One of Dead Ted's favorite source of humor was Mary Jo's drowning. What can one say about this? The people who got freebies form him will love him regardless of how he treated the rest of the human race. *sigh*

The MJK incident was a truly tragic but three separate investigations concluded that it was an accident under the law as then in effect. The Birchers and similar people of the breitbart venomous mentality will sink to any level to besmirch the actions of someone they can never hope to match. Senator Kennedy will go down in history as one of the most important legislatures in our history in spite of the radical hatefilled re!ch wing.

Bachmann is a product of the Doug Coe theocratic fasc!st underground that has cells throughout the nation. These people, all too many in our government, believe in a form of 'the divine right of kings' of in their way 'the divine right of wealth'. They believe and teach that unions are against god, that helping the poor is up to society not government, and that the wealthy are chosen by god to lead and that ultimately this nation must be transformed into a theocratic dictatorship.

Van Helsings story about a Brit who had a botched operation as somehow being a product of socialized medicine. That is a non-sequitur. He fails to acknowledge that the "capitalistic health care system" we have produces over 50,000 medical accidental deaths each year, not to include the
1 million + each year that die because they have no access to medical care.

Posted by: colonelmac at August 28, 2009 12:36 PM

Giving stuff to undeserving people in order to get them to vote for you does not constitute "important legislation."

He left her underwater for 10 hours before calling police. He left her to die. That part is not an accident.

Posted by: mandy at August 28, 2009 12:36 PM

Wow... colonelmac, you have many facts mixed up but I'll point out the most glaring.

1 million + each year that die because they have no access to medical care.

Single Payer Association stated only 60 deaths per day because of "no access to medical care." Extrapolate that out to an entire year... 60*365= 21,900. You're off by a magnitude of at least 4500%.

You sir, need to consult your "superiors" and get your consistency in order.

Posted by: nancz at August 28, 2009 1:03 PM

AmericanToTheCore, how in the world do they come up with 60 deaths per day because of "no access to health care?" I suspect any figures that come from leftwing organizations. 60 deaths a day would have been making headlines for some time now. I don't think even Obama, the world's most successful liar, has told that whopper.

Posted by: Kevin R. at August 28, 2009 1:06 PM

Total annual deaths in the USA are 2,426,264. For moonbatmax to be right, nearly half the deaths are caused by lack of access to health-care-that-somebody-else-pays-for.

Posted by: V the K at August 28, 2009 1:17 PM

Beyond me how they arrived at the "60 deaths per day" number but it stands against colonelmacs estimate of 1M+ per year.

Regardless, they're both disconnected from reality and plugged directly into the fantasyland that Obamadinejad has planted into that empty space where a brain normally resides.

Here's where that Single-Payer Action tard says 60/day (maybe he said 16, somewhat inaudible) die everyday - either way, he's out of his mind and FURTHER deviates from colonelmac's number of 1M+

The waitress staff at La Brasserie could not be reached for comment:

"Dodd and Kennedy were also reported to have made a 'human sandwich' with a waitress at La Brasserie, another Capitol Hill restaurant. The report had it that Kennedy threw the woman on Dodd, who was slumped in a chair, and then jumped on top of her. She was said to have run screaming from the room."
"When she put in an appearance in their private retreat - 'The Teddy Kennedy Fun Room' - the Massachusetts senator picked her up and heaved her onto a table. The crystal candlesticks and champagne glasses shattered as he grabbed her again and flung her on top of Dodd.
"Then Kennedy threw himself on top of the woman. The waitress implored Mr. Kennedy to 'Get off me!'
"Another waitress entered to find 'things all tipped over and Kennedy was on top, [the waitress] was in the middle and Dodd was on the bottom.' At that point the sandwich was disassembled."

Interesting the people the left chooses to make heroes out of.

Posted by: V the K at August 28, 2009 1:22 PM

So what! Ted Kennedy and Chris Dodd may have raped a few waitresses, but Mark Sanford had a girlfriend in Argentina. And that is exactly equally as bad.

Posted by: Goatse Wellstoned at August 28, 2009 1:23 PM

A better way to look at health care is how many people are saved because of it rather than how many people die without it.

Modern medicine is not like water or air or food. It does not pop out of the ground like mushrooms at night. It was developed of centuries of hard work by dedicated men. It is a bonus to human existence, not the cause of of it. And it certainly isn't "owed" to anyone.

Black ChappaquiddiCare-Supporting Congresswoman: Opponents Trying to Destroy First President "Who Looks Like Me"

Yes, indeed! It's all about race. How I remember we screamed and screeched when that black-as-the-ace-of-spades Bill Clinton sent his kinky-haired wife Hillary to Capitol Hill to sell the plan that Kool-cigarettes-enthusiast Howard Ickes had come up with.

We just opposed that plan because all those swarthy African-Americans (we all come from Africa, you know) had come up with it -- Bill "B. Diddy" Clinton, Hillary "LadyHuimpz" Clinton, and Howard "Kid Grind" Ickes. That whole posse of electric boogaloo DC MCs and all of their DJs, dancers, and special guest robot-voice vocalists.

Posted by: mega at August 28, 2009 2:00 PM

Yes, it's been developed over centuries of hard work, and it requires specialized skills, many supplies, and some pretty expensive equipment. IT CANNOT BE A RIGHT. How can one person have a right to that which belongs to another? Doctors and nurses spend years studying for their skills. They deserve to be paid a lot. Someone OWNS all the supplies and equipment. They deserve to be paid for their use. It's not a right, it's a product/service. If healthcare is not a right, how can healthcare insurance be a right? A lot of people have lost touch with a lot of things.

Tidbits: Howie, Cindy, Teddy, and Barry

Screamin’ Howie Dean Finally Makes Some Sense: With nothing to lose, DNC Chairman Dr. Howard Dean went down a road Democratic officeholders fear to tread. Marginalized in his position by the Obama administration, he dared expose one of the principal flaws in Obamacare: the absence of any move toward tort reform. He further dared to define the reason–fear of the Trial Lawyers Association, which feeds more money into Democratic Party coffers than any other single group: http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/53126.

One should not bite the hand that fees one so, should Obamacare become law, even the most skilled and dilligent doctors will still order test after test, prescribe med after med, lest a rapacious lawyer, like former Senator John Edwards, descend on them.

Silly Cindy Sheehan Re-directs Fire: Poor Cindy. She gained widespread notoriety by sensationalizing the death of her son, Casey, in Iraq, with Camp Casey squatting outside George W. Bush’s Crawford, Texas compound. Now she has a new enemy, Barack Obama. Complaining that the new president isn’t much different from the old with his Iraq and Afghanistan policies, Sheehan has laid siege to Martha’s Vineyard where the Obama family is vacationing: http://bit.ly/ONmQy.

She’s discovered that the more things change, the more they remain the same but that life as a tool of the left in her capacity of anti-war activist just ain’t the same since the media is much more forgiving when it comes to a president they idolize as opposed to one they loathed.

Dying Teddy Kennedy Got Religion: The “Liberal Lion” sent a secret note to Pope Benedict XVI last month via delivery-boy extraordinaire, Barack Obama. . .

Berlet, I guess even though Sheehan's a hideous, repulsive, exploitative, manipulative, brainless, hate- filled hag, at least she's consistent.
Fortunately, her 15 minutes of fame ended years ago. The left once idolized her (One poster on DU once claimed that Sheehan was the spiritual reincarnation of the Greek goddess Demeter), but now even ultra- liberals are sick of her.

So, V the Kitten, let me get this straight...a mere 4 weeks ago you defending a Sgt. in Cambridge for arresting a man in his home who didn't follow his orders. And now, you are offended that an officer tells someone to do something, which would fall under school grounds free speech. Is that correct? The right-wing double standard is astonishing.

I want you to think back a bit, how many students were suspended from schools for Bush t-shirts with his image stating "World's #1 Terrorist" or "Not my President!"? Why you ask, because they were picturing one person in a school's not so free speech zone. So, the applied fullmooner standard, is if a liberal appears to show an offensive image, is stopped by the police and keeps talking he should be arrested, right? If it is a conservative, then it is patriotic dissent? You Goddamn hypocrites!

Cultural Marxism

Linda Kimball

Conservative Underground

There are two misconceptions held by many Americans. The first is that communism ceased to be a threat when the Soviet Union imploded. The second is that the New Left of the Sixties collapsed and disappeared as well. “The Sixties are dead,” wrote columnist George Will (”Slamming the Doors,” Newsweek, Mar. 25, 1991).

Because the New Left lacked cohesion, it fell apart as a political movement. However, its revolutionaries reorganized themselves into a multitude of single-issue groups. Thus we now have for example, radical feminists, black extremists, anti-war ‘peace’ activists, animal rights groups, radical environmentalists, and ‘gay’ rights groups. All of these groups pursue their piece of the radical agenda through a complex network of organizations such as the Gay Straight Lesbian Educators Network (GSLEN), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), People for the American Way, United for Peace and Justice, Planned Parenthood, Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), and Code Pink for Peace.

Both communism and the New Left are alive and thriving here in America. They favor code words: tolerance, social justice, economic justice, peace, reproductive rights, sex education and safe sex, safe schools, inclusion, diversity, and sensitivity. All together, this is Cultural Marxism disguised as multiculturalism.

Um, from what I recall, they began losing their patience with her long before Obama became president. Considering that 1) As I said, everyone could see that she long since wore out her welcome, and 2) She tried to run against Nancy Pelosi in the elections, it's no wonder they turned against her.

We have been walking every morning for at least 2 hours. I have noticed that his muscles are beginning to tone up. we walk 7 days a week and I myself have lost 5 pounds. we have been at this for about three weeks, so much so that Chopper wakes me before my alarm nudging me and with happy growls.

Once I get out from under some of my debt, one more year approximately, then I will be in the position to rescue another large pooch from my area shelter. I will only go to shelters for my companions. They make the most grateful and loyal pets.

BTW......every night when I get home from work there is a 30 minute Wrestling match. This also helps when he uses his muscles and when I spend time combing him, every night cats included, he likes to get a rub down.

Yea.....I'm a big Ham when it comes to my boy.

Posted by: Dave at August 28, 2009 7:44 PM

Very cool Dave. I understand that "ham" mentality when it comes to our proud boys. Giles cannot do the long stretches of walks anymore with the short Basset legs, but he can still rough house. I may hit you up on advice should I adopt other than a Basset, while I love all dogs, they have been my breed of choice. Take care.Give Chopper a scratch from that liberal in Detroit.

You can't see the ribs on my dog and you can tell that my dog is well fed and extremely well groomed. I will also add that Chopper is very well trained. I did that myself because of where I live.

Don't come creepin' around my house or you will 95 ponds of chow/pit on your ass. All I have to do is say; GETEM CHOPPER!!!

The Brothers Emanuel Part Two: Rahm, the Jewish Himmler

(Please see “The Brothers Emanuel Part One: Ezekiel, the Jewish Mengele,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1188.)

If Ezekiel Emanuel is Obama’s Josef Mengele, then Rahm Emanuel is his Heinrich Himmler. Dr. Mengele was Hitler’s “Angel of Death,” Himmler his architect of merciless devastation and the Holocaust.

As Obama’s Chief of Staff and Senior Aide to the President, a heady position often termed the second most powerful in Washington, Rahm is charged with the duties of choosing and supervising the White House staff, determining who gets access to the president, and managing the flow of information the president sees and hears.

Above all, his responsibility is protecting the president’s interests and in that role he has great latitude in this administration, enabling him to set policy and to execute whatever measures as necessary to CTPA, Cover The President’s Ass.

There’s no doubt he’s been brutally efficient in the execution of his office, . .

Posted by: SK at August 29, 2009 12:35 AM

And now, you are offended that an officer tells someone to do something, which would fall under school grounds free speech.

Silly me, I thought people had a right to peaceably assemble and petition their government for a redress of grievances. But I guess, since 01.20.2009, we don't get to use that right any more either.

Posted by: V the K at August 29, 2009 5:11 AM

Starting your own what? Blog? Here's advice. Don't. One of three things will happen.

1. No one will read it, making you depressed.

2. Lots of people will read it, and you'll spend every day of your life trying to come up with five cheeky one-liners about lesbians making out in a panda cage, or something.

3. You'll get just enough readers to make the blog a time sink, but not enough to make you feel really fulfilled.

I've had all three.

Posted by: V the K at August 29, 2009 5:35 AM

I seriously question whether the dress code rules that are intended to prevent distractions in school should be applied to an adult demonstration that appeared to be held in the evening on school property. It would be interesting to test that theory, but can anyone deny that Cheeks, the cop, did a crappy job of explaining why the sign the guy was carrying was not allowed on school property?

Posted by: Judith M. at August 29, 2009 6:04 AM

As I understand it, Judith, school property is public property. And, you're right. The laws that govern a school acting in loco parentis are different than those for peaceful protesters lawfully assembling to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

Posted by: V the K at August 29, 2009 6:41 AM

Posted by: nancz at August 29, 2009 7:36 AM

Judith, I will give the officer did a poor job making his case. However, he made his point clear, "keep it out of sight, or I will arrest you". My point was that, the man continued to question the officer, and was not arrested. As I stated it was mere weeks ago most of you up in arms over the Gates/Crowley nonsense. And Gates was in his home, so you cannot have it both ways.

Dave, Jimbo, a quick note on the dog thing again. Jimbo, my sisters St. Bernard is 3, and 180 pounds, alot of dog. It is entertaining to see him and my 80 pound Basset together. Dave, I hear ya on the dogs in the neighborhood. Next to me is a rental house, which is good now, but the last people were the worst, They had a pit mix that was great. Animal control was worthless, I bought the food, I walked him, etc. So, I hear ya. He wound up being placed by PETA since a.c. was so bad. He has been placed in a home, and now doing great. I will say with PETA, I don't always agree with them, but glad they are there in cases like Scrappy's.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at August 29, 2009 8:30 AM

Actually, there is quite a large difference between the two cases, although someone like Goatse won't see it.

The officer in the Gates case was there to protect Gates's home from a suspected intruder and by all accounts was being polite and respectful. It was Gates was who acted obnoxiously by responding to a reasonable request by the officer by going on a racial rant.

In the latter case, a citizen in a public space, peacefully seeking to petition his government for a redress of grievance had his Constitutional Rights threatened by an obnoxious security officer, seeking to silence criticism of the Government.

Intelligent, reasonable people would recognize a difference. Goatse does not.

Posted by: V the K at August 29, 2009 8:57 AM

I agree, V the K, there is a substantial difference. Gates must have known that his behavior could be construed, at a minimum, as disturbing if not downright threatening. When he was warned that in Crowley's judgment his behavior was becoming disorderly and that he needed to tone it down, he should have done that if for no other reason than to be civil. In the second case, the cop (or was he a security guard?) made absolutely no sense when he was asked on what grounds he was demanding the sign be taken down. Because it had a picture? And the charge would be trespassing? How could the charge be trespassing? It was a public event. I think it's also telling that the Cheeks left the scene without further incident, probably because he realized he was being filmed.

Posted by: Judth M. at August 29, 2009 10:14 AM

Let's see...

Gates - possible breaking and entering. (investigating potential felony)
Cheeks - zomg sign (no concurrent investigation).

Notice the difference?

Rahm Emmanuel is not Himmler, fer Christ's sake. That kind of silly-ass "he's a Nazi" nonsense is hurting the cause, preventing the vast middle from taking the right seriously, and preventing a new generation of people from thinking clearly about and comprehending history's greatest crime. Those are three damn good reasons to ratchet back the Nazi-talk.

It is amusing that the uninformed reich wing does not even know who is pulling its strings. Prayers From The Children At Kennedy Funeral: Health Care For All

Prayers of the Faithful from the Children-Health Care....

Info: The kid is 12 year old Max Allen, the son of Kara Kennedy, Ted Kennedy's daughter...
Does anyone think this kid wrote this himself, who handed the prayer to him, Barack Obama?

Kennedy received the very best of private health care right up to his very last
breath, so the prayers should be for Government run Health Care to fail...

On his radio show, Rush pointed out how it would be an insult to put Ted Kennedy's name on a bill where the Government makes the decisions on Health Care for someone like Kennedy.

Seriously, you expect me to get all worked up about this group that's two sins according to liberals are that it is secretive and that it proclaims Jesus Christ as its leader? What about secretive groups like the Bilderbergers that have members that have gone on record saying they want to enslave the bulk of humanity? Sorry, but I feel more threatened by the Bilderbergers.

Judith, V the Kitten, your attempt is laughable. You ought to look a little further into C Street. Sanford, Ensign, Pickering and others gather in a cult like status to declare their public service as a message from God. According to them "God willed them to power", they are above morals and above the law. It is amusing that, like many, worship the Constitution but don't really like the part about separation of Church and State.

You may want to check out some of Jeff Sharlet's writings, who happened to live there. In the midst of law breaking etc, they are sworn to secrecy in the name of God. While, I am not a believer, I find it offensive that one would use power to mock another's faith.

The fact that Dems have been in power for three years trying to clean up GOP shit, has nothing to do with "The Family" other than they hide information in the name of your God. V, I will give Sharlet a bit more credibility than you, as he did live there. Further, your Bilderberger nonsense is pointless when speaking about this topic. I get your point but my point is simple, the democrats, like the blacks, have created their own persona about them. I just call it like I see it.

Posted by: Dave at August 30, 2009 3:07 PM

Dave, your perceived "persona" profiling is a Michael Steele talking point, you may want to fwd that to the RNC. Who labeled blacks, hippies, minorities, eco friendly tree hugging, otter scrubbing folks, deadheads, gays, and Hollywood liberals? The right-wing did, so you are not calling like see it, you are spitting up Hannity nonsense. I could tell stories of a up and coming right-winger who makes all of you look liberal, it includes drugs, alot of booze, strippers, theft, and many other indiscretions. By the standard set here, he would be a long hair liberal who "created his own persona", now he is on the air using Heritage studios.

On that note, I clearly admit there is Democratic corruption, and I do not need Malkin to point it out. Do yourselves a little justice and recognize the same. I put it this way, as far as The Family goes, who involved has been caught, and did they step aside like Spitzer and Edwards? No, they involve Tom Coburn to seal doctor patient confidentiality, even though he is an OBGYN. Off to walk the hound...

Well ghost lets take a look at your hypocrisy.

I have heard, with my own ears, elected democratic officials as well as the leftist drive by idiots call us Nazis, terrorist, unpatriotic, and unamerican. Any democratic labeling here? YUP!
BTW those hippie labels and what not were coined by the democrats of the Vietnam era. Oh and let us not forget about the 1968 DNC. Any recollection there, Ghost? When you guys are scared of someone, ie Joe the plumber and Sarah plain, you liberals and the state run media go into lets defame them mode. Ring a bell? Come on ghost we are not stupid here. It's obvious what the elitist liberals are up to and will do any thing to push their agenda which includes POWER grabbing.

Now back to the persona that the dems have created for themselves.

If you sleep on a pile of shit then you are going to smell like it.

Posted by: Dave at August 30, 2009 3:53 PM

Ghost, again, it seems the only problem you have with these people is that they are predominantly (but not exclusively) Republicans and they have a little money to play with. Cover ups of affairs? Are you kidding me? This from a member of the party that argued that affairs were normal and no one else's business? They believe that leaders were put there by God to do his will. Umm, how do I break it to you, the Bible actually makes the same claim. It might seem weird to a person who is Biblically illiterate and who construes any religious sensibility as evil, but to a normal Christian that statement is interpreted to mean "To whom much is given, much is expected."

Posted by: Judith M. at August 30, 2009 4:15 PM

Judith, the affairs are not my business. I actually like it that way. However, when politcal power is used to cover them up and tax dollars are used assist in the cover up, I take issue. The idea that you endorse cult like behavior in name of God is absurd Judith. Again, Republicans and Democrats are great, the former tends to more often than not forget about that "separation of Church and state." I will give you props on the Biblical reference, although you call me "Biblically illiterate", I believe you are misinterpreting it. It is astonishing that Christians brand atheists as heathens who never read or studied the Bible, yet will bastardize the written works in order gain power. Funny how that works.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at August 30, 2009 4:31 PM

And, in my church, we are taught that each of us s foreordained to fulfill a certain role in God's Plan. What's wrong with teaching legislators the same thing? Keeping them mindful that they have been given great responsibility, that they should thoughtfully consider how their votes will affect people, and that there will be eternal consequences for how they have used the power they have been given *ought* to be a way to keep them on the straight and narrow.

Posted by: V the K at August 30, 2009 4:34 PM

V, you make a decent argument for a change. However, if "foreordained" includes using tax dollars for a tryst to Argentina, or confessing your sins to a OBGYN so it can covered up, or paying off your lovers family, then hey, why the hell not?

That being said, I left the Church years ago, and walked away from religious beliefs because it has been used to garner power, no matter what affiliation. I am more than willing to have this debate, but V, please be adult.

Look no further than politicians like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, or George W Bush and the Clintons. God said this or that, neverminding what the laws say. Barack Obama was ambushed by Hillary to prove he is "Christian", and the right-wing ran away with that rhetoric, why? she wanted power. Palin and Bachman talk of hearing from God for their next political move to gain power. Bush invaded a country that was not a threat because apparently God wanted it. Again, I will give Judith props on her reference , but it has not been a greater good.

I will state this, Jesus probably existed, but not as the son of God, but as a man whose good was elevated by man. He is used as an excuse for every misdeed, crime and humiliation one can speak of. His word has not put lawmakers from either side on the "straight and narrow", but as a tool to get elected. Unfortunately the American people are naieve enough to fall for it.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at August 30, 2009 4:56 PM

As someone who has adopted and raised two foster children to adulthood, I am not about to be lectured on being "adult" by a guy who couldn't take responsibility for the life he created by knocking up his girlfriend. Posted by: Dave at August 30, 2009 7:40 PM

I don't support cult-like behavior, GoW, but thus far you've provided no proof that we are dealing with a cult as opposed to a voluntary association of like-minded individuals. I believe in freedom of association unless that freedom of association is abused to collude and commit crimes. You've provided no evidence of that that is occurring with The Family. I also think V the K is right that reminding Christian politicians of their duty to be moral leaders is a positive thing, because contrary to what even some Christians believe, true Christianity always starts with attention to one's PERSONAL behavior.

Posted by: Judith M. at August 30, 2009 9:50 PM

"The Family is about the other half of American fundamentalist power—not its angry masses, but its sophisticated elites. Sharlet follows the story back to Abraham Vereide, an immigrant preacher who in 1935 organized a small group of businessmen sympathetic to European fascism, fusing the Far Right with his own polite but authoritarian faith. From that core, Vereide built an international network of fundamentalists who spoke the language of establishment power, a “family” that thrives to this day. In public, they host prayer breakfasts; in private they preach a gospel of “biblical capitalism,” military might, and American empire. Citing Hitler, Lenin, and Mao, the Family's leader declares, "We work with power where we can, build new power where we can't."

Judith, blindly saying "they are just like minded individuals" is rather gullible. You state, "reminding Christian politicians of their duty to be moral leaders is a positive thing, because contrary to what even some Christians believe, true Christianity always starts with attention to one's PERSONAL behavior." Ok, even as an atheist, I will give you that. However, their personal behavior represents nothing that many of you preach as gospel regarding Christianity. Again, I am not saying they have broken any laws...yet however, lawmakers involved have not displayed anything but contempt for the people of this country and those close to them. And they hide behind Christianity, that is cult like.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at August 30, 2009 10:50 PM

GoW, Christians seldom approach perfection, but that doesn't mean they should quit trying. I mean, what do you propose, that they give up on aspiring to morality altogether? Do you honestly think that will make the world a better place?

And I think it is you, not me, that is being gullible. Let's unpack that quote of yours so I can show you why I'm not ready to jump on your bandwagon.

1. They were sympathetic to European fascists in 1935. Well, I hate to tell you, but many elites, both left and right were sympathetic to European fasciests at that time, including those heroes of the progressive movement, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt. These elites thought the fascists had hit upon a formula for improving the world from the top down and all that mattered was that the leaders had good intentions. They were wrong.

2. They host prayer breakfasts. My God, shoot them for treason! But while you're at it you might want to shoot all of the Presidents that attended them, which includes every last one since this tradition was started.

3. They support Biblical capitalism. You mean Biblical capitalism like those stories that tell the rich young man to give away everything he owns and follow Christ? Or that hoarding things is a bad idea because tomorrow you might die? Or pointing out that true Christianity means doing things like taking care of widows and orphans? The term "Biblical capitalism" is a little vague for me to get riled up about teaching it unless I know what precise things they are teaching about it. You, apparently, have filled in the blanks even though no details were given, I want specifics.

4. Citing Hitler, Lenin, and Mao, the Family's leader declares, "We work with power where we can, build new power where we can't." What does this even mean? They could have been citing Hitler, Lenin, and Mao as examples of power they couldn't work with. Or is that the problem you have with them? That they wouldn't work with Hitler, Lenin, and Mao?

5. Given that you haven't provided one shred of evidence other than insinuations that "this group is evil", I don't see how membership in it is contemptuous of the American people on the face of it. Show me some tangible evidence rather than mere insinuations that these people are working to destroy the American way of life (like ALL Alinsky followers are) and I'll put them on my enemies list.

Posted by: Judith M. at August 31, 2009 4:55 AM

Wow! Judith can you say denial? Again,it appears your issue with the Constitution, ya know that little "separation of church and state" thing. I did not say they were out to destroy America, I stated that along with their infidelity to their wives, there also some infidelity to the oath they took when they were sworn in. Many of you here speak of elitism on the left, what the hell do you think this is?

Started in 1935 to oppose the New Deal in the name of God, engage in trysts in the name of God, make deals with lobbyists in the name of God. Politics is not a rubix cube Judith, there is compromise and steadfast legislating, not calls from some spook in the sky.

I cannot say it enough, but backroom deals that undercut the American people is not progress. As a country we can do better, and there is plenty of blame to go around.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at August 31, 2009 8:18 AM

What you still fail to understand, Wellstone, is that your expecting me to believe something that is rather unbelievable--i.e., that large numbers of politicians have become members of this "cult" in order to "have affairs for God" (you'd think BiLL Clinton would have been all over that!) and "make deals with lobbyists in the name of God" (What deals? Making such a claim should be backed up with examples that can be verified, otherwise it's just innuendo.)

As for the Constitution, you seem to be missing the part about freedom of assembly and the actual meaning of "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;". If you want me to believe what you say about this group engaging in unconstitutional activities, tell me what specific legislation they have proposed that could be construed as establishing a religion? And don't tell me that applying religious moral principles constitutes establishing a religion, because it doesn't. If it did we couldn't have laws against murder.

And don't expect me to think they are evil because they opposed the New Deal, either. The New Deal was the most despicable power grab in presidential history up until the present day. It started us on our present trajectory toward a wretched, soon-to-be third world welfare state. And my feeling on this has nothing to do with my religion, because from what I've seen, most Catholics think the New Deal was an example of the beatitudes applied to politics actions.
