I believe John Stossel is a Libertarian.

Those people were probably paid by Dick Cheney to put down the Canadian model. I know people who know Canadians, and none of them complain about having to wait for treatment. You people are just selfish hateful racists who don't want minorities to have access to affordable health care.

In fact, "What GoW & Brandy..." let me help you out because when I was also in my early twenties I sounded exactly the same. It would have helped my personal progress to think about the following:

Your foundation of your argument is that the opposing side are "selfish hateful racists".

1. Your side would like our side to pay for your healthcare. Nobody is forcing you to pay for our healthcare. You are not volunteering to pay for our healthcare.
Yet our side is selfish.

2. We wish that other countries could provide the degree of healthcare the US provides. It is terrible that people have to leave their socialized systems and travel here for care.
Yet you characterize this as hateful. Why?

3. You state that those who support points #1 and #2 above are racists. What does race have to do with these issues, and why should it play a part in the discussion?

Just showed my 13yo the video, anticipated all the points, told him "that's what obama wants". He was floored. Especially by the veterinary care. I've had some of that this summer.

Just an aside note...

As a kid, my Mom worked for a veterinarian. I remember during the Carter years, most of my prescriptions were labelled "Barger Veterinary Clinic".

Boy, can't wait for the family doctor lottery! Good stuff. For a racist hater, John Stossel pulls off the clear, concise and honest reporter act pretty well. Destroying the most effective and innovative health care system on the planet -- great work libs!

Stossel shockingly stands out in the liberal-dominated national media because he is that rare, common sense reporter who reveals that the exception proves the rule: From GKC, "We do not need a censorship OF the press. We have a censorship BY the press."

I love John Stossel and only watch 20/20 when I know he'll be on. Read somewhere that when Stossel appears on 20/20 with a report the rating spike up. I guess that's why he is still employed there. You never see this kind of reporting on 60 minutes or any other news show. The network always makes sure to promote his reports because of his great ratings and he seldom disappoints.

All I can say to this video is, "WOOF, WOOF."

The woman who cleans my teeth was telling me last month how she had a brain tumor (!), which was successfully removed. It was not an easy surgery, and the recovery was rather slow. But she is fully recovered. Here's the rub: neither she nor her hubby had any healthcare coverage. Now she's on the hook for $35k, and bitching about it. The tumor is gone, she's normal, and she's mad. "How can I pay that kind of money?" Then she asked me "have you ever seen 'Sicko'?" I almost gagged. I finally told her that she COULD have driven to Canada and gotten free treatment there had she been willing to wait 6-9 months for it. "But then I would probably have been dead," she said. Yeah.
