John Ziegler Gets the Better of Contessa Brewer

Surprise: MSNBC sides with the vile David Letterman in the wake of his vicious and tasteless attacks on Sarah Palin and her 14-year-old daughter. They brought on John Ziegler so that Contessa Sewer could club him over the head with her odious views. As it turned out, Ziegler did the clubbing:

Somehow I doubt he'll be invited back. Incredibly, I'm told there are people old enough to shave who get their news from MSNBC.

On a tip from Rich.

"Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment"

"Threats from white supremacist and violent antigovernment groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts. Nevertheless, the consequences of a prolonged economic downturn--including real estate foreclosures, unemployment, and an inability to obtain credit--could create a fertile recruiting environment for rightwing extremists and even result in confrontations between such groups and government authorities similar to those in the past."

April 14, 2009: Former Speaker Newt Gingrich:
The person who drafted the outrageous homeland security memo smearing veterans and conservatives should be fired

April 14, 2009: Conservative commentator Sean Hannity intentionally misrepresents the focus of the assessment as targetting "people who have pro-life bumper stickers."

April 14, 2009: Conservative commentator Michelle Malkin:
The "report" ... was one of the most embarrassingly shoddy pieces of propaganda I'd ever read out of DHS. I couldn't believe it was real. By contrast, the piece of crap report issued on April 7 is a sweeping indictment of conservatives.

USA TODAY 7/29/2008
The man accused of shooting and killing two people in a Knoxville church Sunday wrote that he hated liberals and was bitter he couldn't find a job, police said Monday.

April 4, 2009 PITTSBURGH — A gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and "lying in wait" opened fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday, killing three of them and turning a quiet Pittsburgh street into a battlefield, police said.
Police Chief Nate Harper said the motive for the shooting isn't clear, but friends said the gunman recently had been upset about losing his job and feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

May 31, 2009: Dr. George Tiller, a frequent target of right-wing hate and violence for performing late-term abortions, was murdered.  The suspect apprehended is a right-wing extremist with a long history of violent rhetoric and criminal actions on behalf of the right-wing anti-choice movement.

June 10, 2009: A lone gunman opened fire at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, killing a security guard and injuring others.  The suspected shooter is a right-wing extremist with a long history of violent rhetoric and criminal actions on behalf of the right-wing white supremacist and Holocaust denier movements.

Well done IT.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at June 10, 2009 6:21 PM

Of course, the lone gunman was a raging racist and antisemitic, something pretty much exclusively a lefty thing in the US and worldwide.
Funny how when bad things happen, you lefties always blame the right. Shit, I remember when Ted Kazinski's rambling green manifesto was spoken of as right wing by the media. You guys are pathetic.

Posted by: baboy at June 10, 2009 6:55 PM

Way to stay on subject, Inconvenient Idiot.

Posted by: Jimbo at June 10, 2009 7:15 PM

So that's four over a period of what, damn near a year! Got any more, or have ya shot yer load there? Yeah we have a couple that claim to be among us that do dumb things once in a while, meanwhile, here's an entire website that shows us multiple dumb things daily by moonbats! Conveniently available, too!

Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at June 10, 2009 8:04 PM

And what have we had take place in the last year Mr. Evilwrench? An election in which we saw the first African-American President elected, and the right-wing go a flutter over it. This site,Fox,talk radio et al. It is you guys stirring the pot. Who was the last lefty to go hunt down anyone? Oswald? This guy today was obsessed over President Obama's birth certificate, something I have seen discussed here, but neither he or any of you go to factcheck.org to see they are non-partisan, and have done extensive work on it.Then you have Limbaugh say things like Obama is worse than Al Qaeda, O'Reilly with "Tiller the Baby Killer", Beck comparing Liberals to the Germans before the rise of Hitler, etc. With this nonsense, what do you think is going to happen? Furthermore, all of you are whining about the Second Amendment, are you out of your Goddamn minds?Under the Democrats the gun laws are becoming looser.

On topic, Zeigler was a twit with Contessa Brewer. He had a chance to make his case and repeatedly threw insults.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at June 10, 2009 8:24 PM

Contessa's bias was exposed early on in the interview when she characterized Palin as "having her feelings hurt." I think the proper description of the emotion behind Palin's statement would be "disdain". But then Brewer shows how truly out of touch she is by comparing Letterman's filthy innuendos on national TV, not just about Sarah, but about her 14-year-old daughter, with some obscure episode where some undisclosed person supposedly called slutty and yet she "is still here." Chicky, Sarah is still here, too, and I'll bet Letterman would poop his pants if he had to meet her face to face after his stupid bit about her and her daughter. Besides, I'd be willing to bet most people don't even know who Contessa is, let alone that some anonymous person called her "slutty"

RE: Posted by: Inconvenient Truths at June 10, 2009 6:05 PM

You see these guys as "Right Wingers?" Why, exactly?

Today's shooter was actually as far to the freakin' LEFT as you can get..... he was even an anti-Bush 9/11 Truther, ex-con racist Holocaust denier.

As for Tiller's killer, here you have another loon that'd normally be a poster boy for the ACLU (he was released because of supposedly illegally obtained evidence) and who was closer politically to fellow bomb-makers Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.

Speaking of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, killing cops is also a Lefty thing. Pittsburg shooter Richard Poplawski was a neo-Nazi white supremacist that believed in Zionist conspiracies and was kicked out of the military.....not exactly a "right winger". The whole thing started out as a domestic dispute and escalated out of control.

As for the Knoxville shooter, there are a lot of people that don't particularly like Liberals. If that were the only thing that motivated him, you would expect to see a lot more of this sort of behavior......but you don't. His failed marriage likely had more to do with it - and that was his ex-wife's church.

Also, all four of these characters had things in thier record that would bar them from purchasing / owning firearms - so much for that two inch thick book of gun laws the BATFE sends me every year.

RE: Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at June 10, 2009 8:24 PM

"Furthermore, all of you are whining about the Second Amendment, are you out of your Goddamn minds?Under the Democrats the gun laws are becoming looser."

As someone who actually holds a license from the BATFE, I have absolutely no freakin' idea WHAT you mean by that statement.....?

ALSO - you say, "Who was the last lefty to go hunt down anyone? Oswald?"

I know I already mentioned Leftist bombers Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn......others mentioned uber-lefty Unabomber Ted Kaczynski....there's more.

BTW, you copying all this down? Make sure you get my "TonyD95B" identifier right in your "report", Welly! Tell your handlers they can E-mail me if they want some feedback on your performance, 'kay?

One in the same. kidneystone patting himself on the back for being a fool.

Liberals are delusional that way.

Posted by: Jimbo at June 10, 2009 9:33 PM

BTW, where's our usual helping of Lame Letterman-Like Loopy, Loony, Lying, Lobotomized Lemming-Like Leftist Liberal Loser ™ faux outrage over, "Cut The Mic!"?

Funny how it's an issue when it's Glenn Beck's talk show, but not when it's a supposed "interview" on MSNBC.

Contentious Brewer is obviously NOT the sharpest knife in the drawer.....how many times / ways can John Ziegler say that it's impolite to call someone "slutty" on national TV and insult thier family?

Either she is really, really dense, or she's brainwashed, or she's a "self-loathing female" (wonder where I got THAT expression!)or John Ziegler just freakin' OWNED her....or maybe it's all four.

Posted by: TonyD95B at June 10, 2009 9:37 PM

ALSO - speaking of TV networks nobody watches, I wonder what the whack jobs at SNL are gonna do with the Letterman / Palin thing?

You know Tina Fey is just dyin' to make fun of Governor Palin again, don'tcha know?

Posted by: TonyD95B at June 10, 2009 9:41 PM

Ha! Ziegler owned Brewer? For one thing, like The Glen Beck Show...it's his show, much like it is Contessa's show. He immediately started taking shots at her before she even got a question out. When asked to come on, he should of declined.Zeigler's fantasy world is that MSNBC got Obama elected, yet has ranted about how bad their ratings are, I see a contradiction there. Oh, and by the way, Letterman defended himself tonight, and on the other thread I stated he likely did not know which daughter it was, and I was correct. He was referencing Bristol, who did get knocked up, and is 18.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at June 10, 2009 9:51 PM

RE: Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at June 10, 2009 9:51 PM

Welly, I don't care WHICH daughter he thought it was......it was in very bad taste and Letterman is a smarmy jack#ss.

As for John Z "owning" Brewer, yep - like it or not, he took the interview away from her, plugged his website, repeated his central point at least three times, and pretty much left her flustered and yelling to "Cut the Mic!"....and he did it without being all that impolite, either.

Make sure you quote me correctly in your report!

Changing the subject AGAIN, huh, Welldrip?

You've ruined it for yourself - you've admitted to being a sick son-of-a-bitch. 14, 18 - hey that's four WHOLE years, huh? That makes it OKAY with you, huh?

Trying to act ‘facetiously’ innocent now? It won’t work, dipshit.

Your words are forever embedded in blog-history.

"The Alaskan governor was there for a baseball game and to be honoured by a special needs group, accompanied by Willow, 14."

"One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game," Letterman then quipped on-air.

"During the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

I think its clear whom Letterman is referring to.

Posted by: General at June 11, 2009 2:34 AM

The problem with Wellstone's spin is that Bristol didn't go to the baseball game, Willow did.

Oh, and by the way, Letterman defended himself tonight, and on the other thread I stated he likely did not know which daughter it was, and I was correct. He was referencing Bristol, who did get knocked up, and is 18.

Now remember, folks, Ghost of Flintstone actually claimed he admires Bristol. Which is apparently why he thinks it's OK to make sneering jokes about her.

"Let me be as clear as possible. I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president." -Barack Obama, 9/2/2008

Posted by: Evil Otto at June 11, 2009 4:13 AM

Could I also add what an incredibly stupid premise Contessa Brewer's question is based on? It's based on a poll that shows the public doesn't know who speaks for the Republican Party. Well, duh... the Republican Party is completely out of power (and rightfully so given their fecklessness and incompetence). There is no clear leadership because there are no Republicans at any significant level of national power. Who was speaking for the Democrats in 2005? They had no clear leadership then. In 2006, Nancy Pelosi became the voice of the Social-Democrats, and then Barack Obama.

"Oh, and by the way, Letterman defended himself tonight, and on the other thread I stated he likely did not know which daughter it was, and I was correct. He was referencing Bristol, who did get knocked up, and is 18"

He was aware she took a daughter to a baseball game but didn't know which one it was. And still didn't know later in the week when he made his "joke" about her daughter having sex with Spitzer. And you're buying that. And don't think he's trying to unconvincingly wriggle out of a hole he's realised he's dug himself. You are a blithering fuckwit, even for a leftist.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 11, 2009 4:25 AM

GoW, no way did Brewer own Ziegler. For one thing, she starts off by saying she doesn't understand why Palin would take offense at being called slutty, or at her daughter being ridiculed (and for the record, I think it was even meaner of Letterman to ridicule Bristol, because I'm sure Bristol has a great deal of regret about being engaged in premarital sex with her high school flame, and to brand her with a scarlet letter on public TV is just plain rotten). However, at the end of the interview, she shows great offense at Ziegler's claim that the media is biased. What a ditz! Palin's supposed to laugh off bad jokes at her families expense that are based on nothing more than Letterman's perverted fantasies, but she can't take it that someone would question the objectivity of MSNBC? LOL! Is there anyone outside of MSNBC who doesn't question MSNBC's objectivity?

Posted by: Judith M. at June 11, 2009 4:31 AM

Evil Otto, even given the insincere apology that the CBS suits made Lecherman read on the air, we're still left with a guy who has no problem saying lewd, degrading things about young girls just because their mother happens to be a politician he despises. The left, for all their claims of tolerance and open-mindedness, are once again shown to be crude, hateful bigots. And this includes people like Wellstoned who defend their crude, hateful bigotry.

Yeah, that's pretty much ownage by definition. True- it's her show- but, what we as broadcasters do to keep control of the conversation is to mute mics and phone lines after someone has made their point so we can discuss it. The fact that she let it get so far as to have to call for the producers to cut the mic shows just how defeated she was. She couldn't defend against his statements, and she lost control of the conversation to a guest. That doesn't make her look good at all. Not just to the five-person viewership, but especially to those of us in the business.
MSNBC FAIL.

MSDNC is a joke. Everytime Obama sits down, Chris Matthews gets a broken nose. Keith Olbermann's head is so deep in Obama's a$$, he can lick his tonsils from the backside. When Obama farts, it smells like Rachel Maddow's aftershave.

Posted by: V the K at June 11, 2009 4:55 AM

Judith M,

You are spot on. Beginning of interview:

"Why was Sarah Palin so offended?"

End of interview:

"For you to use those sort of insults, insults me." "Cut his mic."

LOL. With brilliance like this, it's no wonder MSNBC's ratings are in the tank.

Barack Obama is NOT African- American! He is of mixed race, born from a white mother, and has much more Arabic blood than African.
"Lecherman," that's a good one, Gregory! I'll have to remember that!

Posted by: Adam at June 11, 2009 5:38 AM

I know, Gregory. Stoned has made about 50 posts vociferously defending the douchebag letterman. Why in the world is he trying SO HARD to do so? Are they in bed together? I haven't read all 50, who the hell has time for that?

Posted by: Karin at June 11, 2009 5:39 AM

Even if you are stupid enough to believe Letterman's claim that he was talking about Bristol and not Willow: a 62 year old man making obnoxious sexual jibes about an 18 year old girl just to get at her mother. You're fine with that why exactly?

He's a reeeeal winner, this guy.
