Apparently, according to Disassocaited Press "reporter" Ali Akbar Dareini, Wednesday's crash of an Iranian jet, a Russian-made airliner carrying 168 people, is the United States of America's fault. At least that's what the "experts" say. The plane was a Russian made Tupolev jet, an aircraft from Caspian Airlines aging fleet of Tu-154s.

This is the third paragraph verbatim:

"Iranian airlines, including state-run ones, are chornically strapped for cash, and maintenance has suffered, experts say. U.S. sanctions prevent Iran from updating it 30 year-old American aircraft and make it difficult to get European spare parts or planes as well. The country has come to rely on Russian made aircraft, many of them Soviet-era planes that are harder to get parts for since the Soviet Union's fall."

And from the third to last paragraph:

"Some jets in Iran's fleet are U.S. made craft bought before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, which led to a cut-off in ties between the nations. U.S. sanctions since prevent Iran from buying parts for those planes or new ones."

and from the last paragraph:
"The sanctions also bar sales of European jets with a certain amount of U.S. parts, limiting Iran's ability to buy from Europe."

The reporter does mention that the Iranian government controls air travel ticket prices such that it is not profitable to purchase new Russian planes. But of course, the fact that Iranian airlines can't buy safe, new airplanes, even from Russia, because of the Iranian government's controls over ticket prices probably has nothing to do with the tragic crash.
