It Wasn't Always a Big Deal to Threaten the President's Life
Last Wednesday, a kook in western Maryland made the media's day by getting carried away and bringing a "Death to Obama" sign to a town hall meeting. He was promptly arrested by the Secret Service. William Kostric wore a gun to a protest outside of where Comrade Obama was staging one of his phony dog and pony shows, and carried a sign reading "It's Time to Water the Tree of Liberty." Chris "Tingles" Matthews decided to interpret this as a death threat, nearly causing his own head to explode.
But there was a time when threatening the president's life was all the rage, as exhaustively documented by Zombie. A few examples:
Apparently no one was ever arrested or even questioned for threatening W's life at moonbat protests, in stark contrast to the hysterical reactions to the vaguest hint of a threat today. Zombie explains the discrepancy:
I contend that the media is aggressively reporting on, highlighting and pursuing any and all possible threats to President Obama — and even hints of threats — but they purposely glossed over, ignored or failed to report similar threats to President Bush. Why? I believe it is part of an ideological bias: most mainstream networks and newspapers tried their best during the Bush administration to portray the anti-war movement as mainstream and moderate; whereas now they are trying to portray the anti-tax and anti-health-care-bill protesters as extremists and as fringe kooks. To achieve these goals, they essentially suppressed any mentions of the violent signage (including threats to Bush) at anti-war rallies, but have highlighted anything that could even conceivably be construed as a threat at anti-Obama events.
To get an idea of how widespread threats against W were, here is Dem presidential candidate John "François" Kerry joking about bashing his head in with a rock:
Bill Maher: You could have went to New Hampshire and killed two birds with one stone.
John Kerry: Or, I could have gone to 1600 Pennsylvania and killed the real bird with one stone.
As readers will recall, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Betty Williams has also publicly fantasized about killing Bush 43.
Once again, the lesson is: anything goes, so long as you're a liberal. In contrast, conservatives are held to the highest standards. This is both a cause and an effect of the fact that liberals have no standards, whereas conservatives aspire to the highest ones.

The hypocrisy of the left is breathtaking. Recently, I encountered a Castro loving Marxist lunatic in a public chatroom who was ranting about the babies George Bush killed in Iraq. I proceeded to ask her REPEATEDLY, if she opposed abortion, since she seemed so outraged over (alleged)dead babies in Iraq. She refused to answer, because I had totally nailed her as a hysterical hypocrite.

I wonder where these people were during 9/11....

Helsing, as a liberal I actually applaud you for getting these up. Would not have minded seeing these and the recent ones side by side. I condemned them then, and do now. It is ineffective protesting, it is wrong on both sides, and I suppose trying to reason with folks who use these on both sides, is like "arguing with a dining room table".

The difference in the mind of a liberal what is human--and what is not human. They can cry for a puppy and kill an unborn baby. They can cry for a child raping, torture practicing, monster who at the awful events following being caught finds Jesus, but they would kill a President wanting to protect the country. And that is because they identify with the murdering rapist and the puppy, and they can't identify with the unborn baby (to them a piece of floating organized protein and fat) or a President who is trying to protect the country (to them a mindless idiot who wants to grab oil or is doing it for power or revenge).
That is why a thought process based only on emotion or intellect is like a stool missing a leg. If you have a spiritual, emotional, and intellectual basis for your thought patterns as guided by experience, research, and education you will make entirely different decisions.
Such a person will use puppies in research to save lives, will abhor abortion, such a person will execute murdering scum, will protect the country, and will recognize human scum when it is trying to destroy the country and speak out against such scum, and such a person will generally behave and act like a conservative.

wellstone would have a point if the ones on "our" side weren't larouche acolytes, remind me just which side of the political spectrum larouche falls on?

Bill Maher: You could have went
MORE proof that Maher is an idiot. Correct grammar for present perfect tense is "have gone"
"Went" is past tense.

Willy, Larouche tends to lean left, I will give you that. However, like Alex Jones he is a parody of himself. No matter who is in charge, he will have some conspiracy theory. I had this conversation with him in D.C. in 2005 regarding his opposition to Clinton and then Bush (now Obama). He did not like me well.

next time you refer to "both" sides and throw larouchians into the mix, please say "all three sides" or something, you present it as though he was on "our" side.

Please, this is killing me; allow me to correct the first sign. "Kill Terrorists bomb THERE house" should instead read, "Kill Terrorists bomb THEIR house". Apparently the liberal disease reduces one's ability to spell correctly.

Larouche is a Red nut job.
But at least he's not a whore.

That guy up there with the sign with the Hitler moustache on Bush is an extremely unattractive creature. Resembles alot of what you'd see on a DU picture thread.

Still further proof that liberals are diseased-ridden, pathetic, awful, sorry-ass, mentally-deficient creatures that are hatched from some sort of slimy pod-like chamber like in that science-fiction movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

Oh, those thrilling carefree days of yesteryear ...
Just a thought:
Perhaps we should not be looking at the double standard focus on POTUS ... but on the MSM.
In other words, might be more to an advantage to carry such signs with the MSM as the subject of the vile and disdain ...
Wonder how the wonks themselves would handle that?

Notice the first word in that guys T-Shirt is STUPID which is what all those moonbats are
Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at August 20, 2009 11:42 AM
And you know what else about that guy, Karin? His effigy of Bush is better dressed than he is--go figure!

Kudos to Wellstone for at least being consistent, at least in this matter
Posted by: johndoe at August 20, 2009 2:03 PM
Why does that one moonbat's sign say "Stupid WHITE motherfucker"? Why the emphasis on race? What the hell is wrong with white liberals? These people are the reason I left the Democrat party for good, and will never return.
Posted by: Right0fReagan at August 20, 2009 4:01 PM
Oh, and the one idiot who said "I'm here to kill Bush, ( shoot me)" should have been shot. I believe in granting the suicidal wishes of worthless deadbeat liberals.
Posted by: Right0fReagan at August 20, 2009 4:07 PM
Anyone notice that the same guy is in two different photos, 1 & 6. Wearing a different hat and carrying a different sign, but the same shirt in both. I don't think he washed the shirt between rallies - or perhaps never.

Notice one sign is SISSY PINK the color liberals want as our new national flag
