Canadians are not flocking across the US border to get healthcare there either; there are advantages to both systems. As for waiting months/weeks, if you're sick, you can get the services you need, you may to work at it; but it's there. Saying that you have to wait in line for weeks/months is true (in part); but that's if you aren't willing to fight for your right to better service.

I am an American now living in Canada. I NEVER had a problem receiving health/medical care in America. In Canada I was referred to a specialist...then had to wait nine months for the appointment!!! In America, I was referred to the same type of specialist, and got in to see them within two days. What good is health care if you can't access it? And believe me when I tell you that Canada's health care system is not free. I cannot believe how much I pay in taxes!
