Lodgers at San Quentin Recreation Center Don't Want to Leave

If Comrade Obama is ever forced by his own sanctimonious rhetoric to really close Club Gitmo, the terrorists vacationing there are unlikely to be happier with their new accommodations — unless they're simply let go. The same goes for San Quentin State Prison, which sits on such valuable waterfront land a few minutes away from the Golden Gate Bridge that officials could turn a $1 billion profit by selling it and building a new prison elsewhere. Prisoners — the worst of the worst, just like at Gitmo — are aghast at the idea:

"Some places you go for punishment," said inmate John Taylor, a catcher for the prison baseball team, the San Quentin Giants [and a convicted murderer]. "Here, it's more rehabilitation. I just don't know why the governor would want to shut us down."

The killers and maniacs at San Quentin benefit from nearby San Francisco, with its legions of sympathetic do-gooders.

Prison volunteers come from around the Bay Area and include professional artists, graduate students and professors at nearby universities, including the University of California at Berkeley and San Francisco State University. Others are retirees. Most are experienced teachers in their field.

The programs that make life richly fulfilling for the convicts too dangerous to keep at other prisons rely heavily on these volunteers and proximity to the universities that spawn them.

The programs include a Shakespearean drama program, football, baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis teams, and the Prison University Project, which offers inmates classroom instruction that leads to associate's degrees.

All that's at risk if prison moves. Besides, the guards don't want to move either, and they've got a powerful union. So California will probably be left to raise money the new-fangled way: a strings-attached bailout from Chairman Zero, courtesy of federal taxpayers.

I think you mean recreation center, not reaction center.

poll show that 62% of those survied oppose closing GITMO but knowing how liberal moonbats ignore the public they will do it none the less SO LETS SEND OBAMA AND THE MOONBATS TO GITMO FOR LIFE OR EVEN LONGER

Don't bet on them moving. Pelousy and acorn can't afford to lose the 5,256 'regestered' voters, as well as their 1,718 'babysitters'. Not to mention the $210 million annual income. (numbers courtesy of Wiki)

Gregory, thanks. Typo fixed.

Why is it that progressives are more concerned for the rights of criminals and terrorists than those of their victims, more protective of the guilty than of the innocent; why do they try to justify the killing of innocent unborn babies, but not convicted adult murderers, why do they worry so over the care and comfort of terrorists, but not of unborn babies being sucked out of a womb by an abortionist? Why do they resent the gap between God and Man? Could it be the same reason they give Clinton and now gives Obama such approval ratings: they instinctively sympathize with those who most resemble themselves or how they view themselves, i.e., those who are willing to deceive, lie, expropriate money from others, accept murder as birth control, perceive injustices which exist in their minds only, desire to control the lives of others, or because they want to destroy all that exists for the sake of destroying it, but they do not sympathize with those who are the most unlike themselves, i.e., the innocent. What leads to this mental disorder, where wrong is right and right is wrong?

Apparently, the more sinful the object of progressives’ idolatry, the higher its approval rating soars. At least that explanation puts clarity to the issue. The culture war can be summarized by comparing two opposite icons: Madonna and the Madonna. (Notice how crucial a word “the” is: It is the difference between a slut and a saint.)

GITMO would be a good place to send OBAMA and BILL AYERS for the rest of their miserble lives

Close it down and move them all to that Sheriff Joe guy's place in Arizona with the tent jail and pink jumpsuits in 110 degree sun.

San Quentin might be the best place afterall for the charming refugees to go when B. Hussein Obama closes Club Gitmo. Surely some moonbats from nearby San Francisco would gladly help "rehabilitate" them with some fisting. The MSM or Pelousy wouldn't dare consider that to be torture ... or would they Ghost of Wellstone/Brandon?
