Police Dismayed by Obama's Race-Baiting

It may be disgraceful and absurd that the President of the United States would make a point of publicly siding with professional racist Henry Louis Gates Jr., who deliberately got himself arrested by badgering cops, but it is entirely consistent with the race-obsessed, ultra-left milieu that produced our Community Organizer in Chief. However, that doesn't mean the police have to like it:

Many police officers across the country have a message for President Barack Obama: Get all the facts before criticizing one of our own. Obama's public criticism that Cambridge officers "acted stupidly" when they arrested black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. could make it harder for police to work with people of color, some officers said Thursday.
It could even set back the progress in race relations that helped Obama become the nation's first African-American president, they said.
"What we don't need is public safety officials across the country second-guessing themselves," said David Holway, president of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, which represents 15,000 public safety officials around the country. "The president's alienated public safety officers across the country with his comments."

Even while admitting that he didn't know what happened, Obama denounced the police as racist for asking a suspected burglar to show his ID despite his politically sacred skin color. This is particularly rich considering not only that Gates is a highly paid professional bigot, but that Obama himself made his hatred of Caucasians a matter of public record in Dreams of My Father. Chairman Zero won't stand up for America when facing foreign dictators, but he does stand by his disgraceful comments.

You can't blame cops for not being terribly fond of Barack O'Bigot. But that's okay, because soon he will have his own personal law enforcement spread throughout the country, according to Dr. Laurie Roth:

Just this week I was talking to a high level contact who had just talked with a member of the Homeland Security Dept. They revealed to him that Obama is planning to nationalize every security force that currently guards any military structure and all 800,000 Government buildings. Currently these buildings and facilities have been guarded by private security companies … not when Obama is through. This will immediately put thousands of security companies and hundreds of thousands of workers out of business.
Hundreds of thousands more jobs of private security companies will be gone but even more chilling, Obama will have a national police force, peppered through out the country, in every city where there are any Government buildings or military sites of any kind. The question every American, liberal, conservative, black or white should be asking is WHY does Obama plan to have a national police and security force?

The answer: as the tragicomedy of this Marxist punk's presidency comes unraveled, law enforcement will be called upon to enforce orders that would make normal cops balk. You can't say Comrade Obama didn't warn us in advance.

obama fascist
Chairman Zero doesn't need normal cops. He'll lead his own.

"Staff for Mayor Luke Ravenstahl have chained the office door to prevent union protesters demanding jobs from entering.

The service-sector unions say about 100 members participated in this morning's protest. They say they want Mr. Ravenstahl to address the fact that mostly low-wage jobs have been created by new developments subsidized by taxpayer money. They say these jobs keep families poor.

Officials in Mr. Ravenstahl's office did not immediately return phone calls or comment on the situation.

The protesters say they plan to remain outside the office until he addresses their concerns."

So, what, he's going to put everyone from the private security companies out and replace them with what, his own people? So we'll have his own people in sufficient numbers to guard these buildings, or in excess, so they can come out in public and harass us? WTF is going on here?

Awww, you guys found your new Joe the Plumber in Crowley, except James Crowley is actually his name and he is actually a cop. Anyone is going to be set off in Gates position. The arrest was shaky on any legal grounds to begin with. It is not disorderly conduct if you are in your own home, and it requires a civilian complaint. Further, under Cambridge law, you cannot be arrested in your home for disorderly conduct, which would explain why Crowley asked him to step outside and calm down. I was once stopped by the police for breaking into my own home, but they did not arrest me as I didn't act like an ass. We laughed it off, and they said "don't lock the keys in the house". So close, yet so far.

There is hope in the knowledge that all dictatorships end in similar results for the dictator. It will take some time to get through the hardness which is likely approaching for America, but right is might, and will prevail in the end. It is a good lesson for us to have for the future of America that we must be ever vigilant to answer the call of the smoking deciet that is fascism/liberalism/socialism and quickly put out the fire before it spreads to the proportions it has with the mulatto mendacity.

Posted by: Eric at July 24, 2009 10:02 AM

I'm still struck by the fact that even our own little resident asshat can manage to string together far fairer and more thoughtful comments on the matter than the effing POTUS, even after several revisions. It's just so damn sad.

Posted by: cowlove at July 24, 2009 10:10 AM

Why thx, Cowlove :)
Don't worry, I have been on the wrong side of the cell before, so you can have your little dream. We have to look realistically at all of this. Gates had some grounds for his anger, as did Crowley. The President should have left it alone, and took my cue that both men behaved "stupidly". That said, it is the reaction to all of this that says we have so much more work to do on race in America. From Fox, to MSNBC, and CNN have made this worse than it needs to be.

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 10:41 AM

How about you just admit Obama should have shut his damn mouth about something he admittedly knew nothing about? It's one thing for you to have an opinion; you're nobody. It's another thing entirely when the President of the United States of America gets on national television and calls a police officer's behavior stupid right after admitting he didn't have all the facts. If that right there isn't "behaving stupidly" then nothing is.

This uproar would never have happened if Obama hadn't brought it up, period.

And seriously, Obama "took your cue?" I don't think that means what you think it means, unless you really are as pompous as you seem.

Posted by: cowlove at July 24, 2009 10:48 AM

Oh, and earlier, when I said, "so close, yet so far," that wasn't a fantasy about you being in jail. It was in reference to you being so close to understanding the root of the problem, yet so far from actually getting it. Evidence your latest comment.

Posted by: cowlove at July 24, 2009 10:51 AM

Cowlove, my statement read "The President should have left it alone, and took my cue that both men behaved "stupidly" This story was already getting traction before he spoke, poorly I will add. It is not uncommon for a friend to speak in defense of a friend. Maybe I should amend my comment, all three men behaved "stupidly". We have so much work left to do. I saw a clip last night of Beck and Horowitz discussing this and both Beck's camera and sound guys (both black) had enough of Horowitz and spoke up. For a change, I applauded Beck for letting them speak. You guys like to say the left encourages this behavior, and maybe it is fueled by both sides? Dumping on someone, pretending the issue doesn't exist is bad, exploiting them is equally as bad. Recognizing the problem is an issue both sides need to come to terms with.

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 10:57 AM

I'm sorry, could you show me a clip of Obama denouncing the cop as racist for asking Gates to show his ID?

I must have had a seizure during the press conference, because I didn't hear anything even remotely similar to that come out of Obama's mouth.

Posted by: CP at July 24, 2009 10:58 AM

Oh, I see my error. I would have understood properly had you correctly said, "...should have taken my cue..." Not being a grammar cop.

For my part, speaking as a nobody, a black man screaming that he is being arrested simply because he's black is the only party exasperating race relations in America. Any other judgment is attempting to delve into the mentality of the arresting officer based on absolutely no evidence. Perhaps the two other black officers on the scene would have something to say if they thought their fellow brother-in-blue was committing a racist act, no?

You ultra-sensitive clowns on the left are the only problem with race relations in America. Maybe one day you'll learn to judge men by the content of the character instead of the color of their skin. The rest of us are still waiting.

Posted by: cowlove at July 24, 2009 11:06 AM

Cowlove, I will clarify. In 2005 I was arrested for "disturbing the peace" for handing out pamphlets on "peace". I justifiably found it absurd, and let it be known. After 2 hours in a holding cell I was released w/o any charges. My point being,I found the charge unfounded and ridiculous, which is likely what Gates felt at his home. His calls of "racism" are purely based on a level of history in his lifetime, and that has to be recognized.

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 11:09 AM

You may find this surprising, but I really don't care.

I also don't care about Gates' history. If officers had to stop and consider what every random asshole's history might be before doing their job, they couldn't do their job.

And again, we never would have known about this if Obama hadn't brought it up and made idiotic comments about it. But of course, I want him to fail, so it's kind of nice to see him making an ass of himself on national television.

Posted by: Farmer Ted at July 24, 2009 11:59 AM

Kyle, you don't have your facts straight. According to the Police report, Gates spent an extended period of time attributing the worst possible racial motives to Crowley just because Crowley was doing his job. Furthermore, Crowley was NOT arrested in his home, he was arrested outside his home when Crowley asked him to come out of the house because he was having a hard time hearing his radio because of Gates ranting and the acoustics in the house. Gates response to Crowley's request involved a derogatory statement toward Crowley's mother. None of this would have happened if Gates had been reasonable about helping Crowley establish his identity as the owner of the property. Crowley is well liked by his fellow officers both black and white, he is no racist, and the fact that Gates assumed he was says more about Gates' racism than it does about Crowley's.

Posted by: Judith M. at July 24, 2009 12:09 PM

White guilt policies are to blame for all this. Plus, we allow blacks to pull the race card for any and everything. They don't have any other argument because, in their mind, they are UNABLE to be wrong so it MUST be racism.

Absolute stupidity.

It was mentioned in another comment... police officers should ask the ethnicity of those involved and act accordingly. Ignore them if they're a different ethnicity. Then we'll see who the real trouble makers are by letting them police themselves. Hello Detroit (hellhole).

Posted by: Sammy Zoso at July 24, 2009 12:14 PM

This is word for word what Obama said. Still see absolutely no evidence that "Obama denounced the police as racist for asking a suspected burglar to show his ID," as you state here. Not even close. You're extrapolating a hell of a lot by making that claim from what the president actually said.

"Now, I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that, but I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge Police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there is a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact.

"As you know, Lynn, when I was in the state legislature in Illinois, we worked on a racial profiling bill because there was indisputable evidence that blacks and Hispanics were being stopped disproportionately. And that is a sign, an example of how, you know, race remains a factor in this society. That doesn't lessen the incredible progress that has been made. I am standing here as testimony to the progress that's been made.

"And yet the fact of the matter is, is that this still haunts us. And even when there are honest misunderstandings, the fact that blacks and Hispanics are picked up more frequently and oftentime for no cause casts suspicion even when there is good cause. And that's why I think the more that we're working with local law enforcement to improve policing techniques so that we're eliminating potential bias, the safer everybody is going to be."

Posted by: CP at July 24, 2009 12:18 PM

Sammy, you address the issue with such class..asshole

Judith, I have read the report, and the Cambridge penal code. I admit, Gates behaved like an ass. Yet under Cambridge laws it was a bad arrest on Gates' property. "Disorderly conduct cannot result in an arrest on ones property without a civilian complaint". There was no civilian complaint on the charge. Crowley knows better. I applaud his bravery on the job he does everyday. Ignoring the historic profiling, that he himself teaches is foolish.

American to the Core, I live in Detroit, so watch it...:)

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 12:26 PM

Obama would have been just fine if all he said was

"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that."

Too bad he rambled for three, full paragraphs.

Posted by: Judith M. at July 24, 2009 12:27 PM

The civilian "complaint" was inferred by the officer based on the clear distress of the onlookers (which is detailed in the report) and who I'm sure would have been reluctant to say out loud at that point that Gates was freaking them out (given that he was in the throes of acting like a race-baiting maniac).

Posted by: Judith M. at July 24, 2009 12:32 PM

Judith, I agree. Jon Stewart nailed it on Obama answering the question with a slow motion "Noooo!" Crowley is an officer of the law who addresses "civilian complaints", no threat was made to him, and he was in no danger from a man who is handicapped, and stands 5'4". The bigger argument here is, what Cambridge law states, how asinine Gates actions were, and how Crowley handled it. The reality is we still have racial profiling in America, we still have the "race card" pulled at leisure, and we still see idiots like Sammy that solidify the argument. You and I are not far off on this.

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 12:43 PM

This is where I have a problem, Kyle. I'm sure there is racial profiling, but is a cop guilty of racial profiling when he is responding to a citizen call of a suspected break-in involving two black men? The cop isn't looking for black men because he thinks they are more likely to commit a crime, he's looking for black men because the call described two black men apparently breaking into a house. I see no reason to believe racism played any role in Crowley's actions, but I see every reason to believe it was the sole reason for Gates' actions.

Posted by: Judith M. at July 24, 2009 12:56 PM

To sum it up, both Gates and BO are 'race baiters' who did not look who they were accusing before they opened their mouths.

The expected that they were accusing a below par policeman who would 'hopefully' have a bunch of racist related 'complaints' filed against him in the past. They assumed and it failed.

Instead they ended up accusing a guy who the Police Chief (also black) personally counts on for teaching young policemen/women not to be racist. And, apparently, he is good at it.

Sucks to be Gates and BO right now. Spin, spin and spin. BO was really dumb to dig this hole for the media to jump into with him.

Posted by: Oiao at July 24, 2009 1:26 PM

Judith, I see your point. However, it is not without surprise that a black man, who lives there would see it that way. There is an argument to be made from both sides. The hub-bub spells out that we have alot to learn, and alot to expect. I said earlier, the right claims the left promote this, and the left calls the right racists, it's neverending. Unfortunately, the profiling bs is not. We all would love to get to a point beyond this, but we are not there yet. Arizonan talk host Jeff Farias experienced a situation where a man, pulled over while Mexican, fled the vehicle and wound up in his home with a gun and crack pipe. However, the actions taken by police were not uncommon. Do we continue to profile our fellow citizens? Do we continue to follow a "racist" action based on fear? I am willing to recognize the history our country has, but is law enforcement ready to disarm on it? This is a cause that both liberals and conservatives should get behind. No more hiding behind this nonsense.

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 1:29 PM

You are turning this into something it isn't without realizing the reality of it Oiao. This is real, this is not some race baiting conclusion. I have not taken the time to look at Gates record, but has this happened before in the 60's, 70's? Historically we need to, as whites ask this question. It is done on a regular basis throughout the country.

Posted by: Kyle at July 24, 2009 1:36 PM

Kyle,

You are applying generalizations that do not relate to this specific incident, except that Gates is an Al Sharpton like Race Baiter (its what he teaches at Harvard, no?) He makes money by ensuring that the preception of white racism exists in every situation he deals with.

Look up more info on him and you will see that Gates has a big unfounded chip on his sholder. He uses it to make his $$$$$$$income.

You are totally off the mark if you want to apply broad social theories to an event that was created by a self-important, over opinionated minority (and a minority Politician) who thought that he could just throw out the race card against a white officer (and apparently drag the officer's mother into the discussion) and get away with it without backlash.

Gates and BO were counting on 'their view of racism' to justify their incorrect actions and words and got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

You are making the same mistake in this specific issue.

Posted by: Oiao at July 24, 2009 2:16 PM

Kyle,

Here is a Video for you of a black officer who supports Gates arrest.

I'm assuming you will be making excuses for this police officer's opinion since it does not fit your view of the situation.

Posted by: Oiao at July 24, 2009 2:26 PM

I was once stopped by the police for breaking into my own home, but they did not arrest me as I didn't act like an ass.

You're making up for it now, because you've completely missed the point. To reiterate, the point was that the Nubian Narcissist had no business running his yap on this issue when he admitted he didn't know what he was talking about.

Try to keep up, OK?

However, it is not without surprise that a black man, who lives there would see it that way. There is an argument to be made from both sides.

No, there isn't. I don't give a shit how a black man sees it, so do not indulge in this moral equivalence and PC sensitivity crap. You don't mouth off to a police officer. If you do, you may be arrested. Surely this nitwit who's built his career in grievance studies would know that.

And while we're at it, let's look at how a cop sees it. A cop spends his career dealing with the garbage of society, and a lot of that garbage is black and abusive toward cops. Even black cops often develop a short fuse in dealing with blacks, because they get so much crap – like this – from them.)

And profiling is just good police work. Blacks get stopped more because they're more likely to be involved in crimes. Strike you as a racist statement? Tough. It's true. Men get stopped more than women they're more likely to be involved in crimes. Strike you as a sexist statement? Tough. It's true too. The young get stopped more because they're more likely to be involved in crimes. Strike you as a ageist statement? Tough. It's also true.

Imagine you were a cop responding to a liquor store robbery and saw two cars pulling away: one has several blue-haired grannies, and the other several black teenagers. Which would you stop, and why? Racist!

Posted by: Jay Guevara at July 24, 2009 2:34 PM

Whenever someone is clearly in the wrong, defenders look for something else to excuse by way of balance. The British press did that for centuries with Irish Republicanism. This deceitful bit of crap is called 'moral equivalence' There is no moral equivalence here. And lay off the bullshit, kyle, you were smoked out in your first effort.

Today the Cambridge Police union held a newser where, the black officer, seen in the foreground of the now infamous picture of Gates in cuffs, stated he supported Sgt Crowley 100%. He stated that only when Gates called Crowley a racist did the arrest take place.

If there's ever going to be a reduction of racism in the US, blacks have to stop playing the race card every time someone looks at them the wrong way, criticizes them or in any way disagrees. The incident was almost over until Gates yelled "racist". If I were Crowley, I've have done the same thing.

BO, speaking about the Gates garabage, said that "..these are issues that are still very sensitive in America."

Let's see: the 'issues' are blacks and cops, and it certainly appears to be an 'issue' for BO.
However, had BO stopped for a minute to remember that squawking police racism is a way to get and maintain black votes and is not reality, he wouldn't have the Gates garabage in his lap.

Gates is a celebrity in academic and intellectual circles, and so has a right to trash anyone who actually works more than 3-6 hours a week. I caught a clip of Skippy blathering on about Sgt. Crowley's "narrative" and wondered if the good prof. realized he was being heard by adults, and not just the gullible little snots whose parents pay big bucks to have their spawn indoctrinated by his vile racist spew. If Gates had spent a little less time "deconstructing narratives" and a little more time listening to Sgt. Crowley "narrate" his name an shield #, perhaps he wouldn't have gone mental.

How many generations will it take to undo the damage that has been effected in college classrooms for the lat 40 years?

Gates has a chip on his shoulder and hates whitey.

He lives in an academia bubble and he thinks he's better than most of us, black or white.

Common sense would have said, show the officer your ID, explain why you were breaking in (left the key inside) then kept your mouth shut and nothing would have happened.

But OH NO race baiters like this idiot had to make a big deal out of it. I really hope there is a video to out this asshole.

Since Andy seems to be to scared of me to say anything let's exame some of Ghost of Welstone or Kyle's lunacy

Awww, you guys found your new Joe the Plumber in Crowley, except James Crowley is actually his name and he is actually a cop.

Nice condesention, very weak stab at the police doing their job, and a a nice insult to the guy who exposed Odumbo as a marxist. I guess the comunists like Kyle are still upset about an ordinary citizen outwitting their mesiah...

Anyone is going to be set off in Gates position.

Not really. The only people that would be upset about the police doing their job tend to be race trading morons like Gates or criminals.

The arrest was shaky on any legal grounds to begin with.

You just wish it was, except the reality of the situation and the facts of the incident prove otherwise. Is it painful to always be so clueless?

It is not disorderly conduct if you are in your own home, and it requires a civilian complaint.

Have you ever heard of a "domestic dispute" arrest? Gee wiz Kyle your knowledge of law is even lower than your poor grasp on reality.

Further, under Cambridge law, you cannot be arrested in your home for disorderly conduct, which would explain why Crowley asked him to step outside and calm down.

Looks like you just got trapped by your own ignorance again. Why would Gates need to calm down unless he actually was being disorderly Kyle?

I was once stopped by the police for breaking into my own home, but they did not arrest me as I didn't act like an ass.

That's the key phrase clueless one; Police quite often will be more leinient when the person they happen to be dealing with is polite. Funny how that works, Kindnes begets kindnes?

We laughed it off, and they said "don't lock the keys in the house".

If Gates hadn't been such an idiot THAT would have happened with him also. That's not what Gates wanted, HE wanted to make it an issue because he knows Obama and figured that gave him some special power.

That said, if I were questioned and pressed, I may have had a different reaction.

I doub't that VERY seriously.

Did it happen that way cause I am white?

NO, it happened that way because you didn't act like a jerk and piss off the police. It's trully sad you can't figure that out on your own but you communists tend to not be very bright to begin with.

You have to have compassion for both Gates and the officer.

Now THAT"S funny! Have "compassion" for the race baiting moronic idiot who created the problem by his own actions? Cried about it when he got punished for HIS actions? Tried to get the moron in cheif to stick up for him when it was obviously his fault? Considering you've already insulted the officer erlier I'm not really seening your "compassion" for Crowley.

Gates, because of his age and race he has lived a life you or I have no clue about,

That sure sounds like the "wise latina" excuse there. Here's a clue Kyle, EVERYBODY has different life experiance that nobody else can understand.

as for Crowley, his job puts him in harms way on a daily basis. It is fair to say, that both men behaved "stupidly".

Knowing Crowley is in possibly life threatening circumstances every day perhaps several times during the course of his duty gives Gates the freedom to treat him like dirt? It gives Odumbo the priveledge of making a mockery of a distiguished policman? It allows you to arbitrarily decide who is actually gulty without really knowing what happened? Didn't you just yammer on about... What's that word.... COMPASSION!! Oh that's right you said that AFTER you insulted Crowley!

Don't worry, I have been on the wrong side of the cell before, so you can have your little dream.

Sweetie it's not our dream it our preference for ALL of you comunist's!

We have to look realistically at all of this.

Well you've proven sofar you are completely unable to do that... Being "realistic" is something liberals are totally oposed to so why even bring it up?

Gates had some grounds for his anger, as did Crowley.

Crowley isn't the one out there cying for sypathy, throwing the race card around, and moaning to his "friend" Odumbo about his plight. Gates is only angry because he is a loser!!

The President should have left it alone, and took my cue that both men behaved "stupidly".

The ONLY people acting stupidly are Odumbo, Gates, and YOU! For the moron in chief to even comment on this, which was pre planned, was the height of stupidity.

That said, it is the reaction to all of this that says we have so much more work to do on race in America.

Morgan Freeman said it best... "Stop talking about it" Bill Cosby was lambasted for trying to get the black community to grow up and get over it. Besides if liberals like you had to give up race hustling you would be even more deranged than when you had to give up crying about Bush!!

From Fox, to MSNBC, and CNN have made this worse than it needs to be.

Odumbo and his idiot friend Gates MADE this what it is, not the networks.

In 2005 I was arrested for "disturbing the peace" for handing out pamphlets on "peace".

Based on the vile behavior I've seen at "peace" rallys I'm not very suprised by this. With the amount of violence, property damage and idiocy that goes on at the those things you probably deserved more that just being arrested.

I justifiably found it absurd, and let it be known.

So you mouthed off to the police, were an ass, and showed brazen contempt and disrespect to the police for just doing their job.... That right there really say's it all. Oddly enough most criminals get offended and upset when the police show up. Strangely enough they also feel somehow "justified" in commtting their crimes too.

After 2 hours in a holding cell I was released w/o any charges.

So even though you acted like a total jerk, the cops still let you go without punishment and you couldn't help yourself erlier when you insulted them. It's no wonder you're so clueless!

My point being,I found the charge unfounded and ridiculous, which is likely what Gates felt at his home.

I'm sure Ken Lay, and Berrnie Maddoff felt just like you did.... Laws are such a pain to follow. That must be why so many comunists like you hate the constitution so much.

His calls of "racism" are purely based on a level of history in his lifetime, and that has to be recognized.

His whining needs to be condemed for what it is. Gates is a bitter, selfserving, creep who has spent his life blaming everyone for the problems he created. Rather than feel lucky he lives in a wonderful country that has given him the opportunity to be a proffessor, lift himself up to wealth, and have dedicated people willing to carry a badge to protect him. Instead he blames his troubles on someone else.
