Brazilians Instructed to Pee in the Shower

Posted by Dave Blount at August 5, 2009 9:31 AM

Among the many bizarre notions dear to envirokooks is the belief that water you use in the bathroom disappears forever after it goes down the drain, so that conserving water, even if you live in a swampy place like Brazil, is a matter of saving the planet.

New TV ads are encouraging Brazilians to save water — by urinating in the shower.
Brazilian environmental group SOS Mata Atlantica says the campaign, running on several television stations, uses humour to persuade people to reduce flushes.
The group says if a household avoids one flush a day, it can save up to 4,380 litres (1,157 gallons) of water annually. … Narrated by children's voices, the ad ends with: "Pee in the shower! Save the Atlantic rainforest!"

Brazilian parents have their work cut out for them, trying to potty-train the kids with this stuff on TV.
