Dan Rather Wants News Media Run by Comrade Obama
Disgraced left-wing propagandist Dan Rather, whose illustrious career imploded when he tried to torpedo W's reelection with last minute lies about his National Guard service backed up by forged documents, is calling upon Comrade Obama to bail out the dinosaur media that he so risibly personifies.
As if the relationship between the Obama Administration and the news media weren't cozy enough already, former "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather is calling on President Obama to "make recommendations" for the media on how to survive the economic downturn.
Rather spoke at the Aspen Institute in Aspen, Colo. on July 28 and addressed challenges to the news industry, which he described as challenges to the "very survival of American democracy," and insisted the president should step in.
"I personally encourage the president to establish a White House commission on public media," Rather said, according to the July 29 Aspen Daily News.
According to the story, Rather said "corporate and political influence" on newsrooms had damaged the industry and was cause for concern.
"A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom," Rather said in an interview. "This is not something just for journalists to be concerned about, and the loss of jobs and the loss of newspapers, and the diminution of the American press' traditional role of being the watchdog on power. This is something every citizen should be concerned about."
By "truly free and independent," he means controlled by his fellow leftists in the government, and propped up with money expropriated by force.
The absurdity of advocating a Chavez-style government takeover of the news media in the name of preserving democracy shouldn't be lost even on idiots — Blather himself apparently excepted.

If you read his statement, it seems like he's almost groping blindly close to the point, but fails to understand the irony of a media too greatly influenced by corporate and political influences, then asking for a government, ie political, solution to this. Plus he persists in his astounding failure to acknowledge his own role in his downfall. Face it, the people in the precious media he so much wants to preserve are with him ideologically. They gave him awards subsequent to his ouster. He was awarded with a job on a cable TV backwater, because although they knew they couldn't put him up front, they take care of their own. He takes this to mean he has some kind of credibility, but he's just so far from really understanding. It's truly saddening that someone so out of touch with reality was given to us as a spokesman for reality.
My bumper sticker for the incident was: Dan's face, with the CBS logo as a black eye, and the text: SeeBS News with Dan Blather / Kenneth, what is the Typeface?
You'd have to remember the incident prior when he was accosted by a couple of well dressed gentlemen who would hit him, then ask "Kenneth, what is the frequency?" I thought it worked out well.

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence could see this coming from fifty miles away....and it's all part and parcel of Dear Leader's plan to "improve" the USA. A Govmint subsidized media would, of course, become instantly beholding to the man who signs the checks and....PRESTO, a "legitimate" defacto Socialized wing is not only created, but bastardized right before our very eyes. This administration is veering soooooo far off course it's frightening....and I don't frighten easily. The vast majority of the media is still very much in the Obama tank, this would increase the size of that tank to "hold 'em all"!

How about putting the 'investigative' back into investigative journalism? I know it is near heresy to investigate your own kind but give it a try. There is plenty out there to revive the industrial media.
You can start with Murtha's connections, Rangel's confusion over what revenue is, Feinstein's directing business to her husband's business, Barney Frank's connects over at Fannie or was it with Freddie, Rep 'Cold Cash' Jefferson, Pelosi's compulsive lying, the Justice Dept blacks turning a blind eye to obvious violations of the Voting Rights Act by blacks and then if want to get really busy look into ACORN or why Obama doesn't want us to know anything about his past. Just way too many things to list for you to be sitting there bitching. Get off your ass a work for your money.
