“PETA people” is not intentionally synonymous with “PITA people,” which acronym has to do with what some doctors were wont to scribble on patient charts to describe those who were Pains In The Arse. Still, that designation aptly applies to PETAs.

PETA even offered its alternative to smushing flies, its handy-dandy “Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher,” available for eight bucks for fly/bug lovers.

Now, I’m sure PETA people are very intelligent folks. After all, aren’t all caring folk sensitive? However, they may not be aware of the nature of the fly.

Berlet, I can tell you from first hand experience, PETA does actually do some great work. I rarely agree with their tactics, but they were a great help in rescuing "backyard dogs" in my neighborhood. Unable to get animal control's assistance, I contacted PETA, and a 1 year old male Pit and a litter of 8 were placed in good homes. Knocking them for nonsense, which they often bring on themselves, is petty. However, noting their accomplishments does both them and us good.

Oh really??? 40 million out of 320 million don't have healthcare at any time. Half are between jobs and are out of the system for a few weeks or don't want to pay for it even though they can afford it. That leaves 20 million, half of whom are illegal aliens and most could qualify for a govenment plan if they BOTHERED to sign up. More than 90% of people are HAPPY with their health care so how is stripping us of our current coverage going to COLLECTIVELY IMPROVE our lives? According to polls more poor here are happy with their healthcare coverage than the insured in England are today.

The whole point of both healthcare plans in the house and senate are to lower the access to quality healthcare by the middle class to that of the poor,ie medicare. This is EQUALITY under Obama, dumb down the healthcare system. He has stated he would not pledge that HIS family would only use a govenment healthcare plan most of us would be forced to use because he knows private care will still be available to the rich, like him who can pay cash for medical care under the new system. Neither plan will cut long term costs according to the CBO which is the "crisis" the Dems are using a pretext to "rham" these plans through Congress. By making sure your private insurance will become taxable income or banning people for signing up to new policies when they switch jobs or by subsidizing public plans on the taxpayers dime so private insurers can't compete will eventually compel all but the rich into a government healthcare plan. Then when we're hooked watch EVERYONE'S TAXES go through the roof while we receive government crap care.

I just read Witness, by Whittaker Chambers. I recommend it highly to all Americans, and to liberals too. Bottom line: Witness, and more recently the Venona transcripts, make clear that we have a communist infestation in this country, just as we do on this site, and both need the same treatment.

In particular, we need to revive the House Un-American Activities Committee, because God knows we have a lot of un-American activities going on.
