Deficit Graph

W was irresponsible in the extreme, but he looks downright conservative next to The One:

The difference being that Obama actually has a PLAN whereby we will pay it back and get some increased utility out of America's markets... W just wasted it all.

So... I suppose that it is insane to think that you will search out the 10-year estimates (when the healthcare gains from a healthier populace accrue, and the infrastructure investments are paid for, and increased renewable energy spending decreases dependence on foreign fuel sources, etc) and show that there is, in fact, a plan? Nah... WAY easier to just look at short-term data, ignore the 'facts', and complain about nothing. GOOD stuff.

Nothing like uninformed fearmongering to make the sheeple think they have something to complain about...

The difference being that Obama actually has a PLAN whereby we will pay it back and get some increased utility out of America's markets

... and all credibility is lost. Good to have you around, for laughs that is.

Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at August 24, 2009 11:31 AM

I see. How very profound. Are you saying W had a plan, or that O does not have a plan?

(Or are you just a whiner, who is intent on complaining regardless, because O is on "the other team"?)

Posted by: Anonymous at August 24, 2009 11:36 AM

The deficit in 10 years has been projected to be 7 trillion dollars. Oops, Barry had it wrong, and now it has risen to 9 TRILLION dollars. I don't see any plan by the asshole to pay this off.

Posted by: Stephana at August 24, 2009 11:38 AM

Actually Obama's so called "PLAN" is to destroy this country. I HOPE HE FAILS ALSO!!

Posted by: TED at August 24, 2009 11:41 AM

I think that the Red ink should be shifted over one year to include FY 2008. That was the first budget passed by the Pelosi-Reid Demonic Duo.

Remember folks, the power of the purse is granted to Congress by the Constitution and FY 2008 was the first year that Democrats controlled both houses.

Posted by: Laurence at August 24, 2009 11:42 AM

Please, enlighten me how increased spending will result in a reduced deficit.

Also, Obamadinejad has no plans of reducing our foreign fuel dependency. Apparently you didn't hear that he flushed $2B of OUR money into Brazilian oil exploration. Not only that, but the Petrobras company is rich beyond our wildest imaginations so I'd like you to explain why WE needed to give them OUR money, when they clearly had the financial resources.

Also, it is funny how we funded TWO wars, yet the deficit was dismal compared to the deficit proposed by Obamadinejad. I do find it funny that you can't read the graph pictured above. The HR3200 DeathCare bill that is slated to be passed will go into effect in 2013... notice how that's where we see a steady deficit increase?

Ignorance to the facts is no excuse to project your stupidity on us when it is clearly you who has no connection to reality and lack a simple understanding of economics.

Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at August 24, 2009 11:42 AM

And Laurence is right... 2008 is when the DemoncRATs took control of the CONgressional budgets (they do all the book-keeping, essentially). Convenient that the deficit, in that year alone, nearly tripled.

So, again, please enlighten me... or continue providing laughs. Either way, you amuse me with your idiocy.

Millions face shrinking Social Security payments

For the first time in a generation, there will be no cost of living adjustment for social security checks ... which in essence means that they will shrink in value.

Posted by: TED at August 24, 2009 12:00 PM

MORE REDUCTION IN THE DEFICIT

The Obama administration will raise its 10-year budget deficit projection to $9 trillion. It was previously projected to be $7 trillion. Your grandchildren will thank you.
Obama to raise 10-year deficit to $9 trillion

Whatever. None of you is capable of divination, and you have somehow all decided that you know the future. Will people be healthier and therefore cost less in medical bills (probably. but damned if any of you care; it is already a failure having ... not yet begun. Way to really be part of the solution, eh?)

Who was alive to remember the fight over Social Security? All this same shit was said (socialism, nazis, 'rabble! rabble! rabble!'), and yet today it is the most venerated of federal programs. Is it worth the capital expenditure to make all of those poor-ass old folks lives better?

Guess you would all say no. Funny how it is the red states where the most people who are entirely dependent on soc. sec to keep themselves alive are... and yet they are the most against additional programs to help them! (aside: who saw that jackass at the town hall screaming nonsense about death panels, get into a fight, get his ass kicked... and then complain that he had no health insurance! priceless...)

And they say the dems don't care about people?

Try, just once, following the logic of those who want things to change for the better, instead of maintaining the status quo until a crisis erupts. (I keep not getting any answer to that... where is the grand GOP plan to fix the economy, improve healthcare, and generally improve people's lives? Hint: the answer does not involve guns or bibles... but if there was some actual 'plan' I would be less likely to ignore you all as a matter of course.)

Posted by: Anonymous at August 24, 2009 12:06 PM

Dems do not care about people. They just worry about the next crisis to exploit to remain in power.
The Republicans have given you a plan, but the libtards are too stupid to even read it, I guess that is if they can read.

Posted by: Stephana at August 24, 2009 12:16 PM

There is a big difference between promoting healthier lifestyles and FORCING/LEGISLATING healthier lifestyles.

Liberals use taxation as a means to enforce change, not choice. That, in a nutshell, is their motto.

Posted by: Anonymous at August 24, 2009 12:17 PM

C'mon, guys, Barry does so have a plan. He's going to spend us rich. You know, like all those people with subprime mortgages.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at August 24, 2009 12:17 PM

If I didn't have to pay into Medicare and SS and such, then I'd be able to save and exercise personal fiscal responsibility.

Social security was a means to enact nanny-state policies because the they felt that people weren't capable of handling their own money (GUB'MINT KNOWS BETTER HOW TO SPEND YOUR MONEY THAN YOU DO). And now that system is bankrupt. Explain asshole.

Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at August 24, 2009 12:19 PM

You seem to think that we can't be against SS or Medicare because we're on them. NEWS FLASH! WE WERE FORCED TO PAY INTO THEM. If I had my CHOICE of what to do with MY money, I WOULD NOT pay into SS. Instead, I'd SAVE my money and be fiscally responsible so that, in the event of an emergency and retirement, I'd have the financial support to keep my ass afloat.

You're justifying it's existence by saying we can't complain about something we're forced into. Absolute retardation on behalf of the libtards.

Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at August 24, 2009 12:22 PM

probably. but damned if any of you care; it is already a failure having ... not yet begun. Way to really be part of the solution, eh?
Posted by: Anonymous at August 24, 2009 12:06 PM

he begins by saying we don't know the future, then tosses this out, so PROBABLY obama's plan will work if we just submit willingly, lolz, the gist of his "logic" is that every problem needs the government to intervene (ostensibly to "solve" these problems with their "plans") and all we are doing is standing in the way of our benevolent government, question: what ISN'T the government responsible for ("generally improve people's lives"

Posted by: weewilly at August 24, 2009 12:23 PM

erm, supposed to say... ("generally improve people's lives" you've got to be fucking kidding me)? holding social security up as a "success" only undermines whatever valid points you may raise(i know longshot, amidst all this "feel-good" rhetoric)

Posted by: weewilly at August 24, 2009 12:27 PM

Man, you can't make this crap up. I love leftists...

The difference being that Obama actually has a PLAN whereby we will pay it back and get some increased utility out of America's markets... W just wasted it all.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You actually believe that, Larry?

OK... what's the plan? Please give specific details. And I mean SPECIFIC DETAILS. As in, "By year X, we will have reduced the deficit to Y."

So... I suppose that it is insane to think that you will search out the 10-year estimates

Interesting choice of words... "estimates." As in, "We guess we'll be able to pay this back. And by 'guess,' we mean 'hope.' And by 'we,' we mean 'you."

But perhaps I'm being unfair to Larry. Let's see the brilliance of the People's Glorious Plan for Maximum Economic Growth and Stuff™.

(when the healthcare gains from a healthier populace accrue,

So massive increases in health care spending will DECREASE the deficit. Because we'll all be healthier or something.

Got it.

and the infrastructure investments are paid for,

Obviously, politicians ten years from now will not be putting money into infrastructure.

and increased renewable energy spending decreases dependence on foreign fuel sources,

Which renewable energy sources? How will they be implemented? What will be the requirements on the infrastructure?

etc) and show that there is, in fact, a plan?

There is no plan, dipshit. There is only spending, massive and endless.

Nah... WAY easier to just look at short-term data, ignore the 'facts', and complain about nothing. GOOD stuff.

*YOU* have yet to provide any "data."

Nothing like uninformed fearmongering to make the sheeple think they have something to complain about...

We leave the "fearmongering" to you tools and your global warming (sorry, it's "climate change" now) alarmists.

Barack Obama and the Democrats are spending money with no sign of common sense or even sanity. And idiots like you drink the Kool-Aid. This corrupt, incompetent administration tells you that the deficits will shrink, and you believe it. How? Well, that's not important. He gives you vague platitudes about saving money on health care and alternative energy and you swallow it without even a moment's critical thinking. Obama said it, you believe it, that settles it.

Don't accuse us of being "sheeple," sheep.

Posted by: Evil Otto at August 24, 2009 12:30 PM

...but if there was some actual 'plan' I would be less likely to ignore you all as a matter of course.

Oh please, child, you couldn't ignore us unless someone paid you to.

And why are you so arrogant that you assume we should be coming up with plans to affect your goals. Here's a clue, just for you: we want you to fail. We don't want to help you think of new, cool ways to expand the government and balloon our deficit. We don't want to help you think of nifty ways to infringe on our rights and shred the Constitution. Sorry, you have to play with yourself on this one.

But please, continue to blame the party with zero power for your own pathetic failures. Your tears are sweet, sweet nectar for my soul.

Posted by: cowlove at August 24, 2009 12:33 PM

"and increased renewable energy spending decreases dependence on foreign fuel sources". Increased spending is going to save money? I'll bet your economics instructors are so proud.
Michigan State University did a study on wind power for just the state of Michigan. To replace coal-fired plants for energy will require 11,000 windmills!! And I'm sure the sites will run into the same problems they ran into in Mass., NY, and Conn. NIMBY!!! Let the unwashed get their power from somewhere else, I don't want my view ruined.
So, multiply 11,000 by 49, and get back to us. That's even if every state has the same winds, which they don't. And wind power has worked so well for California, right?

Posted by: UpNorth at August 24, 2009 1:06 PM

Whatever. None of you is capable of divination, and you have somehow all decided that you know the future.

This from someone who, just a few minutes ago was telling us that this money would be payed back.

Yes, we know the future, drone. It's called READING HISTORY. It's called STUDYING ECONOMICS. This sort of idiotic spending has always had one end result: economic collapse.

Will people be healthier and therefore cost less in medical bills (probably. but damned if any of you care; it is already a failure having ... not yet begun. Way to really be part of the solution, eh?)

People will be healthier? How? Again, be specific.

Here's your first economic lesson, drone: Healthier people live longer. Living longer means they put a greater long-term strain on the health care system as well as draw other government benefits (Social Security, etc.) for a greater time. If more people are part of government health care systems, this means that the costs will increase.

Who was alive to remember the fight over Social Security? All this same shit was said (socialism, nazis, 'rabble! rabble! rabble!'), and yet today it is the most venerated of federal programs.

You absolute, utter frikkin' moron. Social Security is in danger of collapse.

I'm speechless at your sheer stupidity.

Is it worth the capital expenditure to make all of those poor-ass old folks lives better?

You were telling us how all of this was magically going to be paid back. Try and keep on subject, drone.

Guess you would all say no. Funny how it is the red states where the most people who are entirely dependent on soc. sec to keep themselves alive are... and yet they are the most against
additional programs to help them!

Most people who are elderly are not "entirely dependent on Social Security." And I'd like to see your data on whether red or blue states have more people on SS. You DO have that info, right? I'll wait while you desperately Google up something to back up your claims.

Understand, you simpering little leftist tool, that creating a program doesn't magically mean it is sustainable. SS, Medicare, Medicaid, all are on the verge of COLLAPSE. And when they do, they will take our economy down with them. Rather than try and reform them to prevent that, Obama and the Democrats are instead trying to take control of health care. AND YOU BELIEVE THIS WILL WORK OUT?!?

(aside: who saw that jackass at the town hall screaming nonsense about death panels, get into a fight, get his ass kicked... and then complain that he had no health insurance! priceless...)

You mean the man who was beat up by union thugs? That "jackass?" Funny that you leftists aren't against violence when it's your side inflicting it.

And they say the dems don't care about people?

Yes. Democrats don't care about people. They care about GROUPS, and only those groups that can help them attain power and keep it. Individuals don't matter to them at all.

Try, just once, following the logic

What logic?

of those who want things to change for the better,

You leftists should tattoo the words "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" backwards on your foreheads so you can be reminded of that wisdom every time you look in a mirror. You want to make things better, but over and over again you make things worse. And you never take responsibility when the shit hits the fan.

instead of maintaining the status quo until a crisis erupts.

That's rich, coming from an uninformed, economically-illiterate drone like you. Wanna talk about Social Security again? You can dazzle us with your brilliance.

(I keep not getting any answer to that... where is the grand GOP plan to fix the economy,

Here's a great plan: GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY. Stop trying to "fix" things. Let the people do their business as free as is possible from interference. Stop trying to make things better, because you idiots don't know what you're doing.

improve healthcare,

I'd start with tort reform, and let people buy insurance across state lines. I'd phase out as much of government interference in the health care market as was possible, and let the free market do what it does. But I have no fantasies that health care will suddenly become cheap. Health care is EXPENSIVE. Good health care is MORE EXPENSIVE. Whether you're paying for it or the government is, that is an immutable law of nature.

and generally improve people's lives?

It's not our job to "improve people's lives," not is it the government's. The government has specifically-spelled-out powers defined in the Constitution. That's it.

Hint: the answer does not involve guns or bibles...

It wouldn't be a leftist screed with a reference to guns and Bibles. You're not arguing with us, drone, you're arguing with your cartoon version of us. You don't even know what we believe or why we believe it. And that is why you can't argue.

but if there was some actual 'plan' I would be less likely to ignore you all as a matter of course.)

You're going to ignore us anyway, because you're incapable of rational thought. It doesn't matter.

Obamacare is going to be defeated. Obama is going to lose in 2012, and you idiots are going to lose quite a few seats in 2010. And it's your own fault. You've attempted to push the American people much too far, and now we're pushing back.

And you? You'll just keep swallowing the Kool-Aid and asking for more.

Posted by: Evil Otto at August 24, 2009 1:08 PM

The difference being that Obama actually has a PLAN

Would that be like the plan he had for passing ObamaCare legislation? 'Cause the Dems look like they're staging a Chinese fire drill right now.

But to quote that great movie Stripes, "Custer had a plan too."

Posted by: Jay Guevara at August 24, 2009 1:14 PM

This little anonymous twit is a perfect example of the "Underpants Gnomes" philosophy of government favored by the Democrats.

Step 1: Spend massive amounts of taxpayer money on "health care reform."
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Everyone will be healthier.

Step 1: Everyone will be healthier.
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Budget deficits will decrease.

Virtually every idea they come up with is a variation of this. They never have real solutions, just good intentions and a bottomless pool of taxpayer money to throw at a problem. And that's not even counting the ones who are just corrupt like... well, everyone in this administration. For them, the plan looks like this:

Step 1: Funnel massive amounts of taxpayer money to your cronies.
Step 2: ????
Step 3: ????

The difference being that Obama actually has a PLAN

But Mousie(Libtard), thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!

Posted by: weewilly at August 24, 2009 1:29 PM

Evil Otto... I've been saying that all along.

Every DemoncRAT policy resembles that of the underpants gnomes. They believe that, in all cases, government intervention towards an end, justifies the means.

... and yet these asshats are so incredibly oblivious to the means by which they will enact the change... they'll be first under the bus (hopefully).

Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at August 24, 2009 1:33 PM

Note, too, that according to Obama's own estimation of unemployement with and without his masturbatory stimulus bill, he's already failed.

And the CBO's deficit estimations? They're based on some sort of measurable recovery occurring next year. It's something in the area of 2% - 2.5% annual GDP growth. So, if we're not there by that time, and we're still running interest on debt expenses in the realm of $400 billion per year, you're going to see some interesting things happening with those graphs. Interesting meaning, in this case, "Wow, that guy just plowed face first into that wall at 278 MPH. How interesting."

It's funny because it's true! There are numbers and everything!

Posted by: cowlove at August 24, 2009 1:52 PM

Well, that was fun! Additionally, a government takeover of healthcare presumes healthcare to be a right. But it's not. Oh, I know the UN says it is, but I haven't sworn to protect the various declarations of the UN, just the Constitution.

Healthcare is a service, utilizing many supplies and machines which are the property of people, as well as very specialized skills. How can you have a right to something that's someone else's? To their time, efforts and property? You declare that a right and you're nowhere from declaring anyone's property fair game.

Oh and we've issued or are scheduled to issue half a trillion dollars in Treasuries in the past month! And the Fed has bought roughly half of those notes and bonds right back from the Primary Dealers! Bernanke calls this 'Quantatative Easing.' I call it, 'printing money.' The Chinese call it, 'OMG WTF???!!!'

And right now, we're only at 260MPH and we're a good 175 feet from that wall. Plenty of time to kill!
