What about taking to the streets? They are not listening and only going through the motions. It was the crowds in the streets that changed the Vietnam war.

I recommend Thomas Sowell's "Conflict of Visions" as an indispensible tool to understanding and pre-empting moonbat policies.

The great thing about this site is that it doesnt take itself too seriously. It mixes in some good over the top parody and mocking of the Demo Nazis running the country into the ground with alot of good solid serious articles. Love the poster at the top.

Isn't free money wonderful? Once they have finished 'tweaking' the US Dollar, they will be able to make everyone multi-millionaires for free. Some may be so rich that they can use dollars for bum fodder.

Color me embarrassed. In my enthusiasm, I misread, thinking this site was a nominee, as opposed to being A respondent.
Doesn't change my sentiment about what's done to keep readers appraised of the seeming ubiquitous insanity to be found. Or my gratitude.

van - you're going to love this - notice how the people who were offended wadded the posters and threw them to the ground - LITTERBUGS! GIVE THEM A TICKET! also notice all the other staple marks - probably yard sale and lost pet signs.
oooh, he looked so gruesome and mean!

Unber-ironic (get it...uber?) considering the Bush admin's domestic spying et al.
I do find it funny that when Bush was behind creepy Orwellian surveillance state behavior or was arguing in court that he can revoke Habeas Corpus, or was expanding Medicare, or was bailing out big corp with TARP, or was putting all his spending through supplementarily, no liberty trees needed watering, etc. The man grew the fed gov't more than anyone before him and spent more $$$ on all of the things you guys claim to hate, but it was acceptable, if not loved. No protest. No Nazi comparisons.
Funny how the high-minded ideals re: tyranny and expansion of federal power completely depend on the little letter after the POTUS's name.

Most rational folks would admit that Bush pissed off enough Republicans to get Obama elected, no? I mean, a couple people somewhere had to cross-over.
No, what you're pointing out most of all is your own hypocrisy, brs. Obama has expanded every single thing you cite as grotesque, up to and including rendition. He's expanded the hostilities in Iraq and Afghanistan (no longer illegal wars, I suppose?). He's ballooned our national debt and deficit. He's doubled the bailouts of private financial firms and corporations. And what do we hear from you and these fine folks?
Why, nothing! Unless it's some high-minded ideal like, "nyah nyah whining losers." Or your current meme, "what about Bush?"
Wake up. Your side had actual practice in protesting. Granted, you wasted your efforts on stupid causes, but the very thing you gripe at Bush over can, and should, be applied to Obama (who is the actual, sitting President now). Apparently you only resist Big Evil Government if a Republican is in charge. Quoting you, "Funny how the high-minded ideals re: tyranny and expansion of federal power completely depend on the little letter after the POTUS's name."

Who's this "Bush" you people keep speaking of?
Posted by: Jay Guevara at August 12, 2009 10:15 AM
I agree cowlove - completely. I don't like very much of what Obama has done. Many of the Bush era over-grabs of power are being continued. And it's all contrary to what Obama said he would do, which makes him a liar. One of the ONLY things he's doing that I actually agree with is healthcare. There's no transparency as promised, there's no end to the constitutional violations. I'm pissed.
But he's not a Nazi, and neither was Bush, and calling them that is unhelpful to pointing out what needs to stop. Bush and now Obama can get away with what they do because it's alright when "our guy" does it.
And my point is this: where were you guys w/ Bush when Bush was doing the same thing? Where was the violent imagery, the Nazi slurs and "tree of liberty" (I get the codes) talk?

Fair enough.
Clearly you need to accept that you're going to see hyperbole on a site like Moonbattery.com, no? I would answer you by saying your criticism of Obama is the most stinging I've ever seen come from a liberal. Similarly, Republicans were probably not inclined to jump up and down on cars and set things on fire over anything Bush did. Rather, they went to the polls and told Republicans to piss off for essentially betraying Republican principles ("I had to abandon free market principles to save the free market.")
Now, if we can just get more on my side and more on your side to see the inherent hypocrisy of both stances, we'd be well on our way to actual, helpful dialogue. As it is, we're just screaming monkeys pretending we have a two-party system.

That was me, don't know what happened.
Posted by: cowlove at August 12, 2009 12:59 PM
I do expect hyperbole, but I'd prefer substantive discussion. And I'm not going to claim I find that on lefty but not righty sites. I was equally disgusted when Bush was drawn as Hitler everywhere I looked.
I guess I'm dismayed that hyperbole and the desire to see politics as entertainment is more important than policy. Good to see there's people who can at least recognize the difference - I'm not sure everyone can

Meh. I'd say there's a good mix of entertainment and policy discussion at this site. But, this site absolutely caters right-wingers, and makes no apologies for it. I would never venture to a site like DU and expect to be treated fairly before I was banned. But there again, that site absolutely caters to left-wingers and makes no apologies for it. I'm not telling you to leave, but if you don't want to see the hyperbole I would consider ignoring this site.
I agree with your larger point however, and I wonder what will happen when the entire country realizes we have been/are being hoodwinked by our elected leaders despite any of their party affiliations. I suspect all that "tree of liberty" stuff will come to fruition. I think currently it's easier for Republicans to be angry about it, because we're out of power and paying attention. It's easier for Democrats to ignore it, because they're in power and loving it. Just my two cents.

The North Vietnamese were about to surrender after the FAILED Tet Offensive in 1968, but the COMMIE-BACKED ANTI-WAR PROTESTERS en couraged them and the war continued for over FOUR MORE YEARS.
The same is happenin now with the present muslim war.

What? No lefties claiming the allusion to Obama being Darth Vader is racist? Even though Darth Vader was white, he wore black, and as we all know, the color black is a subliminal reminder that our President is black.
Nice discussion between BRS and Cowlove. Just goes to show that you can get substantive debate AND hyperbole at this site, which means there's something for everyone!
