Cuba Runs Out of Toilet Paper

Posted by Dave Blount at August 10, 2009 8:18 AM

No wonder liberals want to reconstruct our economy using Cuba as a model. No one is going to oppress the polar bears by using too much toilet paper under the Castro Bros.

Cuba, in the grip of a serious economic crisis, is running short of toilet paper and may not get sufficient supplies until the end of the year, officials with state-run companies said on Friday.

Not to worry, bureauweenies have the situation in hand:

"The corporation has taken all the steps so that at the end of the year there will be an important importation of toilet paper," an official with state conglomerate Cimex said on state-run Radio Rebelde.

If they're anything like American communists, they won't mind going half a year without wiping.

Fortunately socialism provides everyone with the real essentials:

Cubans receive a subsidized food ration from the government each month that they say meets their needs for about two weeks.

The communist regime is so desperate to raise production that it has been putting state land back into private hands. Yet America's rulers are pushing full steam ahead in the opposite direction, most recently by trying to impose Cuban-style healthcare.

At least we'll never have Cuba's toilet paper problem, not with the hyperinflation that will inevitably result from Obamanomics. We can just use currency.

On a tip from Tony.
