Greenpeace Moonbats Defile Mount Rushmore

You would have thought moonbats had already defaced the nation sufficiently by putting an arrogant, Marxist community activist in the White House. But no:

Greenpeace activists were arrested Wednesday for scaling Mount Rushmore and hanging a banner next to the carved face of Abraham Lincoln urging President Barack Obama to get tough on climate change. …
"Doing what it takes to solve global warming demands real political courage," Greenpeace USA deputy campaigns director Carroll Muffett said in a statement.

Little Miss Muffett needn't worry — Comrade Obama has been eager to use the global warming hoax as a pretext to cripple the economy, putting millions more in a state of government dependency. With Big Media behind him, it will hardly take courage. No doubt she knows that; the spectacle was intended to create the impression that "the people" want Chairman Zero to consign us to economic ruin on behalf of the polar bears.

If I would have seen them doing that, I'd have tossed them off of Mt Rushmore.

Sums up their combination of holiness, need for self-promotion and disrespect for the legacy of our country. Imagine a conservative defacing a national monument; our humility and respect would never allow the thought to cross our minds.

I suppose scuffing up the rocks with Birkenstocks is a protected first amendment right. Kinda comes with the flag-burning.

As a marketing guy, the message is a mess. Why is Obama up there? Can't be glorification, because the message attacks his "weak" stance. If America honors its leaders, why are you defacing their most famous memorial? And what is the specific message about global warming that relates to Mt. Rushmore? Are the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore not doing enough?

Lastly, they may not have got the Gore memo 2 years that officially global warming is replaced by climate change as the official reference. Even we deniers know that.

Nobody's buying the global warming thing anymore. It's almost unfashionable. Clear-thinking, edgy, counterculture cool people don't act like sheep. Besides, we were all in turlenecks and jackets on the 4th of July. Our tomatoes look sad. Our corn is not "knee high by the fourth of July."

Shame on these people for this stunt. I wish one of them had fallen.

Didn't one of the founders of Greenpeace actually quit the organization because he didn't fall for AGW as the rest of the people in it did?

"Doing what it takes to solve global warming demands real political courage," Greenpeace USA deputy campaigns director Carroll Muffett said in a statement.

It also requires a complete disregard for reality.

There a new reality show Whale Wars, where a shipload of anti whaling activists on rickety old ship goes after Jap whaling ships. I keep hoping the Japs start blasting them with 3 inch shells from well placed deck guns or put a couple of torpedoes into it. A couple of the hippie crew got fubared with head injuries and blood pouring out - that was something, I guess.

Jackson' memorial cost $1.4 MM to taxpayers but Jacko's filthy rich family hasn't stepped in to pick up the tab. The Lakers celebration was $2 MM, same deal. Guess it's just expected that Joe Six Pack should pay for paying homage to the King of Wierdness. No wonder California can't pay its bills. The fool politicians who allow this should be tarred, feathered and thrown into the San Andreas fault.

To achieve Cap and Tax's 80% reduction in "greenhouse gas" production (which Greenpeace says still isn't enough) means an 80% reduction in living standards. Basically, the living standard of the average American would be reduced to that of the average Mexican (a country with 20% of our per capita GDP).

Obama can break ethics laws with impunity, and he can defy the laws of economics until the national debt credit card maxes out... but try as he might, he can't break the laws of thermodynamics.

Posted by: Flu-Bird at July 9, 2009 1:07 PM

Seamus, a founder of Greenpeace quit some time ago because the organization (which had initially been reasonable) had been hijacked by hard-core leftists, to pursue their own agenda.

I notice the daytime temp around Keystone is a comfy 75 degrees F today.
Probably a bit cooler on top of Mt. Rushmore when they did this, presumably early morning.

I bet these folks also believe in astrology.

Ignored in all of this AGW stupidity are the actual details. Let's say that these fools get their way and decide to "reduce temperatures by 2 degrees." Whose thermometer do they use? The one that is already biased too high (land-based, under Hansen's domain), or satellites, or balloons? Will we get reports on the annual temperature change? I always ask two questions: what is earth's temperature today, and who's in charge of setting the thermostat? These questions are unanswerable, yet we're going to commit trillions to "control" each. Madness....

I sure sure like to see GREEN PISS do this stupid shit in China.

Posted by: Dave at July 9, 2009 4:17 PM

I'm no fan of Greenpeace, but to say they "defiled" Mt. Rushmore? They hung a banner next to it, they didn't alter the monument in any way.

"{To achieve Cap and Tax's 80% reduction in "greenhouse gas" production (which Greenpeace says still isn't enough) means an 80% reduction in living standards}"

How does using less electricity mean a loss of living standards? I'd say the better the quality of your environment, the better the quality of your life, right?

Posted by: Hart at July 9, 2009 8:00 PM

What would happen if these GREENPIG wackos ever did this with the CRAZY HORSE monument or climbed up on THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE to unfurl these stupid signs

Posted by: the great bird of the galaxy at July 9, 2009 9:16 PM

What's next, skateboarding in the White House?

Posted by: Conservababe at July 9, 2009 10:39 PM

I certianly would have minded being a bird flying over those GREENPUNKS i would have taken a poop right on their heads

Posted by: Birdzilla at July 9, 2009 10:43 PM

Hart, you're being too simplistic (understatement of the week.) It's not just the gas pump and the electric bill that will skyrocket. EVERYTHING has energy in it. Everything you buy, including staples of life, has been produced and shipped to get to you. All that will be taxed astronomically, so that you're now looking at a $12 loaf of bread. That's before making the sandwich. Not only will we be shivering, we'll be hungry as well. That's quite a decline in standard of living, right?

Posted by: Karin at July 10, 2009 5:31 AM

You cant even go up the back of the mountain because affronts like this. There should have been no survivors.
80% reduction in greenpiiiis

Posted by: czuch at July 10, 2009 12:57 PM

To: 19%ers (White, rural, right-wing fringe idiots from "real" America)

From: 58%ers (Smart, educated, urban and urbane REAL Americans who are effectively working to create a more civilized, European-style world.)

Ha Ha Ha! You hear us? He He He Hee Hee Hooooo....

We love it! We love that you guys have your underwear in a bunch, that you are brimming with anger, that you can barely see because of your apoplexy. We will enjoy it for the next eight years. Oh the world is changing, and it is sweet. Universal health care is on the way, and nothing you can do will stop it. You will spend the next 50 years trying to dismantle it to no avail, just like you've been trying to dismantle Social Security since the 1930s. The energy bill will change the planet and the US for the better, and there's nothing you can do about it. You hear us? NOTHING!!!!

HA HA HA HA HA!!!

We love it that you love Sarah Palin. Please please please nominate her for President in 2012. Nothing will ensure another four years of progress than that. Oh sure, at some point, another Republican will get elected (2020?). No majority lasts forever (Mr. Rove). But that person will not be able to undo the progress that the Obama administration will have set in stone. Social Security and Civil Rights are now a fait accompli, and though idiots still try to attack them at the fringes, they aren't going anywhere. The same will happen with all the Obama programs.

And by the way, your numbers will keep dwindling. You are 19% of the population right now, but demographics are not on your side. Soon, white people will be a minority. Our increasingly numerous Black and Hispanic brethren and our growing urban centers will ensure your voices will continue to be marginalized until some day in the not-so-distant future they will be extinguished, just as backward, reactionary, pseudo-christian redneck zealotry always is.

Enjoy it while you can, suckers!!!! BWAAAAA-HAAAAAA-HAAAAAAA!
