Obama's Mentor Denounces "Them Jews"
Comrade Obama's spiritual mentor for two decades, the father figure BHO said he could no more disown than he could disown the black community that he serves at the expense of everyone else — the wise man best known for flailing his arm around behind the pulpit at a blasphemous parody of a church while screaming "God damn America!" — explains why his protégé hasn't spoken to him since he was thrown under the bus last year for the sake of political expediency:
In a racially charged interview, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright said that President Obama hasn't spoken to him since they parted ways last year, because "them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me."
Wright spews the race-based hatred Obama has been stewing in his whole life not just at America, but at Israel. It must be very reassuring to him that "them Jews" are going to get the shaft in favor of Islamic terrorists from now until this nightmare is over.
On a tip from mega.

This is stretching my memory way, way back, but didn't D'Amato lose an election to Schumer because Al called Upchuck a "Putzhead?" Certain corners were howling in outrage over such an anti-semitic slur.
It never fails to make me sigh, thinking how zero's detestible choice in companions and associates didn't resonate with 52% of the electorate.

A shining example of a compassionate, spiritual man anyone would be proud to call "mentor."

Can someone explain to me why in the circumstances so many Jews support Obama? For that matter, why so many go in for left-wing politics? I just don't get it.

Jay - As night follows day, so doeth Jews vote Democrat. Historically, about 75% of them do, no matter what (Obama got 78% of their vote).
On the bright side, this fact demonstrates the utter futility/stupidity of Republicans trying to play group politics or moving left to win votes. Elections are won by how about 5% of those who vote, meaning about 2% of all those eligible to vote, vote. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/01/obama_got_75_of_jewish_vote.html

Historically, Catholics voted Democrat too. This was before a very slow realisation that the Dems had changed from a working class party to a party obsessed with situational ethics, and essentially knee jerk slogans about tolerance and peace.
It is changing, glacially.
But I can't fathom a 75% Jewish turnout.
Could any Jewish voter let us have an opinion on this?

I heard this on Glen Beck's radio show. A caller tried to justify "the REVREND'S" (SPIT!) words by saying that Hopey McChange's handlers ARE Jewish.
But is that the point? WHO CARES what their religion might be? Except for ethnic-obsessed Liberals and bigots, I mean. Wright could just as easily said "them guys", but he's the REVREND Wright (SPIT!) after all, and can get away with just about anything!

It comes up every 2 years, and all I can figure it's generational, Jay. "Great granddad voted for Dems only" and so that's it. Even though FDR turned the ship back (a hug disgrace on our country.)
I'm not Jewish, so I can't say. What I can say is my first husband was an immigrant from an Arabic country, proud to be a legal citizen, and he alway votes R because he knows they're the ones would would let him live the American Dream.

As I guess a or maybe the resident conservative Jew here, here's the short answer.
It's largely a generational/cultural thing. People tend to vote the party that their parents, neighbors and friends do. That's as true for a NY Jew as a rancher from Wyoming.
It's also a history and spirit of collectivism, in all its facets: collective organizing at work (unions), for politics (civil rights marches, etc.). This has been a tremendous source of Jewish viability/survival over the centuriesWhen there's 12 million of you and a few billion who want to kill you, instinctively operating collectively can be very helpful. However, it has left many Jews hopelessly landlocked in do-gooderism. Jews are hardly alone in being so inclined.
But the answer with the most depth is that Jews feel safe in the surround-sound environment of hate-crimes legislation, protected-status groups, legal activism designed to protect group A or restrain group B, "tolerance" in the leftist sense, and so on, even if most of this stuff has gone sour over the decades as all the unintended consequences have kicked in. The motives were good (as they always are, with liberals).
Keep in mind, especially a few here who might be on that thin line between having a curious question about Jewish voting behavior versus kinda not diggin' Jews too much, that 75 % is not 100 %. 25 % of Jews are hard-core Republicans. Only 28-30 % of the population at large is, in 2009. The numbers are roughly comparable. Also, do avail yourselves the opportunity to make a trip over to Atlas Shrugged (http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/) where there is no confusion about what collectivism and the Democrats mean for Jews. A few hours of reading over there will put this in a whole new light.
And by the way, nothing, and I mean nothing, is as frustrating as being a conservative Jew in today's world, watching the left-Moslem alliance sweep over the planet like some awful plague in The Ten Commandments, with your own people so oblivious to it, or actively helping to make it happen. Seeing Jews supporting Obama as he schemes and plots to trade Israel for various unworthy political objectives, is not easy to take.

In related news, James von Brunn has accused Rev. Wright of plagiarising his writings in sermons at Trinity.
Then, to the astonishment of the world, Chancellor Adolph Hitler, who emphasized genetics and the homogeneity of the Aryan race, led Ger-many to an amazing spiritual and economic recovery. How-ever, JEWS consider nationalism, racial pride, and family, threats to their “Chosen” status; that is, their “right” to
embed themselves among their cattle and suck their vital juices undetected.

Thank you, Mega, for your insight.
I meant "huge" up there, not "hug." Doh!

Thanks, mega. I'm in a curious position, because I like Israelis, of whom I've known a considerable number, but find a good fraction of American Jews incredibly irritating, because they're so left-wing. From the Rosenbergs to Mark Rudd, Bernadine Dohrn, and now Susie Benjamin and George Soros, it seems as though every American extremist left-wing group is heavily Jewish, far out of proportion to their incidence in the population. That pattern transcends the civil rights/tolerance explanation, and is the part I don't get.
By contrast, the Israelis have seen the elephant, and are grownup, and pretty hard-nosed about the threats they face. In this respect they're the exact antithesis of left-wing American Jews, who live in la-la land. The odd part is seeing American Jews in the Bay Area protesting against Israel in support of Palestinians. That must irritate Israelis as much as it does me.

Jay, yes, my fellow Jews protesting on behalf of the people who want to annihilate them is infuriating. There is no easy answer for how something so demented can have come to transpire. I could write 100 pages on my theory about it, but basically it's really tiring to have annhilationist psycho-murderers on your trail for 1,400 years, and it separates you into two groups - those who want to fight, and those are willing to do anything to get out of the gunsights. In a way, it's a form of Stockholm syndrome. So much abuse, for so long, from the same crazed people, has led many Jews to empathize with their tormentors. Needless to say, that syndrome is also playing out among non-Jewish, Christian westerners, who've only had to deal with it for, say, eight years rather than 2,000. Many Jews do not have that syndrome, but we conservative-oriented Jews are ostracized, not only by our own Left, but by all of Europe, and now the US, and the entire Middle East. I guess Pilau might be a friend. So as a Jew you kind of have two choices. Be in a perpetual defensive crouch, or start to feel responsible for and become empathetic to the demands and beliefs of the enemy, the enemy being an ever-larger moving target that can't really be defeated. The middle option of ignoring it all and just fitting in sort of works and is a good description of my life, except for the part about nuclear bombs falling on Israel and the coming near annihilation of our people, or the Hizbullah rallies at UC colleges, or the gang beatings of Jews across Europe, or the bitter, brutal Jew-hatred swamping the Internet, or or or.... That this pressure cooker has not produced even more aberrant behavior than confused lefty Jews marching for Hamas should be worthy of a bit of tolerance. But yes, I would like to kick the asses of the people who do that.
As far as George Soros and all that, there are a handful of him, a few thousand Media Benjamin types, and then 12 million or so very hard-working upper middle-class people who perform surgery, do root canals, try to keep clients out of jail, get peoples' taxes in order, and keep our culture stocked with movies, comedians, and musicians.

Mega, thanks, that helps. I've been baffled by this for the longest time. It must be especially infuriating to be lumped in with the leftists!
