Missile Fired at Passenger Jet?

Here's a story that is generating even less interest than a Muslim convert's murder of Private William Long:

Liberty County Sheriff's officials are expected to meet with the FAA on Tuesday to discuss what a Continental Express pilot reported as a "missile or rocket" flying near his airplane.
A pilot reported to the Federal Aviation Administration that at about 8:15 p.m. Friday, an object passed within 150 feet beneath the aircraft, sheriff's officials said.
The aircraft was near the southern edge of the county, flying at about 13,000 feet, officials said.
"The pilot, from what we understand, was former military. He was able to get the coordinates down real quick," said Cpl. Hugh Bishop with the Liberty County Sheriff's Department.

It took the Houston Comical three days to barely mention the story. Hardly anyone else has picked it up. Maybe if there had been an abortionist on board, it would have occurred to someone in the media that a missile fired at a passenger jet on US territory is worth looking into.

On a tip from Viking04.

Hmmm... Sounds like the usual M.O. of Al Quieda/radical islam/moooslum types, so better keep it hush-hush in case it is. because IF it is, we wouldn't want anyone associating missiles fired at aeroplanes with Al Quieda/radical islam/moooslum types, would we?

No way, Jose.

No, wait.. was that racist?

13,000 ft is probably right at the edge of the envelope for a Stinger or a Soviet SA-7 type weapon.....could be.

Lots of pieces that don't quite fit. Fox News showed the A/C as an Embraer 145 regional jet. Odd place to try this; odd choice of target, too. At the limits of the range like that, I'm surprised no one saw it detonate.

Who knows? It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

All this airplane stuff over the last couple of days makes me noivus. Next month I've flying over 2500 miles of ocean then catching a Continental Express out of Houston.

In the comments to the story, a reader asked (paraphrased) "...why is the local sheriff's department investigating rather than the Feds?"

Good question!

Ah... Not to Worry! Obama the Great God Almighty is watching over us! ...Oh... Wait... I'm just a "typical white person." The liberal's little brown god doesn't care about me - only my money.

Drudge says another Air France plane was cleared of a bomb threat in Buenos Aires a few days before the current one disappeared:

You know, Putin's mind works like Don Corleone's mind. I'm sure he figures the Russians owe us one for Afghanistan. The USSR was going to fall without any help from us. He was the head of the KGB, he knew.
But those Stinger missiles though, Putin surely feels the need for some payback for those. Nothing personal you understand, its just business!
We have Clarabelle the Clown leading us and the mooselimbs have Don Corleone controlling them!

"The USSR was going to fall without any help from us. He was the head of the KGB, he knew."

You're partly right......

Yes, eventually Communism always fails. It's a flawed system that can't survive. But for the Evil Empire to fail when it did, and as spectacularly, required quite a bit of help from us.

As for "Don Corleone / Vlad the Impaler" Putin comtrolling the Muzzies, I seriously doubt it. In the short term, he's helping them in some areas, to be sure - but in the long term they are a threat to him as well.
