A Glimpse of Our Future Under Obamunism
Via The Chive, see if you can guess where this school is located:

Here's a clue: the school is in a formerly middle class neighborhood in America's most liberal city, which is now apparently serving as a model for federal policy objectives.
This is our country a few years down the road if we don't take it back.
On a tip from b1bbet.

The yearbook was a dead give-away...

These photo's remind me of Detroit but for all I know this school could be located in San Francisco which in my opinion is the most liberal cities in the United States.

Ah, Detroit. The drain down which all my state tax goes.
*sigh*

Why is an abandoned school loaded up with all that stuff?!? It should have been divvied up and spread out amongst the still operating schools in the district, or state; at least moved to storage for liquidation on the surplus market.
TOTAL waste of taxpayer dollars...

i was think san francisco till i saw the yearbook. and whats up with all the broken monitors??? i guess that is "living the dream".

It's Detroit, What makes you think that school is abandoned?
Posted by: Anonymous at July 29, 2009 8:46 AM
I've seen these before. It's Detoilet. The school stands in a barren area, formerly a middle class neighborhood. I don't think it was abandoned intentionally, in fact they forgot to lock one of the doors and the locals found their way in.

The progressives/liberals/socialists or whatever they're dubbing themse4lves these days, own Detroit.
Detroit is the result of decades of being inflicted with leftist socio-economic policies.
But this is merely a rest stop along the road to which their philosophy leads. It gets much worse further along.

Who needs those old computers when corrupt Detroit educrats now have access to your U.S. taxpayers "stimulus" dollars to flush down the toilet bowl to their cesspool of a public school system. While the computers in the pictures sit and rot, here's a sampling of the $148 million in new computer goodies they want on your nickel:
• $15 million for Learning Village, a Web-based product that features online lesson plans, ongoing assessment to measure student achievement and supplemental literacy materials to help teachers with individualized instruction.
• $14.2 million for Netbooks for all 36,000 students and 4,000 teachers in grades 6-12 for access to technology to support hands-on learning.

Hey, what about new Netbooks for my kids? Oh, I forgot, we owe it to the corrupt Detroit educrats who've done such a great job managing the system to "spread the wealth," even though 60% of their students will drop out before graduating.
"Detroit's children deserve the same opportunities and technologies as their peers in the suburbs and private schools, and this plan opens the gate for those chances," said Barbara Byrd-Bennett, the district's chief academic and accountability auditor.
"We will not accept failure any longer," she said. "Parents say they won't tolerate failure any longer, and we have a collective responsibility to the children in our schools."
Byrd-Bennett is a liberal's dream choice for Detroit's chief academic and accountability auditor, and a prime example of why the nation's public school systems are a disaster. Before slithering into Detroit, Byrd-Bennett spent nearly seven years as the superintendent of Cleveland schools and recently resigned amid a number of controversies and scandals from the position that paid her nearly $400,000 dollars a year in salary and benefits.

That school district is responsible for educating 70,000 students, and in 2005 ran a reported 68 million dollar defecit.
Here are some of her "accountability" accomplishments that qualify her, as well as her preferred color, be the district's chief academic and accountability auditor:
May, 2002 - Byrd-Bennett went on a trip to England and stayed at Herrod's. Herrod's website claims that it "promises one of the most extravagant and luxurious shopping experiences in the world." Oh. Okay. Glad that money was spent wisely. Keep in mind that many toilets don't work.
July, 2002 - Byrd-Bennett takes a trip to Maui and stays at the Kapula Ritz Carlton. Average room at the Kapula Ritz Carlton? $495 per night. During those five days, she spent $1,082.18 on meals. That's $216 spent on food each day. Or over 70 bucks per meal.
Later that year, Byrd-Bennett buys a business class ticket from Cleveland to Washington D.C. for $1,300. When asked why she had to get such expensive seats, Byrd-Bennett explained that she had a medical condition that made it necessary for her to fly first-class and showed a doctor's note to prove it. When she was asked what a normal person with the same condition should do if they couldn't afford the first class tickets, she replied "I don't know, I guess I don't think I'm your normal person."
Later, she went to dinner in Cleveland Heights. She ate steaks, lobster and beer, and only spent $428.38 on dinner. There is no documentation of the attendants of this dinner, but we were assured that this was a business meeting. Maybe she can stop by the White House and have a beer with the Prez.
Oh, did I mention that Byrd-Bennett got a company car and two escorts to drive her wherever she goes, and the top brass at the Cleveland school board where she previously sat get up to $500 a month toward car payments?

With all the talk about "greedy corporate types" making bonuses, where the hell is the investigation and public outcry of con-artists like Byrd-Bennett gorging themselves on the public trough?

Those photos are most likely a pretty good representation of the education coming out of the school when it was active.

As someone who currently works in child education, the photos above make me just irate as all get out. What unbridled waste & decrepitude!

FYI.
It looks like there's some cross talk about these photos not being from just one Detroit school (Jane Cooper Elementary)in the root blog they came from.

Ha,ha, ha. The only people you’d fool with these pictures are non-Detroiters. Nice try though. Come back in a couple of years and we’ll have some abandoned auto plants for you to look at too.

Detroit, aka "New Mogadishu"
This is the future that The Ghost of Wellstone wants for all of us.....

Dewey, very true. Allover the internet you can pics just like these of in every major city. Pretending this is just in Detroit is foolish. Dewey also notice, there are no pics here of Fox Town. Us Detroiters will gladly admit we have our work cut out for us. It is not going to happen over night. Take a look at cities in Missouri that are looking just as bad.

Yeah, you burnt down your own house and now you really do have your work cut out for you. Good luck! Raising taxes will probably help!

When a white guy says he lives in Detroit 9 times out of 10 they mean to say they live in one of the suburbs that surrounds Detroit.
