Obama's War on Watchdogs Escalates
Inspector Generals ought to apply for a slot on the endangered species list. In addition to the illegal firing of Gerald Walpin for looking into the corruption of Obama supporter Kevin Johnson, acting International Trade Commission IG Judith Gwynne is also getting canned, after having presumably incriminating documents taken from her by force. Neil Barofsky may be the next to go:
He was appointed with fanfare as the public watchdog over the government's multi-billion dollar bailout of the nation's financial system. But now Neil Barofsky is embroiled in a dispute with the Obama administration that delayed one recent inquiry and sparked questions about his ability to freely investigate.
The disagreement stems from a claim by the Treasury Department that Barofsky is not entirely independent of the agency he is assigned to examine — a claim that has prompted a stern letter from a Republican senator warning that agency officials are encroaching on the integrity of an office created to protect taxpayers.
It's not helping Barofsky's job security that he appears to take his watchdog role much more seriously than Comrade Obama's lackeys in the media do.
Hot Air comments:
The sudden push to rid the government of independent watchdogs appears to coincide with Barack Obama's plans to use government spending to get control over more aspects of American life, such as with stimulus spending, the financial sector, and volunteer organizations.
America is getting Change, all right.

On a tip from Gregory of Yardale.

Note how the Obama Regime, borrowing from the playbook of the old Soviet Union, smeared Walpin as suffering from mental illness as they removed him from his post.

Crossing paths with a liberal is a sure path to making a conservative.

So this week he is the greatest President since Nixon ?

Gregory is correct, next thing is folks being dragged away from Tea Parties as "brigands."
Maybe we need a new Czar (excuse me, I mean Kommisar) of watch dogs.

Did anyone else notice that Maya Soetero-Ng is also on the list. She is Obama's sister, and her biography reads like a liberal's wet dream. BTW, there are at least eight confirmed CFR members on the list. And let's not forget John Berry (also on the list), the man Obama picked to lead the Office of Personnel and Management. I suspect that this appointment was intended to placate the gay community (Mr. Berry is openly gay). But maybe his previous job (director of the National Zoo) makes him well-qualified to run one of Washington's biggest bureaucracies?

totally agree with the GoY. Very Soviet in style and tone, smearing independent watchdogs as mentally ill after capriciously firing them. Leftists are getting the state they wanted, but is this really what they want?

Can no one begin the impeachment with such glaring evidence?

Those watchdogs just haven't figured out the way things work. An understandable problem this early in the "change". They obviously need to keep being corrected until it sinks in to them WHAT they're supposed to be watching, and what NOT.

The crafted Orwellian smear of Walpin's alleged mental illness as a ruse to get rid of him while he was hot on the trail of Obama's thuggish associates uncannily echoes back to the Soviet Union’s imprisonment of political dissidents in lunatic asylums. Obama's goons have borrowed from the Commies' playbook and from that of a certain country that formerly used to be known as "Great Britian":
"a refined version of a form of gutter politics that uses medical accusations to serve political ends" http://theonlinecitizen.com/2008/06/callous-labelling-of-mental-illness-smacks-of-gutter-politics/
http://theonlinecitizen.com/2008/06/callous-labelling-of-mental-illness-smacks-of-gutter-politics/
"The implications of this incident are extremely serious, as they suggest that anyone who dares to criticise the Home Secretary, or perhaps even the government itself, will be regarded as mentally ill." http://www.infowars.com/government-critics-to-be-sent-to-mental-asylums/
It is obvious to anyone with half a brain who watched him on the Glen Beck show that Walpin, recipient of the American Inns of Court Professionalism Award in the Second Circuit and named in all editions of the published compilation of The Best Lawyers in America, is highly lucid and far more intelligent than the collective total of our country's leadership... no repetive uhhs, duhhs, and ahhs, like Dear Leader's every utterance ... no constant gaffe's like Plugs, and doesn't even need a teleprompter to boot. http://www.glenbeck.com/ Add to Walpin's forthcoming Whistlblower suit a claim for age discrimination. Givem' Hell Gerald!!

LOL! This pic of a bulldog reminds me of the bulldog Spike in the old MGM cartoons. He sounded like Jimmy Durante when he talked, and had a son named Tyke!

Are we a nation of laws or not?
These inspectors do not serve at the pleasure of the POTUS.
Who is going to enforce the law? Put those people back in their offices and post an armed guard outside the door.

Okay the government is out of control. We know that but what are you doing about it? Were I am locally and to my colleagues through out the land, is this letter being circulated to send to their Senators. The first two paragraphs are generic so feel free to cut and paste, so here it is:
June 18, 2009
Dear Senator Martinez,
Dear Senator Nelson,
As one of your constituents, I urge you to oppose the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 or any other “hate crime” legislation. I understand that this bill will likely bypass normal committee hearings and be attached as an amendment to another “must pass” bill. No matter what legislation this bill is attached to, I urge you to vote against it.
This legislation would violate the 14th Amendment by denying equal protection under the law for all citizens by creating a special class of individuals treating the rest of us as second-class citizens. This law will also be used to persecute pastors and people of faith for their deeply held religious beliefs violating the 1st Amendment. I ask that you let me know how you will respond to this legislation.
I stay involved and encourage the flock to do the same. I know some of your constituents that will never contact you personally, half of which have never voted and I am working on that, the working poor that feel the divide widening between them and the system. If I could just report back to them that our Senators are making a stand for freedom rather than legislating another link in the chain of oppressive government. Please gentlemen, fight the good fight and may our Lord be with you,
Sincerely,

The funniest thing about this, is that Obama broke a law that he himself co-wrote!

Speaking from Australia and with some recollections of penalties for whistleblowers, it was not uncommon in police circles to dismiss a whistleblower with vague hints that he was round the twist, ready to suicide, a danger to himself, in need of therapy and so on. If he threatened to keep fighting it was made clear to him that this embarassing accusation would be made.
It is despicable, and my sympathy goes to Mr. Walpin. To finish his career like this, with a smear is terrible. But for those who pulled this stunt - they are unspeakable - and must be publicly named. This is the only defence for others. Not much, but something.

Chutzpah: Obama lawyers call firing watchdog "an act of political courage!".
Similarly, surrender to Islam-Fascism will be called a military victory, and record deficits are fiscally responsible.

Haven't we all seen or at least read about this same kind of thing happening about 80 years ago in Europe? Say around 1933 or something like that?

The second part already happened.
Graf 10: This is a test of whether we -- Democrats and Republicans alike -- are serious about holding the line on new spending and restoring fiscal discipline.

The slide into a communist dictatorship has begun.
It began with grand sounding rhetoric and an expressed purpose to help the "downtrodden masses".
Comrade Obama with his slick, car salesman way of speaking will make it sound downright warm and fuzzy.
It will be a dictatorship none the less. The public face may be pleasant (hey, Joe Stalin looked like a kind old Grampa) but behing closed doors it will be every bit as viscious and intollerant of opposition as any twentieth century communist dictator was.
