Soon to Be a Relic

Here's something you won't see in a country with socialized medicine:

PrivateHealthCare.jpg

Under free enterprise, the customer is always right. Under socialism, the customer is another mouth to feed. Anyone who has complaints about our healthcare now is invited to wait a few years, until the Dems have taken it over.

Compliments of Lyle.

Can we copy that sign and stick it in the local DMV?

I am reminded that when Britain became alarmed at the number of patients forced to wait hours at hospitals for treatment under NHS, they passed a new law requiring every patient to be treated within two hours of setting foot in hospital.

So, to comply, they keep patients waiting outside in ambulances for hours because the clock doesn't start until they are inside the door.

Socialism at work.

V the K, I had an argument with a guy from Great Britain recently that went much along the same lines. I said that on average it takes a person in Great Britain 12 months to get a hip replacement. He said that was impossible because legally they had to schedule surgery within 3 weeks of seeing the GP. So I asked him how long it takes to see a GP if you have a bad hip. I guess I wasn't supposed to ask that obvious of a question because he never responded to it, but if he had I have a feeling he would have said, "A little more than 11 months."

After Obamacare passes the signs must be reworded:
If you have been waiting less than 10 months to see a doctor please notify scheduling so we can assure that next time it is a minimum of 20 months so we can be fair.

As someone who recently spent 3 hours to see a Nurse Practitioner (not an M.D., mind you) for a SCHEDULED appointment (and I have good insurance), I am NOT looking forward to the coming "one-for-all and all-for-one" health care.

Posted by: MoogieP at August 19, 2009 2:28 PM

Of course not! Why would you care about making sure everyone has basic health care? If you have to wait a little while to get it, f**k the other guy! You're WAY more important than him!

Of course, more customers means more business for insurance and for doctors, but who cares about that either I suppose. I mean, its POSSIBLe that YOU will have to wait longer. And the Insurance industry has always had you nest interests at heart all along.

Are you even aware that over 30% of the money that you give to your insurance company is used to shuffle paperwork? And that most of that paperwork money and the staff that reviews it is in the form of coverage denials and claim denials? So basically thirty cents of every dollar that you pay is spent making sure that someone else who pays on your plan (maybe next time, it'll be YOU) won't get the coverage that they've been paying for all along.

When I was just out of the Service, I refused to go to the VA for anything. I refuse to do so. Too many horror stories witnessed by me and related to me. Since leaving the service, I have had private insurance.

Starting out, the only insurance I could afford wasn't all that great but for the lowest priced coverage I could afford, I was able to have a dangerous heart arrhythmia surgically corrected along with regular follow up care and not wind up flat broke. In fact, considering the cost of the procedures, care and meds, I came out way ahead even with the cheapest insurance.

Leftists have this image of Conservatives living in mansions, riding in limos and sipping Dom Perignon. Typical liberal indoctrination. The idea of a hard working, middle class Conservative doesn't enter their minds.

I am not wealthy by any means. I work hard, I pay my bills and I live simply as well as take care of my health by eating right, exercising regularly and avoiding caffeine, not smoking, etc.

Liberals, by and large, and the dupes who follow them generally don't like working and expect Uncle Sucker to siphon off everyone else's hard earned wages.

If someone is genuinely physically, mentally or psychologically disabled or has fallen on hard times and needs a leg up, I have no problem with public funds being available to them.

But there are entire sections of the nation who expect a living just to be handed to them because they are too lazy or feel somehow entitled to not actually having to provide for themselves.

Or if they do, they blow money left and right on crap they don't need and can't afford. They manage their finances worse than the Democratic Congress.

Except one has recourse against private corporations. One does not have recourse against the Federal government.

There are numerous other arguments against socialized medicine made on this site and others, but nothing can pierce the liberal indoctrination that has you and your fellow trolls so in thrall.

"Leftists have this image of Conservatives living in mansions, riding in limos and sipping Dom Perignon."

Uh correction, if you want the ugly cartoon we think of in contrast to your "moonbat" image of us, we have a vision of the right wing voters as living in double wides, with double-wide asses, thumping their bibles and listening to Rush with avid empty heads. Just to set you straight on that one.

"Liberals, by and large, and the dupes who follow them generally don't like working and expect Uncle Sucker to siphon off everyone else's hard earned wages."

No we're also hard working folks just like you. Much as you would love to simplify us and make us into this vision of people that are easy to hate, we're not that. You know better. We're your neighbors and coworkers, and fellow business owners. I don't believe the cartoon above about you. Do me the favor of not being so simple minded that you make me into your easy-to-hate generalization.

"If someone is genuinely physically, mentally or psychologically disabled or has fallen on hard times and needs a leg up, I have no problem with public funds being available to them."

Then why all the fuss? My story is not all that dire, but still 20 years ago, in my 20's, I broke my arm in a couple of places while I was working for a national company and uninsured. My bill for surgery (plate and pins in my wrist) was $25,000 which I had to came up with 25% of before they would schedule me for surgery. Sounds like the udly government plan you're trying to paint, doesn't it?

You think Big insurance has your interests at heart? They don't. You are really kidding yourself.

"Except one has recourse against private corporations."

If by recourse you mean a near-pointless battle that they can afford to tie up in the courts for years, then yeah. Its great fun and so productive. Try taking out a suit against an insurance company. You'll find that you'll actually have more luck suing the feds.

"but nothing can pierce the liberal indoctrination'

That's your refrain. Throw up some arguments and its all "but you don't listen!" Wah Wah.

I'm listening. WHat you're saying doesn't make sense.

The thing that always surprises me most about conservatives is that you claim to be for the little guy, but your policies are always about the big guy. Your supposed "tax cuts" always favor the fat cats and do nothing for lower middle class folks like myself. While Dem's supposed "tax hikes" that you're always bitching about always turn out to be a tax break for me. The hikes are on the upper 5% and don;t affect us working class folk, while appropriately named "trickle down" is really about pissing on the poor.

"there are entire sections of the nation who expect a living just to be handed to them"

Medical care is hardly a living. It merely keeps people alive and healthy, it doesn't actually pay them a wage. Those are separate programs... keep them straight, eh?

Once again: NOT reading anything signed Anonymous.

In response to the broken arm person: did you purchase insurance while working for the "national company"? Why not? Presuming for the moment that the situation I was in in my 20's appplies here, you were more interested in paying for the things you wanted than the things you felt you were less likely to need.
There are other (better) solutions to the health care problem. Tort reform (lower cost of operation for providers), portability (interstate competition for insurance companies), menu type plans (pick only the coverages you want (my current situation, married with kids, I don't need elderly care), and finally lessen the influence of government on health care not increase it. Remember the biggest lie ever told, "I'm from the government and I am here to help you".

As a Canadian I can assure you that you are quite correct - you will never see such a sign. Image a DMV with the same sign and you'll get the idea.
