All hate crime legislation is inherently unconstitutional because it denies everyone equal protection under the law.

Assault is a crime regardless of the races of the people involved; only true racists, such as Ghost of Common Sense, need to know the races of the dramatis personae to know whether to support the victim or the attacker, and whether or not the assault was a hate crime. Assault itself is a crime - that's enough.

This kind of disgusting violence is due in part to the heavy investment in the the formation and perpetuation of a black subculture by whites in this country.
The consequence is, that now many blacks cannot fully appreciate the reasons for the world in which they live and characterize themselves simply through racism.

I'm really concerned for the future of this country.

I live in the South, and I've seen the discrimination that blacks had to endure when I was a child. It was terrible. We righted that wrong, and most of us have done our best to look forward to a better day when (in the words of MLK) whites and blacks could hold hands and judge each other by character instead of the color of our skin.

As time goes on, I'm feeling more and more that white people are getting pushed to the back of the bus. We aren't even allowed to express our opinions freely, lest we be called "racist" by some latte drinking northeastern limousine driving liberal.

Dorita, I realize the Democrat Underground Message Board (a.k.a. DUMB) is passing around the "fireworks on June 27th - WTF?" talking point, but as a look at this Ohio events website shows, many communities do have their fireworks shows a week early, so they don't have to compete with events in larger towns. And at least one community in the Akron, OH area was celebrating on the 27th of June.

I emailed Lt Rick Edwards, and reminded him directly, of what a hate crime looks like, quoting the article of course.

He has acknowledged receipt.

If he is still unsure whether to charge these thugs with a hate crime, he may then need more numerous reminders.

Smaller towns do them on days other than the 4th to save money. They get steep discounts for doing it the weekend before or after. Locally, it was planned for July 3rd - but the field where it was be held was filled with mud after flash flood - now its Labor Day Fireworks!

My view is that we need to dramatically constrict the country's investment in race:
we should repeal laws to promote racial coddling, have absolutely no race-based federally-supported programs and advocate free-market capitalism as a value that every citizen recognizes as imperative.
I was not addressing self-defense per se and disagree with your implication that it is currently necessary to prepare for a race war.

My (German-American) aunt is married to a Czech-American and they are considered a "white" couple here, but if they lived near the German-Czech border, they would be considered a mixed marriage, and their kids (my cousins) would be called half-breeds.

What's sad is that these young blacks don't realize that there really was a time, not so long ago, when they would have literally been strung up from the nearest tree for even crashing the guy's party, much less attacking him.

I went to the Akron Police web site and reported this Hate Crime in their Anonymous Tips section in case they needed help on the investigation and left my contact info.... I can't wait for the call back.

I can't believe the police are taking time figuring things out. The thing about race crimes is you have to consider that it is a form of terrorism intended to terrify people beyond the additional target. You can't just say its a regular attack when the entire victimized group feels they have been specifically targetted.

When I was in middle school in the 80s, a black girl walked up behind me and kick me so that I fell down because of a bad call on the volleyball court by the teacher. He friends watched and cackled. When I went to report it I was told in no uncertain term s to SHUT UP. Nothing was done to her.

If you look at CNN today you will see the top story of alleged racism against some white guy who owned a pool that didn't let enough kids come in because he didn't have the room for those kids. Since a few more than average were black, everyone goes crazy and CNN gives a podium to this nonsense. If a black pool manager denied white kids just for being white he would be hailed.

After living in the South side of Chicago for fifty years, I offer this advice to White families: don't be the last Whites to move. Don't make excuses about losing money, or nice homes, your lives will be at stake. I bet this poor family now realizes this truth.

Why hasn't anyone put any thought into the increasing Gang Problems in Akron. This is obviously gang related with the number of individuals involved. These crimes are orchestrated events. One guy bum rushes the victim, and kicks his feet out from under him. then with the victim disabled and unable to fight back, the rest of the "Gang Members" rush in and start punching and kicking the victim. As a recent victim of one of these attacks I am not at all surprised that this happened. I live in Goodyear Hts. My attack happened on Newton St. I had just passed Jordan's market. One guy rushed in and tried to kick my feet out from under me. Then 15 to 20 other gang members rushed in. I was stunned that this could happen. No words were exchanged before the attack. I didn't resist when they were pulling my wallet out of my pocket, After receiving multiple kicks and punches from every direction. Just minutes after they fled they attacked two girls I had passed while walking up the hill. I was lucky i didn't end up in the hospital. I never called police. I figured without any description of the attackers, except 15-20 black males. There wouldn't be any arrests. Now i know it would of been a good idea to inform the police, so they could know whats happening in that area, and maybe it wouldn't happen to the next person.
