I assume there is a Zimbabwean chapter of ACORN that will be putting that $73M to good use.

How would you possibly send $73 million to Zimbabwe and not have it go to the government? Please explain. Anything that goes into that country goes to the government: aid, relief food shipments, medical aid, mercy packages, any money from any source, etc. They take it all and give it to whom they please. Just exactly what mechanism would it be possible to use so that the government would not get it?

Where are the conservative fact checkers and smear police on this one?

In Zimbabwe, if you have any influence, title, property, or can do anything about anything there are two possiblilities: you are Mugabe's friend or you are dead.

I don't think our liberal friends have thought much about what happens when you extrapolate the line on which Obama is progressing. It does not lead to glory, wealth, happiness, and freedom for all. Take a very good look at Zimbabwe, it is our future!!

snowsnake, you should check out Morgan Tsvangirai- he's been arrested a number of times, tortured, faced assassination attempts, his body guard was killed, all by Mugabe's thugs. Also his wife died and his grandson drowned under suspicious circumstances.

Well I hope the CIA has a better idea about Zimbabwe's internal politics than any of us do. While I know there is no faith in Obama here, I also expect Obama to consult with the CIA before handing money over to anyone over there.

The CIA will probably tell him that Mugabe has weapons of mass destruction (that CIA?), and maybe Obama will invade Zimbabwe. Obama has spent his whole career ranting against the military and CIA. I think it would be reasonable to expect some of the small cogs far down in the bowls of the machine, who maybe can remember a little bit further back then yesterday, to sort of shade things as they pass information up the line. Eventually, as each person with a little bit of a pissed-off feeling adds and colors a little, the picture is not at all what the truth was--if anybody ever knew it. Thus, somebody passing gas in a crowd ends up being reported as somebody stockpiling poisonous gas and experimenting on humans. I always imagine these lower level CIA guys holding their sides and rolling on the floor kicking their heels as they scream in laughter and unbearable glee when the worthless politicians, whom they loathe and despise, buy into this crap and act on it.
