Did anyone notice when Letterpuke mentioned that Sarah Palin and her daugter were visiting New York, there was polite applause for about ten seconds, but when he let the A-Rod joke fly, there was laughter and applause for a good thirty seconds? That says something about the intellect of his audience.

I doubt if Letterman will apoligize, no matter how much CBS get flooded with phone calls or emails. I doubt he cares how much he offended the Palin family. This is his leftist agenda....(fill in name of conservative politician here) "is in town, so let's roll out the cruel jokes at his/her expense." Maybe, just maybe if a couple of sponsors say "so long, Lettepuke" then, and only then, will he realize the error of his ways and by that time any sort of apology will be meaningless.

My brother was in the same HS class with Letterman, and the same class up at Ball State. Letterman seems to think that because he outgrew his cornfield upbringing that somehow he should adopt the lefty ideology of those he's found himself among. Yeah, he used to be funny on his own, but he's cut himself off. It's sad. He was big enough to overcome some pretty big roots, only to find himself small enough to occupy his space. I've lost interest in him.

being the same age as letterman, I grew up watching Bob Hope, Red Skelton make classy style jokes about politicians. Not this case. He really thinks Palin jokes will increase ratings. He crossed the line with me and lost another viewer. My condolence to his great band.

Indeed. While I haven't seen Leno enough to know what he's like, I could never see Conan making such a repulsive comment. Conan is a very funny guy who makes good natured jokes about politicians on both sides (Though he usually sticks more to making fun of Hollywood celebs), but he seems to have enough class to know what crosses the boundary of good taste. Hence why he's currently considered the funniest of the late- night hosts, and Letterman is the same obnoxious, unwatchable jackass he's always been, but now seems to be trying to find new ways to reveal how crass he is.
