Obamunists Lay Plans to Seize Control of Internet

If this site suddenly disappears from the Internet, it won't be because I've gotten tired of defending freedom, dignity, and sanity from liberalism. It will be because of something like this:

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.
They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.
The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.
"I think the redraft, while improved, remains troubling due to its vagueness," said Larry Clinton, president of the Internet Security Alliance, which counts representatives of Verizon, Verisign, Nortel, and Carnegie Mellon University on its board. "It is unclear what authority Sen. Rockefeller thinks is necessary over the private sector. Unless this is clarified, we cannot properly analyze, let alone support the bill." …
If your company is deemed "critical," a new set of regulations kick in involving who you can hire, what information you must disclose, and when the government would exercise control over your computers or network.

In case anyone naively imagines that Comrade Obama has suddenly developed an interest in combating terrorism:

In May, President Obama acknowledged that the government is "not as prepared" as it should be to respond to disruptions and announced that a new cybersecurity coordinator position would be created inside the White House staff. Three months later, that post remains empty, one top cybersecurity aide has quit, and some wags have begun to wonder why a government that receives failing marks on cybersecurity should be trusted to instruct the private sector what to do.

Never let a crisis go to waste, as head teleprompter programmer Dead Fish Emanuel likes to say. If there's no crisis, you can always create one by preventing the CIA from gathering intelligence on upcoming terror attacks that can be used as pretexts to impose martial law online.

On tips from Conan and Byron.

Watching this administation is like watching a game of JENGA. What we don't know is just what exactly the current administration has already planned that's going to make Humpty Dumpty fall

Looks like they are going to import (well qualified) willing workers to handle any cybersecurity emergency that might arise.

China's national flag to go up in White House on Sept 20By Hou Lei (chinadaily.com.cn)

The national flag of the People's Republic of China (PRC) will be hoisted at the South Lawn of the White House in Washington on September 20, media reported Sunday.
Chinese associations in the United States had applied to hold a ceremony in front of the US President’s residence to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of PRC.

Chen Ronghua, chairman of Fujian Association of the United States, told reporters that their application was approved not only because of the sound Sino-US relations but also because China is a responsible country.

"Many Americans admire China due to the success of last year’s Beijing Olympics," said Chen.

More than 1,000 people will attend the ceremony and the performances held after it, according to Zhao Luqun, who will direct the performances.

Zhao said the performances will demonstrate the friendship, magnanimous spirit and kindness of modern Chinese people.

I'm sure the Daily Kos and Huffington Post will be spared when Odumbo takes over the net OR NOT?

Wont it be hysterical when those communists fall prey to their own mesiah and get the shock of their lives. I'm sure they will just find some way to blame it on the conservitives.....

There goes paying bills online and email too...

This is how the WH and Unions will revive the dying US Postal Service.

And the Obama Civilian Army? They'll communicate by walkie-talkie, tin cans and strings, and cell phones.

R.I.P. America

I want to say "holy hell that is one psychotic and crazy conspiracy theory" but sadly, that sounds like a real possibility and something that they would do (crumble private/personal choice to prop up government dependency)...

You would think even mindless liberals would pop their heads out of the ground long enough to see the problem here.

The citizens of neither Lexington nor Concord needed the internet to smell the stench of tyranny.

Could be, without the circus that is always at our keyboard, the rest of us will wake up and smell the stench.

I hope the Obama regime realizes that the second the internet goes down, they are going to be seen as having fired the first shots in the Second American revolution

Someone just ripped off the plot of Terminator 3.

His "O"lliness has learned a valuable lesson from his buddies in Iran, don't let word of what you are doing leak out of the country on the web.

So remind me who wanted to shut down the internet after 9/11? Who wanted it controlled and censored?

Someone called Bush.

Barry's just following the first rule of taking over a country: take over the media. He's already done it with the printed media. He's going after all the TV media that questions him. Now, he's going after the internet so all we will hear is positive spin about his failing policies.
