Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Jeff Olsen
Even in the contemptible era of Hopey Change, patriotism remains alive, like a smoldering ember that might yet grow back into a glorious blaze.
Jeff Olsen doesn't pay much attention to the garbage he collects unless he spots red and white stripes or white stars on a blue background.
Whenever he sees a U.S. flag in the trash, Olsen retrieves it and takes it back to Waste Management offices in this Chicago suburb [Elgin, Illinois]. He has rescued more than 250 flags in the past 18 months.
Flags collected by Olsen and his coworkers are taken to the American Legion for proper disposal.
"It's the symbol of our nation, so you have to take care of it," Olsen says. "You dump it, you see it, you grab it and you get it to the right place."
We don't ever want to forget that the flag doesn't just represent the bloated obscenity into which our government has deteriorated. It also represents America.

On a tip from MP.

I wonder if Jeff has collected any flags that have been stomped on by William Ayers. Jeff's actions are patriotic! They are good reminder to all of us that know what the flag symbolizes and represents that this Sunday, June 14th, is Flag Day.

And Sunday is the day to take your old tattered flags to the Legion (I have two). They appreciate it. I am fortunate to live in a little town which displays lots of flags.

Now that's a patriot who shows respect for our nation's flag. Kudos to him. I only wish more people would really care about this great country and her honor.

How about burning the UN flag and tell moonbats to STICK IT

Jeff Olsen is a good man that is leading by example, and is a credit to America as well as the country of his birth.
I am sure his wife and children are proud of him, as we all are.
God Bless you and yours, Jeff - and God Bless America.
ALSO - if any of you need to properly dispose of a flag that is no longer in suitable condition for display, please do the right thing and take it to your local American Legion post. Most VFW posts and Boy Scout / Girl Scout units will accept them as well.
I'm sure most of the regulars that post out here on Moonbattery already know all this, but it bears repeating, and make sure your friends and neighbors get the word. As this story shows, there are still some people out there that don't know any better.
Thanks again, Mr. Olsen - and tell Mrs. Olsen I said "HOOAH!!"

You're right there TonyD. When I was a boy scout, there was no cooler campfire activity of getting to retire a flag. I heard a story of one scout who made eagle by collecting and retiring over 200 flags.

"countermoonbattery" just a couple more syllables and you'll almost have "supercalifragi...."
