SF Judge: Terrorists Can Sue Bush Officials

Impossible as it might seem, the farce into which the War on Terror has degenerated under Chairman Zero has become still more absurd. It wasn't enough to give terrorists apprehended on foreign battlefields Miranda rights. Now terrorists can sue Bush Administration lawyers if they feel they weren't coddled with sufficient tenderness. From the Obamedia:

A convicted terrorist can sue a former Bush administration lawyer for drafting the legal theories that led to his alleged torture, ruled a federal judge who said he was trying to balance a clash between war and the defense of personal freedoms.
The order by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White of San Francisco is the first time a government lawyer has been held potentially liable for the abuse of detainees.

San Francisco pointedly does not participate in the defense of the country, putting the screws to the military at every opportunity and arrogantly refusing to enforce immigration law. Yet its nutcase judges can impose their moonbattery on the rest of us.

As you may recall, Jose Padilla was plotting with al Qaeda to set off a radioactive "dirty bomb" in an American city. This makes him the good guy, from the point of view of the vermin who are now in charge of our country.

But was Padilla really tortured? Of course not.

His lawsuit alleges he was illegally detained and was subjected to sleep deprivation, temperature extremes, painful stress positions, and extended periods of bright lights and total darkness. Padilla also alleges he endured threats that he would be killed, that his family would be harmed, and that he would be transferred to another country to be tortured.

The AC was up too high, the lights were too bright, he didn't get enough sleep, there was a pea under his mattress, et cetera. Meanwhile, in Muslim countries people are getting their fingernails torn off. The worst of Padilla's "torture" was allegedly being told he would be transferred to the sort of country where he really would be tortured.

Any judge who wouldn't laugh this case out of court needs to be removed from the bench immediately for reasons of national security. But his depraved views make White a smooth fit with the rest of our rulers.

Doesn't anyone remember this?

"in Muslim countries people are getting their fingernails torn off."

I knew you wanted nothing more than to resort to their methods, but to say it so boldly is disgusting.

In muslim countries people are getting far worse than their fingernails torn out, and that's just their own citizens. That, however, is nothing to do with what or even whether "we" whoever you think that is, would like to be able to do the same to these vermin. The point is not even whether maybe we've discomforted them a bit, but whether what has been done to them IN FACT constitutes torture per se. And you people keep shifting from comparing what we've done to them to what they've done to us, to whether what we've done is ok, to whether the guys that did it were pure in their hearts and souls, etc. Try to stay with one point.

Now, would this be a civil or criminal case? Would the terrorist (excuse me, alleged terrorist) be collecting mucho dinero from the lawsuit lotto, or would the defendant be facing some time in a real prison, vs the resort these vermin (er, excuse me, alleged not-so-nice-guys) have been lounging (there I go again) have been, um, ok, let's just go with, um, forced to stay in?

Can we bring a law suite against Saudi Arabia?

Most of their citizens were involved with the attacks.

You Liberals are always saying that our solders are looting, mudering and raping civilians. So by your "logic", just by saying it YOU LIBERALS admit that you want to do that too.

"...subjected to sleep deprivation, temperature extremes, painful stress positions, and extended periods of bright lights and total darkness"

sounds like my fraternity initiation

Liberals have dumbed down the definition of torture to: "Any discomfort a terrorist complains about."

Is it possible to have judges recalled or impeached it it possible to have that lwayer and his client hanged?

Too bad we can't sue, Loony Cloony, Rosie O'Donnell, or the rest of the Hollyweird elite for their Noise.

This is a bogus post. First, our troops are not running around reading suspects/terrorists their rights. It is an FBI policy that came to fruition under Bush, and Obama has not changed it. Further, to quote Gen. Patreaus, "the FBI is doing what the FBI does." Nice Fox talking point try, but it has been debunked. Second, suspects, by law should be read their rights to ensure the safety of evidence gathered. Third, it is proven beyond fact, that we have detained innocent people. So,it is easy to suggest that whether it suing members of the Bush Crime Family or joining the fight, I will take the former.

Dude - in all conflicts, innocents are occasionally detered in the interest of greater good. That is a simple fact of life as long as there are those out there who believe the murdering of innocents promotes their cause.

And I have to ask... Just what the f*ck does "beyond fact" mean, dipshit? Rewriting history? There IS nothing beyond truth - except in a silly liberal's delusional mind.

You attempt to come across as "calm, cool, and intelligent" - but you're just another liberal idiot.

"...it is proven beyond fact,..." What a moronic statement. LOL! And you want thinking people to take you seriously????????????????

So the bastard is suing for the same stuff - even tamer - then I and my son (NSW) went through in SERE school? Christ, I used to put the scout troop through about as much misery on cold weather survival training........ and they kept coming back.

Give me a friggin break!

Posted by: Oiao at June 14, 2009 11:28 PM

Ahhhh... so law enforcement agencies throughout the world have mistakenly detained innocents, does that mean we should do away with law enforcement?

That's liberal logic for you...

You do realize that most of the detainees have nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, right?
