Goracle Compares Imaginary Global Warming Menace to Nazis
Burrowing ever deeper into self-parody, Al Gore has validated Godwin's Law by comparing the global warming farce to the menace of Nazi Germany. From his sponsors at The Times:
Al Gore invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill yesterday when he urged political leaders to follow the example of Britain's wartime leader in the battle against climate change.
The former US Vice-President accused governments around the world of exploiting ignorance about the dangers of global warming to avoid taking difficult decisions.
Speaking in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by The Times, Mr Gore said: "Winston Churchill aroused this nation in heroic fashion to save civilisation in World War Two. We have everything we need except political will, but political will is a renewable resource."
Sorry, Prince Albert, but I'm still not taking your discredited hoax seriously. Maybe if you shrieked just a little more hysterically…

The belief that our planet is [warmed] by water vapor, is a BOLD FACED LIE.
Without this greenhouse gas, water vapor, our planet would not be Green. It would bake Brown. Water and it's vapor cools and nourishes our planet. Humidity is a way for the planet to cool itself, though the evaporation of [water]. Car cooling systems use water to cool an engine, not warm it.
You see, water is an excellent conductor of electricity (not insulator). It is also an excellent conveyer of other forms of energy, like heat. It quickly dissipates heat, creating a cooling effect, not warming.
The air above deserts is very arid (lacking moisture), yet the temperatures are hottest in these arid areas. What does this mean? O2 and N2 molecules are warmed without CO2 or water vapor.
However, the water vapor in the northeast has been keeping temperatures more springlike for the past month. Why?
Water, and it's vapor, is a cooling agent.

During the campaign, people who said Obama was a socialist were ridiculed as paranoid, and the notion that his administration would nationalize industries and impose draconian regulations on people's lives was dismissed as absurd.
Yet, under his Crap and Trade bill, the government has the authority to energy audit every private home in America.

The reason water cools and engine is that its at a lower temperature - any fluid or gas that has a lower temp would cool and engine. Freon is one. So that argument is just plain stupid.
All you need as proof that water vapor keeps the Earth warm is take a summer night with low humidity (low water vapor) and compare it to one with high humidity (high water vapor). The water vapor acts a blanket keeping temperatures higher. Anyone who slept thru a hot humid summer night without air conditioning can testify to that fact. On humid nights the temps rarely fall below 65-70. But on days like this morning here in Pennsylvania, the temps bottomed out at 51 overnight. As for deserts, on a low humidity day it can get mighty cold. Not so much during the monsoon season when humidity can be a killer. Water vapor is not evenly distributed, silly Gorebot.

Karin - THAT is what I call a crisis.

With low humidity, as in the desert, temperatures from night to day vary more than they do with high humidity. Daytime temperatures in the desert can be scorchingly high, while nighttime temperatures are bone-chillingly cold. The water in the air gives it a higher thermal mass, which causes temperature to change more slowly.
The thing is the change, though. "Climate change" is the accumulation of differences between inputs and exhausts over time. The debate is, or should be, whether human-induced changes are significant enough to throw off the balance one way or the other, presumably with catastrophic effect. The models being used are in no way sufficient to determine this well enough to define policy. For example, they ignore the radiance of the sun proportional to the sunspot cycle. The AGW priests are simply the latest incarnation of inernational communists attempting to overthrow capitalism.

Is there no end to the hubris of these idiots? Now they are going to limit temperature increases all on their own. Never mind the temperatures over the last 10 years has declined close to 1 degree despite increasing CO2 levels.

Let's see, he told us that in five years the ice caps will be melted. That was about a year ago so we should be roughly 20% into this meltdown. If true then 20% is a rather significant amount and data would show if his calculations were correct. Haven't heard anything supporting his warning. However I did read today that perhaps sunspots are coming back so it may indeed trend towards a natural cyclic warming.
It would be interesting to see someone sue him for fraud and have him defend his data in open court before a jury of his peers. Of course in his mind he has no peers.

I don’t have time to teach you basic thermodynamics, but here’s a hint: since energy is conserved (First Law of Thermodynamics), and heat is a form of energy (molecular motion), within a closed system if one object is cooled, another has to be warmed. You’re confusing entropy (dissipation of heat) and temperature with enthalpy/energy (total amount of heat). Pour a liter of boiling water into the ocean: there is no change whatever in heat, but there is in temperature (not the same thing as heat), and in entropy (the ability of that boiling water to do work, such as powering a steam engine, is diminished by dilution).

Global warming (per se) is a massive pseudo-religious HOAX!
The only thing ‘Nazi-like’ is the constant, unfailing, mind-boggling, no-questions-asked willingness of the Left to fall into a lemming-like LOCKSTEP with anything Obama says…! Is this a frickin’ religion or what?
Where the hell has reason, logic, or plain common sense gone? You can’t disagree with ONE SINGLE THING this guy says or does. You used to seem intelligent to me Anonymous, but I’ve determined you are a “yes man” who is incapable of independent thought. If Obama gave you a gerbil and said it was a fish, you’d take it home, fillet it, and saute it in lemon butter! Where is the inquiring mind? Where is the intense study of fact to bolster your opinion? Where is the search for wisdom? Where is your pride man?
I mentioned this before, but when I was in the sixth grade I knew that the Mississippi Delta was created by glaciers…………I guess it had to warm up a bit to melt those huh? And how do you think that plant DNA deep below the surface of Greenland got there? ObaMagic?
It doesn’t matter the issue, the person, the threat, the outcome, or the history…Obama gets a free pass…and so does this global warming crap!

Also, there are 3 different means by which heat is transferred. This is always hammered into you when you go to firefighting school. There is radiant heat transference, there is conductive heat transference and then there is convective heat transference.
1. Radiant
2. Conductive
3. Convective
I'd always thought that greenhouse gases work by radiant transference. Don't they calculate the cumulative greenhouse effect by calculating the radiant properties of the various greenhouse gases, with no regard to conductive mechanisms? In fact, isn't it the radiant properties of the gases which makes them by definition "greenhouse gases?" That's what I'd always thought.
Water cooled engines work by conductive heat transference, RICH, with the radiator actually working as a means of convective heat transference.
You know what would be funny, is if we were to find out that RICH is actually Al Gore.

Alpha, I wasn't engaging on the issue of global-whatchamacallit-warming-change, as we'll probably never agree on that.
The only thing I was pointing out (very light heartedly I might add) is that the Nazi comparison (a word he doesn't even use here, but really only makes connotation to) is something that you all do daily.
I will say that I've checked out a couple of the counter-sites I've been pointed to before from you and your fellows here and haven't found them at all convincing. Often the "Nobel Prize Winners" that are quoted are in unrelated (although yes, scientific) fields, or when I go to the source article, I see that this or that scientist's comments have been significantly skewed by the way they have been edited when quoted here.
I am by no means a purist on the topic. I don't claim to definitively know either way. I can really only read what others have written and apply my common sense to the topic, which leads me to the conclusion that the effects are quite likely (although slow moving)
I still have plenty of work to do today, but will try to check out your heartland link when I get home.
PS - For the record, I am not "in lockstep" with anyone, and last time someone tried a Jedi mind trick on me, I still didn't mistake a gerbil for a fish. While I can get as emotional and argumentative as the next guy over topics I believe in, I try hard to stay as open to the truth as I can be. You should too.

Al Whore,
"any fluid or gas that has a lower temp would cool and engine. So that argument is just plain stupid."
Not exactly, stupid. Some engines are air cooled, and some are water cooled. I encourage you to drain the coolant from your engine and drive around, letting only gas (O2, N2) cool it. Good luck :)
"The water vapor acts a blanket keeping temperatures higher."
No, it makes the temperature "feel" higher. Look up heat index.
Mr. Evilwrench,
"Daytime temperatures in the desert can be scorchingly high"
Not if water vapor is present.
Jay Guevara,
"within a closed system if one object is cooled, another has to be warmed."
All of the systems on Earth are classified as open systems. Our atmosphere is, for all intent and purpose, warmer near the surface, and cooler away from it. In other words, most of our atmosphere (including CO2) is cooler compared to the earth's near surface.
1. Heat always rises.
2. Heat is transferred from warm to cold. NOT the reverse.
Question: How can HEAT naturally transfer from an upper level [cold] molecule to a nearer surface [warm] molecule? Wouldn't that defy the second law of thermodynamics?
The basis for GHG theory, is that water and it's vapor (major GHG) warms our planet. I disagree and just presented an arguement that water vapor, may be neither a warming agent or a cooling one.
Example:
Without sufficient heat, a fire cannot begin, and it cannot continue. Heat can be removed by dousing with water; the water turns to steam taking the heat with it.
Without sufficient Oxygen, a fire cannot begin, and it cannot continue. With a decreased oxygen concentration (fire extinguishers use CO2) the combustion velocity gets lower.
CO2 and water vapor are [products] of warming, not [producers] of it.

No, I don't try to dismiss it. I only say that just because it comes from my side of the fence doesn't mean that I necessarily agree and definitely doesn't mean that I am personally responsible for it.
"I'm guessing you didn't speak up"
I live in a very liberal city, and while I of course heard name calling and jokes, I never heard anyone call Republicans nazis or fascists. Conquerors, gun-lovers, war-lovers, yes ... the rest of it no. If I had, I would definitely speak up.
