War on Terror Is Officially Over

Great news — if you're a terrorist: the War on Terror is officially over. I wish I could say the same for terror's war on us.

It's official. The U.S. is no longer engaged in a "war on terrorism." Neither is it fighting "jihadists" or in a "global war."
President Obama's top homeland security and counterterrorism official took all three terms off the table of acceptable words inside the White House during a speech Thursday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank.
"The President does not describe this as a 'war on terrorism,'" said John Brennan, head of the White House homeland security office, who outlined a "new way of seeing" the fight against terrorism. …
Mr. Brennan's speech was aimed at outlining ways in which the Obama administration intends to undermine the "upstream" factors that create an environment in which terrorists are bred.
The president's adviser talked about increasing aid to foreign governments for building up their militaries and social and democratic institutions, but provided few details about how the White House will do that.

Even without the details, the overall picture is clear: our liberal rulers steal our money and give it as protection money to regimes that sponsor terrorists. Elections have consequences, all right.

With the WoT behind us, we can focus on more important issues, like nationalizing the entire economy one sector after another, and running up a deficit so huge that taxes can never be cut again.

So... who won?

Posted by: IOpian at August 7, 2009 7:20 AM

Who won? Certainly not the American people. Nor the people of Iran, or Honduras, or, well just name a country, and Obama will throw it under the bus.

well, we wouldn't want to offend people who want to destroy our ways of life - words hurt - and all that other leftard think!

that's priceless, iopian.

I suppose he'll increase foreign aid without increasing the deficit just like all the other money that has to be created from nothing that he's spending without increasing the deficit.
He thinks we're as stupid as he is.

WaPo Columnist: Republicans who oppose ObamaCare are terrorists. So, maybe the war on terror isn't over after all. We've just changed the definition of terrorist from "a fanatic who brutally murders innocent people" to "anyone who opposes the Obamunist agenda."

Yeah I can see how Obama is looking for a way to stand down and disengage internationally to focus his attention on the real enemy... ordinary responsible Americans capable of making their own decisions.

Obama his polls continue to fall what he going to do in 2012 if he ends up voted out of america entierly?

Oh, goody. What a relief! War on terror is officially over. Now, we can FINALLY get back to the war on poverty as declared by Lindon Johnson.

Posted by: Graycat at August 7, 2009 8:39 AM

If it's over why are the troops still overseas? Could it be that Obama fears the return of these troops? He has good reason,I would bet.

Hey, give 'em a chance. It sounds like they're going to put saltpeter in the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. That might work.

Spurwing,

Hopefully he will be frog-marched out of the White House and given a lovely pair of orange coveralls and nice secure place to live for twenty years.

Well he is going to take credit even if the economy heals of it own accord as many have predicted. So I am sure he is going to take credit for winning in Iraq and turning tail and running from Afghanistan. This history has already been decided.

Taking credit for others efforts is just wired into the liberal mind. John Kerry has a lavish life provided by the wealth created by a Republican and he acts as if it was his brilliance that created it. Even humanity has a form of leech. Then there is Bill Clinton taking credit for the tech boom. The surplus didn't derive from any effort of his own but rather private enterprise taking the ball of the new Web and running with it. So if you want to assign credit point it at silicon valley and Dell computers. In fact, he sucked so bad that the Congress was handed over to the Republicans and prevented his meddling in the economy.

We don't have the time or space to even go into the Kennedys.

Of course bombing another country doesn't make more terrorists, it makes them love us!

If you can't actually find the terrorists, just pick a country to bomb, that'll scare the terrorists even if they aren't in that country!

I see your way of thinking now ... its so obvious, and works so well! Thanks for opening my eyes.

"even if the economy heals of it own accord"
Of course if he does turn things around, you still won't be able to give him any credit, will you? Its easier to cling feebly to your old ideas than be open to a new one.

You want to talk about past presidents taking credit for things they supposedly had nothing to do with, but I don't see you praising the economy during the Reagan and Bush eras. hmmmm. Just bad timing I guess huh? Administrations have nothing to do with the economies they only run in name. Really its just luck of timing with the markets.

Again, perfect logic. You guys are soooo on target.

As a proud member of "Janet's list" I'm glad to say its about time this stupid war is over so we can concentrate on the true enemies of America. The productive, profit makers who have been using the backs of the labor force to climb to obscene heights in the world of high finance and tax evasion.
Anonymous, your a puss.

Anonymous is right. We should just hug it out with the terrorists, the way we did with the Germans and Japanese. That sure avoided a lot of unpleasantness.

My baby-seeking/solder and war material-avoiding bomb is about ready for testing.

Say, how old are you?

The Democratic controlled US Government has stated that the debates are over, and if you want to debate on merit, you are a Nazi Terriorist.

The new message is “If you vote for Cap and Trade or for Nationalized Health Care, you will be voted out at your next election!”
