the board is insisting that its schools reduce its suspensions and/or expulsions of minority students to the point that the data reflect "no ethnic/racial disparities."
From the section of the 52-page plan titled "Restorative School Culture and Climate," subhead, "Discipline":
"School data that show disparities in suspension/expulsion rates will be examined in detail for root causes. Special attention will be dedicated to data regarding African-American and Hispanic students."
The board approved creating an "Equity Team" that will oversee the plan to ensure "a commitment to social justice for all students."
Once the privileged ethnic groups lucky enough to be "oppressed" have reached their limit for discipline, only those animals that are less equal than the others are subject to punishment. Consequently,
Some behavior will be met with strict penalties; some will not. It all depends on the color of the student's skin.
It sure doesn't depend on the content of their character with liberals in charge.

Social Security Begins Going Bankrupt Next Year
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 8:39 AM | Comments (20)
Margaret Thatcher once said that the problem with socialism was that sooner or later, you run out of other people's money.
Social Security is just about to run out of other people's money:
Four years ago, George W. Bush attempted to reform the entitlement program Social Security, warning that the system was accelerating into collapse and would soon run deficits. Democrats scoffed and claimed the Social Security system was solid and wouldn’t have problems for at least 50 years, as Harry Reid told PBS’ Jim Lehrer in June 2005. Just last year, the CBO — under the direction of Peter Orszag, now budget director in the Obama administration — claimed that the first cash deficits in Social Security would not come until 2019.
Now, however, the CBO has determined that Social Security will run cash deficits next year and in 2011, and by 2016 will be more or less in permanent deficit mode.
Sounds like a great time to add a trillion-dollar health care entitlement to the Federal Budget, doesn't it?
Envirokooks Kill Solar Plant in Desert Wasteland
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:31 AM | Comments (12)
Will Democrats permit any form of power production anywhere? Evidently not:
Oakland's BrightSource Energy Inc. said this week that it has scrapped a controversial plan to build a major solar thermal power plant in eastern Mojave Desert wilderness that Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein wants to transform into a national monument.
The announcement ended a long-running dispute between backers of renewable energy and environmentalists strongly opposed to the idea of creating an industrial zone within 600,000 acres of former railroad lands that had been donated to the Department of Interior for conservation.
Environazis were concerned that building a solar plant in the desert would be offensive to plants and reptiles.
Again we see that what the extremely powerful environmental left objects to is not coal or oil or nuclear power per se, but any generation of any energy anywhere. In short, it objects to human civilization.

Vilar has committed 15 abortions in 16 years. Here's how ABC sees fit to report on her accomplishment, and on her attempt to exploit it for financial gain:
Irene Vilar worries that her self-described "abortion addiction" will be misunderstood, twisted by the pro-life movement to deny women the right to choose.
Her book, "Impossible Motherhood," which will be released by Other Press on Oct. 6, chronicles her own dark choices: 15 abortions in 16 years, much of it as a married woman.
As press on the book has begun to leak out, Vilar — a literary agent and editor — says she has already sensed "an inkling of hatred."

The Prince, who has two Jaguars, two Audis, a Range Rover and still drives an Aston Martin given to him by the Queen on his 21st birthday, said developers had a duty to put public transport and the pedestrian at the heart of their housing schemes.
This is why I just cannot take Global Warming seriously. Prince Charles, Al Gore, Robert F. Kennedy, Arianna Huffington, Thomas Friedman and all the other members of the Carbon Cult prodigiously enjoy all the luxuries of hydrocarbon consumption... gas-guzzling cars, private jets, gigantic homes, world travel ... but seek to deny any measure of those benefits to the working classes. It's why I suspect that the point of Global Warming hysteria isn't so much to "save the Earth" as it is to get all the unwashed masses off the freeways, off the airplanes, and off the beaches so the wealthy can have them all to themselves, while getting even richer through the Enron-scheme of selling worthless carbon credits for huge amounts of government-mandated money.

Schools Still Staging Rent
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:23 AM | Comments (29)
Moonbat educrats continue to combine drama with sex ed and social engineering by having teenagers perform Rent, a Broadway musical that wallows in corruption and depravity, as part of a campaign to mainstream homosexuality among youth. Appallingly, it will be staged by Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City. We've got our backs to the wall if kids aren't safe from degenerate brainwashing at a Catholic school in conservative Utah.
Over the weekend the cast and crew were to participate in an AIDS Foundation event in hopes of generating publicity. Needless to say, anyone who really wanted to fight AIDS would stop encouraging children to experiment with homosexuality.
If you would like to help promote Rent, drama director Darin Hathaway wants to hear from you at dhathaway@judgememorial.com.
No word yet on when high schools will start staging productions of The 120 Days of Sodom.

ObamaCare Land: Where Facts Are Fantasy
Posted by The MaryHunter at 5:53 AM | Comments (18)
We already know that Our Dear Leader plays fast and loose with the facts when it comes to beguiling Americans to support Obama Care. This is just one example of the myriad lie tactics he has used: "if you don't have health insurance, then YOU WILL DIE." Our fanciful tale concerns one Otto S. Raddatz (God rest his soul), whom Chairman O used to paint a gloom-and-doom picture during his Joint Session of Congress:
"One man from Illinois lost his coverage in the middle of chemotherapy because his insurer found that he hadn't reported gallstones — that he didn't even know about — they delayed his treatment, and he died because of it."
But The Wall Street Journal reports Otto Raddatz did not die because of delays. His insurance policy was reinstated within three weeks and he later received a stem-cell transplant.
Raddatz died this year, nearly four years after the initial problems with his insurer. His sister, Peggy Raddatz, told the House Energy and Commerce Oversight Committee on June 16 that her brother received treatment that, "extended his life approximately three years."
But aides to the president insist he got the story essentially correct, because Raddatz did lose his insurance before the transplant.
Pathetic cover-ups of Obama's universal healthcare lies lies lies simply hasten the day when we'll see "Obama Care" writ large on one of these.

Who to Believe: Moonbats or Your Lying Eyes?
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:19 PM | Comments (39)
Progressives remain in denial regarding the massive turnout for the 9/12 March on Washington, going so far as to pretend the liberal establishment media's preposterous and easily debunked estimates of 60,000 to 70,000 are even remotely credible. A more serious analysis of the crowd size resulted in an estimate of 1.7 million.
Having provided the public with tangible proof of the crowd's size, Sophia Elena has found herself subject to the abuse and calumnies of liberals bitterly incapable of acknowledging the scale of the resistance they face from decent, patriotic Americans. Here she responds:

Some Americans are still denial that a guy who appoints avowed communists to his circle of advisors, pursues massive government intervention in the economy, seeks to redistribute wealth, and sides with Marxist dictators like Castro and Chavez against the free people of a sovereign country ... is probably a socialist himself. But the Communist Chinese are under no such delusions.
Update: I am informed via NRO that the Chinese characters say "Serve the People!" — a Maoist slogan, and are written in Mao's calligraphy.

Subject: The Cash for Clunkers Program
What the kool-aid drinking moonbats said: The Cash for Clunkers program is an "overwhelming success" for the Obama Administration. It marks a turning point in the recovery. It cleaned up the environment, reinvigorated the auto industry, and created thousands of jobs.
What the right said: The Cash for Clunkers program was a giant boondoggle. At a cost to the taxpayers of $3 billion to subsidize cars people probably would have bought anyway, it provided a one-time boost for August sales while cannibalizing sales for the rest of the year. (Not to mention punishing those who had bought fuel efficient cars in the years prior.)
The Verdict? Here ya go...
Edmunds.com reports that “September’s light-vehicle sales rate will fall to 8.8 million units . . . the lowest rate in nearly 28 years, tying the worst demand on record. After the cash-for-clunkers program boosted August sales to their first year-over-year increase since October 2007, demand has plunged. In at least the last 33 years, the U.S. seasonally adjusted annual rate has only dropped as low as 8.8 million units once — in December 1981 — with records stretching back to January 1976.”
This is the type of FAIL we can expect from people with no practical knowledge of business, markets, or economics. BTW, they also want to manage health insurance.

Commie President to Pursue Unilateral Disarmament
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 3:42 PM | Comments (27)
The leftist two-bong-hit pipe dream of the 1980's --- the unilateral disarmament of the United States --- is on the verge of becoming the official policy of the United States under the jug-eared Marxist radical in the White House. First, he has abandoned missile defense to ensure that the US is vulnerable to attack, now, he's ready to dismantle our nuclear deterrent, as the UK Guardian reports
Obama has rejected the Pentagon's first draft of the "nuclear posture review" as being too timid, and has called for a range of more far-reaching options consistent with his goal of eventually abolishing nuclear weapons altogether, according to European officials.
His intermediate goal is to cut the US nuclear arsenal from 2,100 warheads down to a few hundred, with global disarmament to follow. Yeah, good luck at getting the Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians, the Pakistanis and Venezuelans to drink the "No Nuke" bongwater with you, Jughead.

British Nanny State Confiscates Children for Being Overweight
Posted by Van Helsing at 12:58 PM | Comments (18)
If you want to know just how far authoritarian do-gooders will push statist intrusion in a country still widely regarded as "free," have a look at the surreal dystopia known as Airstrip One, where bureauweenies continue to confiscate children for not conforming to the government-mandated body mass index:
A couple soon expecting their seventh child has had their fifth and sixth taken by social workers after warnings that the family needed to slim down their overweight kids or risk losing custody. …
The family's 3- and 4-year-old have been moved into foster care, and STV [Scottish Television] reports the parents have been told "active steps" are being taken to remove the remaining children as well.
Experts contacted by STV warn that local authorities in the U.K., such as Dundee's City Council, which oversees the decision to remove the children, now treat obesity as an "abuse issue."
It is now "child abuse" not to regulate your child's weight according to official expectations. This is why it matters when liberals distort the meaning of terms.
To an extent, the parents asked for it:
The couple originally contacted social workers last year, seeking help with managing their children, STV reports, but local officials soon began to grow concerned about the children's weight.
Let that be a lesson to anyone who would consider asking Big Government for help.

London Telegraph Tosses Obama Under the Bus
Posted by The MaryHunter at 11:12 AM | Comments (12)
I believe it was one of those neato, bright-red, double-decker tourist buses that just squished Chairman Obama, courtesy of Edward Lucas at the London Telegraph. While trying to let Obama ride with respect to the enormity of the presidential "to-do list" he faces, Lucas then runs him over:
The grizzled veterans of the Democratic leadership in Congress have found Mr Obama and his team of bright young advisers a pushover. That has gravely weakened his flagship domestic campaign, for health-care reform, which fails to address the greatest weakness of the American system: its inflated costs. His free trade credentials are increasingly tarnished too. His latest blunder is imposing tariffs on tyre imports from China, in the hope of gaining a little more union support for health care. But at a time when America's leadership in global economic matters has never been more vital, that is a dreadful move, hugely undermining its ability to stop other countries engaging in a ruinous spiral of protectionism.
Despite disagreeing with the Bush missile-shield plan, Lucas couldn't pass up mentioning The Immaculator's "offensively casual treatment of east European allies such as Poland" which came across as a "naïve appeasement of the regime in Moscow." There's keen perception for you, rarely seen in the American state-run media.
In summary, Mr. Lucas observes:
Mr Obama has tactics a plenty - calm and patient engagement with unpleasant regimes, finding common interests, appealing to shared values - but where is the strategy? What, exactly, did "Change you can believe in" – the hallmark slogan of his campaign – actually mean?
When the usual America-hating, Bush-bashing suspects find themselves wondering whether he is "beginning to look out of his depth," one wonders to what new depths the Obsequiator-in-Chief will sink, so as to get the world to love and respect him again. (Never mind the USA.)

Veracious Symbolism
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:50 AM | Comments (7)

Moonbattery reader Jed comments on the Obama emblem used at Democrat propaganda sites:
It's insulting enough that it appears as if this eagle has had the wind knocked out of him by the Obama logo, some of the leaves have fallen off the olive branch, and apparently someone ate the olives.
Even more insulting is the White House's clear disregard for our patriotic symbolism.
Maybe Comrade Obama forgot to count, but our eagle holds 13 arrows; each one represents one of our original colonies. The Fascist Falange however has only five, held together with a yoke.
Either the liberal fascists running our country are totally clueless regarding political symbolism, or they understand it all too well.
Chaos, Destruction Expected as Moonbats Converge on Pittsburgh
Posted by Van Helsing at 9:23 AM | Comments (24)
An estimated 1.7 million patriots descended on Washington on 9/12, and left it looking at least as good as they found it. No one expects the same to hold true of the moonbats who will converge on Pittsburg for the G20 summit:
Barely a block from a parking lot where Pittsburgh will house protesters of the Group of 20 summit is one of the city's most eclectic neighborhoods — a strip of mom-and-pop, homegrown grocery stores, restaurants and businesses that exemplify the kind of world the protesters say they want.
However, fears of violent clashes, property damage or simply a traffic nightmare are forcing some businesses in the city's Strip District to close during the two-day summit — possibly even board up their windows — and miss what they say could potentially be a booming sales opportunity.
"We're a small mom-and-pop business and I'd rather lose business for two days than risk getting caught in something that could get violent," said Lisa Karsenic, owner of Two Louie's Market, a small deli and grocery store less than a block from the parking lot where protesters will gather. …
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Pittsburgh to protest everything from globalization, policies they view to be harmful to the environment, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and even mega-corporations, the types of businesses conspicuously absent in the Strip District. …
Then there are the rumors: shop windows have already been broken; human feces has been left at different establishments; dispersing the crowd in the evening from the parking lot will lead to clashes; protesters have nowhere to go out at night so they will cause trouble. …
Amy Rosenfield, owner of Mon Aimee Chocolat, a shop that specializes in artisan chocolates produced by people who work directly with plantations that grow organic beans, is concerned that broken store windows combined with autumn heat could — quite literally — melt away her inventory.
Moonbat groups have plans to target specific businesses for harassment and destruction for daring to participate in the American way of life. Armed forces recruiting stations are also expected to be hit.
Needless to say, no one felt the need to board up windows in DC, despite a vastly larger crowd of patriots. It isn't hard to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys.

ACORN Closing Down 40% of its Offices
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 8:41 AM | Comments (10)

ACORN was where the Moonbat Messiah got his street cred as community agitator. ACORN was the unsung hero (to the left) of the 2008 elections. The same Barack Obama who claims he knows nothing ... NOTHING ... about ACORN gave them $800,000 out of his campaign coffers for "get out the vote" activities. ACORN's questionable voter tactics secured a margin of Obamacrat victory in normally sane states like North Carolina and Indiana. Despite (or perhaps because of) multiple allegations of and indictments for voter fraud, ACORN secured millions, perhaps billions, in the Spendulus package as a payoff from grateful Obamacrats.
But, alas, an intrepid duo of documentary film-makers (O'Keefe and Giles), a blogger (Breitbart), and a talk show host (Beck) exposed the fact that ACORN was nothing else but a criminal enterprise designed to shakedown the taxpayers for money, As a result, both branches of Congress have moved to defund ACORN, and the shakedown artists have been forced to close 40% of their offices in cities like Chicago, Salt Lake City, and New Orleans, and are no longer signing up new members. ACORN claims it's because of the "poor economy," which we know is bull because in a poor economy an organization like that backed by millions in taxpayer funding should be expanding.
This explains the deranged hatred of the left toward Glenn Beck. It must suck to be a leftist and have someone you've derided as an idiotic "mad man" expose and destroy one of your key players.

ObamaCare Tampon Tax
Posted by Van Helsing at 8:21 AM | Comments (11)
Over and over, Candidate Obama promised that 95% of Americans would pay less in taxes if he took power. Yet the Baucus bill — which Chairman Zero's allies in Congress may ram through with the nuclear option — taxes items used by far more than 5% of us, including tampons, contact lens solution, and condoms.
Rick Tyler of Renewing American Leadership comments:
[W]hat I think people are beginning to understand is when President Obama said in the speech, "I will not pass this if it adds a single dollar to the deficit," and what he means by that, and what he didn't say, and what hasn't been covered, is that when you don't add a single dollar to the deficit to pay for this massive increase in spending, you have to increase taxes. …
So, since King George put a tax on tea 236 years ago, we've gone from a revolt from a tax on tea to a revolt on Obama's tax on tampons. And it is not because people are racist or have a propensity to violence, they're just against it, and people understand that every tax is an encroachment on freedom.
Something else people are beginning to understand is that no tampon tax is going to pay for socialized medicine. The biggest tax will come as more and more money is printed to pay for outrageous extravagances on the socialist wish list. The ensuing inflation will be a massive tax on every single person who uses American currency, whether they buy tampons or not.

The Facebook Hillbilly Beats the Teleprompter Messiah
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at 8:13 AM | Comments (57)
Dear Reader corralled up Congress so he could make his big pitch for Government Health Care. (Why force Congress to listen to a speech if no one's allowed to question him? It seems imperious and undemocratic to me, but I digress.) It failed to move the needle. So, Dear Reader went on five different TV networks to repeat his, by now, increasingly stale talking points, and only succeeded in making himself look like a jackass when challenged with the dictionary definition of tax increase. (BTW, the thing Dear Reader claims isn't a tax is called a tax in the Baucus Health Care bill.)
All the King's media and all the King's men still can't make Humpty Dumbass look anything like a competent president.
Meanwhile, private citizen Sarah Palin eschews media appearances, and with nothing more than a few Facebook posts has had more effect on the debate over Government-Controlled Health Care. Obamacrats hated her for labeling government efforts to discourage life-extending care 'Death Panels,' but it rattled them enough to take those provisions out of the bill. And it got under Dear Reader's skin enough that he brings up the phrase repeatedly when trashing opposition to his bill. Partly because of the objections she and talk radio have raised about its enormous cost, increased regulation, and unintended consequences, a 56% majority of the public opposes Government-Controlled Health Care.
Sarah Palin accomplishes more with two Facebook posts than Dear Reader accomplishes with all the media in the world at his back.
But we're supposed to believe he's a super-genius and she's a dumb hillbilly.

Even Sweden Turns Away From Socialism
Posted by Van Helsing at 7:42 AM | Comments (3)
As the moonbats running the federal government steer America off the rails into socialism, countries that have already made that mistake are struggling to get their economies back on track:
Sweden's centre-right government on Saturday announced income tax cuts of 10 billion kronor to stimulate the job market, its primary objective. … The proposal, to be presented to parliament on Monday as part of the 2010 budget bill, is the fourth leg of a tax cut programme introduced in January 2007 to stimulate employment. …
"The coalition government has agreed on reforms for jobs and entrepreneurialism that will increase employment in the long-term. It has to be more profitable to work and more companies should be able to hire employees," the government said.
Since coming to power in late 2006, the government has launched a series of measures aimed at inciting Swedes to return to the job market instead of living off of state subsidies.
No matter how many times you add two and two, you get four. Similarly, no matter how many times progressives impose socialism, it does not work. Freedom does.
Unfortunately it is much easier to put people on the government dole than to get them off it — as the current gang in DC is well aware.

Obama Thwarts NY Gov. Patterson's Election Prospects
Posted by The MaryHunter at 5:38 AM | Comments (10)
President Obama does, yet again, that which he has become so profoundly adept: tossing folks under the bus. This time, it's not his granddad or even his wife (for that ridiculous stunt she pulled last week, at profound taxpayer expense). It is none other than a fellow African American executive office holder: the hapless New York Governor David Patterson:
The notion that the nation's first black president would be responsible for destroying the candidacy of New York's first black governor left some of the state's normally voluble Democratic officials speechless -- but not surprised.
That's because Obama, unlike Gov. Paterson, was elected to his job, and thus is sensitive to the implications of a chief executive having no prospect of being elected to his, especially in a key Democratic state.
Obama knows that Paterson is the most unpopular governor in the United States, and -- given the problems that are racking so many states -- that's saying a lot.
Our Dear Leader may be a radical socialist miscreant, but he's no fool. He knows that the inept Gov. Patterson is exquisitely unable to be elected, let alone to be an effective political ally in this lynchpin Northeast liberal bastion. It is ironic, though, that we can actually see in Gov. Patterson's misdeeds a reasonable reflection of The Anointed One's White House exploits:
Whether it was his massive state spending and tax increases in the face of a deteriorating economy, his favoritism toward friends and cronies in hiring and handing out raises, … or, most recently, his bizarre claim that he -- along with Obama -- were or soon would be victims of a white-controlled media conspiracy, Paterson has single-handedly turned what was initially an overwhelmingly supportive and sympathetic New York electorate against him.
Hmmm... sounds... so... familiar...
If there's anything we've learned from Jimmy Carter, it's that if you disagree with or don't support a Black politician, then you are a racist. QED: Obama is a racist. In fact, BHO is actually supporting the white guy, Andrew Cuomo, over the black candidate. That makes him way racist.
