Murtha - the plot thickens. If Murtha was a Republican - Pelousy would be calling for show trials and hearings.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090605/ap_on_go_co/us_murtha_drug_dealers
"WASHINGTON – Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., steered millions of dollars in defense work to a campaign donor and the Pentagon went along with it, despite the fact that two convicted drug dealers had been deeply involved with the company.
Records filed in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh starting in 2005 raise questions about whether the government ever checked into the background of William Kuchera of Windber, Pa., a Murtha constituent who has been doing government work for over 20 years.
The records point to the political peril of Murtha and other members of Congress directing federal funds to particular contractors, an oft-criticized process known as earmarking that has added hundreds of billions of dollars to the defense budget in recent years.
The companies owned by William Kuchera and his brother — Kuchera Defense Systems and Kuchera Industries Inc. — have received $53 million in federal contracts in this decade alone."

With all his jettin' around of late, I wonder if Chairman Teleprompter will find time to make a stop on the beaches of Normandy and take a moment to ponder and reflect on the 65th anniversary of D-Day and the lives that were sacrficed to make our nation and much of Europe free from tryranny!?

If THE ONE stops by the beaches at Normandy he would drone on about how American Imperialist Colonial forces carpet bombed the civilians of Germany, Italy and Japan and nuked the Japs just to rub it in.

THE REINTRODUCTION OF SLAVERY
It is surprisingly ironic that while America enjoys its greatest freedom ever, some would actually be calling for the reintroduction of slavery. The puzzling suggestion seems to be asking for an abrogation of heretofore established liberties, the segregation of well-entrenched segments of society, and the actual subjugation of multitudes into a slave-master relationship. Abraham Lincoln is surely shuddering in his grave, but not for the reasons you might think. The delirium tremens-type shock Abe is undoubtedly experiencing is not so much the slavery issue, as it is the fact the person who used his bible for the January 2009 presidential inauguration, is the one calling for slavery. Yup, you guessed it, President Barack Obama. But we need to be totally ‘transparent’ here—this time the slavery won’t be limited exclusively to blacks. Nope. This time around, with the exception of a small elite class, it will be equal opportunity slavery.
When you sell a product it is helpful to label it in an appetizing manner. In the 1980’s, I bought my first cell phone. I paid $275 for what the salesman said was a Motorola MC750 “Ultra Classic II” Extended-Antenna Mobile Radio Phone. Wow! Years later when I tried to get some trade-in value on a new upgrade, the salesman told me my old “brick phone” was worthless. Like the new phone, a version of slavery is being sold to the American public using an appealing name. The fancy term they are using is “Bailouts”. This is willfully misleading and it needs to change immediately. A few short years down the road it will be too late, when we realize we should have called them what they are--“Takeovers”. American democracy itself, and our current system of individual freedom, private ownership, and the free market, are rapidly being usurped and replaced by centralized government policy, management, and control. A state-run government ‘takeover’ is Marxism, and Marxism is nothing short of enslavement.

Yeah, and Jake and Ellwood were "On A Mission from God".

Too bad there is no god or at least one that gives a shit about you or me... The rest of you can make war for your "god"... and beg for favors and worry about if he's pissed or jealous. I'm quite sure the man Jesus would give Obama a thumbs up. (see sermon on the mount)

V - that sums up liberal ideology quite nicely, alright... "...Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God."
The only thing he stands above other than a urinal is all the silly liberals who worship him. The worthless SOB is definitely the liberals' "golden calf". (Although I see him as as a calf carved from a big chunk of stinking excrement rather than one molded from gold.)

The Christian Bible
Genesis 1:26-28
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
The Liberal Bible
Obama 1:26-28
26 Then the liberals said, “Let us change man into what we imagine, according to our likeness; let them have no dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, or over the cattle, or over all the earth or over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So liberals created a man in their own image; Obama the Marxist. 28 Then the liberals blessed him, and said to him, “You are sculpted of stinking excrement in our image; fill the earth with crap and subdue it; have dominion over all people. Remove their ability to be independent, take their liberties from them, subdue them and make them indebted to you, and hungry. Have dominion over their factories and unions. Make everything that moves upon the earth suffer.” And though it stank of a cesspool, the liberals fell to the ground and worshipped their creation, and wished to have sex with it to multiply (or maybe just for the orgasm).

This is just another extreme comparison that does nothing to illuminate. The only purpose is to associate the word socialism with obama. The word socialism has a negative connotation because of the cold war, but if you look at our economy, it has always incorporated elements of socialism, and we are nowhere close to nationalizing our industries. If any one in government suggesting nationalizing our industries, they would be run out of town immediately by both the left and the right.
Posted by: Brandon at June 5, 2009 8:45 PM
Where is the word "socialism" in this thread, Brandon?
What "extreme comparison" are you speaking of? The only thing "extreme" I read here is the disgusting hate from fez.
You should really try to be more clear.
Posted by: Anonymous at June 5, 2009 8:59 PM
ahh you caught me red handed!
i should have just said socialism, rather than 'the word socialism'.
comparing obama's (and bush's) efforts to save the economy to them reviving marxism is extreme. and absurd. it's says to me the author is either crass or is ignorant about marxism.
nearly every post here is extreme, whether it is an extreme generalization (liberals are nazis), extreme exaggeration (the supreme court nominee being racist) or extreme imagery (obama made to look like osama).
Posted by: Brandon at June 5, 2009 10:01 PM
Brandon - You're grasping at straws, and they're all breaking under the weight of your defensiveness, inconsistencies, and "euphoric ideals"
You elect Obama and then call other ideals "absurd"? Yeah it's "all Bush's fault" - get over it. Your guy is "in charge". And since then, EVERYTHING has gone to hell. Take some responsibility. Your Bush blaming is what's "aburd" and is complete cop-out.
Go preach to YOUR choir - the people here don't sing your 'kiss obama's ass' songs.
Go opologize to a mooslim for "forcing them" to kill 3,000 noncombatants on 9-11, just like your beloved little shit-brown god obama has done the last few days. You are a fool. You will die with your head in your lap, in mid-apology, couresty of those you wish to appease. I'll die taking at least 50 of the worthless scum with me.
When I die the world will be a safer place. When you die it will make no difference. Doesn't that make you a little sick to your stomach? No? That's because you are a liberal.
Enjoy your freedom of speech on this blog - one that is not afforded to conservatives on hate sites like daily cuss and that european bitch - I forget her name... airheadianna??? And remember your freedom to post here was paid for by a dead soldier whom you detest. Which is why we detest your kind. You are ungrateful leaches.

Jimbo, I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, but if you're trying to make a point, you might be better off using reasoning.
Beyond that, why make it personal? Is this a personality contest? Are we here to try to prove to each other how baddass, how responsible, how smart, how patriotic or how moral we are? Just so you know, I don't put much stock in the judgments of random people on the internet.
You also seem to be provoking me with inflammatory accusations - that's just childish, learn some manners.
I guess I should respond to the one seemingly concrete thing that you said. Where the hell did I blame Bush for anything?
Thanks for being extreme. Are you really a leftist helping me make my point? If so, that's cheating.

All I know is a guy who threatens to take 50 people with him when he dies, 50 people he deems "scum", and then claims the world will be a better place for it, is clearly mentally unstable. Jimbo, you are one of the guys we read about. If you want to hurt yourself, that's ok with me, just hope you don't hurt anyone else. You see we are freaking out here, Jimbo, you are. Do you read what you write? Do you even consider your words, or do you just let that hate pour out?
Seriously, seek help. You are not well.
and i said that if I knew you I would seek someone to intervene on your behalf. If you do give me your address I would be happy to pass it on, along with your postings, to the FBI. Typical Liberal reaction: fear, hate and threats. "Be silent, or I'll call the police!" People who suffered under tyrany have all feared "the midnight knock" and watched their neighbors carefully, both to make sure they were toeing the party line and also out of fear that they might do or say something "wrong". In Spain under the fashist Franco, a man was arrested for putting a stamp on a envelope UPSIDEDOWN because the stamp had Franco's picture on it!
Liberals see nothing wrong with this as long as THEY are in power.

Brandon- "The only purpose is to associate the word socialism with obama..."
Quelle horreur! What cheek the reactionary dogs have to call comrade Spade a spade. The Cultural Revolution unleashed by Chairman Bazza is beyond political buzzwords. "Socialism" is for effete liberals. Our Dear Leader is a living God! The deity of Progressive neo-collectivism. Bourgeois concepts like "socialism" shall wither beneath the might of the Third Way. Business suits and bayonets, brother!
Brandon- "The word socialism has a negative connotation because of the cold war..."
Exactly, comrade! "Socialism" is like sunshine! It has been portrayed in a negative light only due to the influence of the imperialists during the campaign to infiltrate the so-called "Free World". Bah! "Socialism" has been the victim of of an historical beat-up. All "socialism" needs is some good press, and the proletariat will embrace the revolution like a small child would cuddle a teddy bear, or kitten. Thanks to our comrades in the enlightened, post-imperialist media, Chairman Hussein will give us that kitten.
Posted by: chairman soetoro's oprichniki at June 6, 2009 5:30 PM
thanks for the whacky over-the-top response.
did you happen to know that the US has had a mixed economy since its birth? Did you know that we are not faced with an extreme either/or free market/socialism decision? We are already in a balance between a free market and a socialist market. To frame a change in the balance as a complete shift to socialism is wildly off mark.
Can you even guess what socialist aspects our country was born with?
Posted by: Brandon at June 6, 2009 5:51 PM
Brandon, socialism is fundamentally immoral and anti-progressive. It rewards the indolent and improvident (the Darwinian equivalent of slow, fat gazelles) at the expense of the industrious and prudent.
In nature, losers face extinction. In socialism, winners face extinction.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at June 6, 2009 7:28 PM
Brandon, it doesn't matter whether the US has engaged in socialism before. We know it did, especially during the Great Depression, and we know it fails every time it's tried.
We also know that what Dear Leader is doing now, though there may be precedent, is bad policy and contrary to the rule of law. (e.g. negating legal contracts between creditors and enterprises.) We also know that every time government expands its power, individuals lose their freedom.
And we have a right to criticize Dear Leader for his policies (at least for now anyway.) As one of your progressive heroes put it, "We are Americans, and we have a right to disagree with this administration or with any administration."
You may not like it, you may prefer a progressive-socialist dictatorship where the nanny state makes all your choices for you. We do not. And well fight against it every step of the way.
Posted by: V the K at June 7, 2009 5:00 AM
Yes, I think Ayn Rand described it well.
But we have many elements of socialism in our country.
Government owned or operated police, military, public defenders, fire departments, libraries, water treatment as well as subsidized farming.
We don't let the market go completely free, we have environmental, antitrust and intellectual property laws, as well as corporate law.
This is not a full free market, but it is nowhere near full socialism IMO. When the law is changed in small ways, conservatives call it socialism and start hyperventilating. But we are a country that is no where near accepting price regulation of products or production quotas or government controlled wages.
Posted by: Brandon at June 7, 2009 8:35 AM
So, having police and fire departments is equal to the government running the banking industry, the health care industry, the auto industry, and the energy industry.
And we're supposed to sit back and do nothing while government expands, because "Hey, they run the post office."
Just when I think liberal "logic" can't get any stupider...
Posted by: V the K at June 7, 2009 10:06 AM
we are a country that is no where near accepting price regulation of products or production quotas or government controlled wages.
Except in the banking sector, where Barney Frank is already setting compensation caps; which he also thinks should apply to all industries. And then there's the liberal concept of "comparable worth" where government bureaucrats will set wage levels supposedly to address discrimination.
Oh, and except under Democrat-run mortgage schemes, where banks under threat of lawsuit are forced to loan money to political favored groups who are otherwise uncreditworthy.
Posted by: V the K at June 7, 2009 10:13 AM
V the K, you aren't looking at my logic, your choosing to interpret my words in a way that doesn't make sense. Instead of trying to understand what I mean, you're trying to see how my words can be interpreted in a way that makes me look dumb. This is exactly how idiots on both sides pick and choose the facts to make them say what they want.
Show me, how does the government run the health care industry? The energy industry? Even the banking industry? I admit that the government getting entangled with several car manufacturers is worrying, but you're exaggerating what has happened and what is politicaly sustainable.
