Dissent Silenced in Congress

Under a rule written by Thomas Jefferson, bills going through the House of Representatives are to be publicly posted for 3 days before they can be voted on. But like so many other fundamental features of this country, this rule seems unlikely to survive Hopey Change. Well aware that few people would support her radical left agenda if they knew what were in the bills she's been ramming down our throats until after it's too late, Nazi Pelousy has ignored the 3-day rule on the following bills:

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - The Obama Stimulus
The Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization (SCHIP)
The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
The Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009
The Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009
The AIG Bonus Tax Act
The Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2009
The American Clean Energy and Security Act/National Cap-and-Trade Energy Tax

What are the odds we'll have 3 days to preview ObamaCare before they bring it down on our heads?

Technically, we do not yet have single party rule. But Rep. John Carter (R-TX) explains what happened when Republicans tried to object to the Democrats' heavy-handedness:

Monday night Democrats voted to shut down the U.S. House Representatives rather than allow a handful of Republican Congressmen to speak on the floor. What could have been so offensive or frightening about our discourse that Speaker Pelosi felt she had to protect her party by gagging free speech in the House?
In fact, we had planned to speak on the lack of transparency of the House since Democrats took control. We had planned to criticize Speaker Pelosi for repeatedly denying Members, the media, and the public to right to read legislation before it was voted on. We were set to discuss House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's statement last week that if his Members were required to read the Democrats' healthcare reform package before it was voted on, it would fail.

The rising tide of left-wing scum that has engulfed the White House and Congress is washing away our constitutional republic. Unless we take back control of the government soon, we will be the last generation of Americans to live like Americans. The cataclysmic election last November was historic, all right.

Ah yes, now transparency means "pass it before they can look"...

Why comrades, thats doubleplusgood!

Maybe by "transparency" they mean "anyone with half a brain will be able to see right through what these assholes are up to"? They're just counting on most of us falling short even of half.

Some day, all the Democrats will walk out of Congress then New Black Panthers armed with AK-47s will appear in the balcony and open fire on the Republicans something like that scene in the 1987 miniseries AMERIKA where Congress was wiped out in a hail of bullets by their Russian overlords.

To be honest, I don't think it much matters. The people who want to know what's in the bill are going to find out one way or another. The other 98% of people will keep reading entertainment news to find out what people think of a movie, or what some actor said, or some other frivolous garbage, whether the bill has 3 days to be read or not.

The American system of government was designed to be slow, ponderous, and difficult to get anything done. And now we know why. The U.S. government's slow pace and "Congress shall make no law" clauses in the Constitution (which they ignore as a matter of course, anyway) are not a bug; they're a feature. We're not supposed to be able to ram legislation through unread as fast as someone can dream it up; the ensuing debate is supposed to ensure that all (or at least most) sides of an issue at least have a chance to speak their minds and make their opinions heard. The left would have a conniption if a Republican Congress or President did something like this, but of course it's OK when their guy does it.

What will it take for a leader to appier and say "attack"? A hundred years ago, we would have lynched several of them befor now. But then again, a hundred years ago, we were too smart to let this happen.

KHarn, I have to reluctantly agree, and wonder if an armed revolution or civil war will take place within a generation.

I wonder if the resident leftist trolls are going to come out and defend this one.

J - There are thousands of REAL Americans that are ready for some sort of action to take their own country back. We better damn well do it before we get too old and are 'eliminated' through non-"health care", and/or there is nothing left to stand up for.
