Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood Admits to Coercing Us Out of Our Cars
Time to size Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood for a ball gag; he seems to be taking Comrade Obama's bogus promise of transparency seriously. Here he is explaining his totalitarian "livability" initiative:
It is a way to coerce people out of their cars.
"Coerce" — a liberal's favorite verb.
When asked to respond to the observation by conservatives that his livable communities jihad is unreasonably intrusive, LaHood shrugged:
About everything we do around here is government intrusion in people's lives. So have at it.
Just call it the Audacity of Arrogance.

Ray Lahood is a Republican, as some anonymous twerp will probably point out. Let me pre-empt by saying this website is not a partisan propaganda machine like Kos or HuffPo. VH attacks stupidity no matter which side it comes from.

This asshole is unbelievable. 'Coercing' people out of their cars. He sounds exactly like an overpaid car-jacker.

You beat me on the "he's a Republican" line. Sorry I'm not anonymous. And I've called much worse than "Twerp" around here. Just ask ChristmasGhost!
The fact that he's in the Obama adminstration though is enough reason to not dismiss the charge of Van H being a Republican parrot. That said, you've got to have a completely tin ear to miss LaHood's sarcasm. And is that a GREAT name for an Illinois politician, or what?
Uh, Man of Few, Obama might be "looking down his nose" because LaHood makes Obama's dark suit/red tie/white shirt look like something he slept in. It ain't always about you.

Yeah, well, the RINO FLorida governor is about to 'coerce' all smokers to quit or buy tobacco out of state to, get this, raise revenue. Dumbass won't get my vote for his upcoming senate race.

Your "reasoning" is utterly insane.

I second that JoeShmoe. Jeb Bush's son recently endorsed Rubio. I can't stand these RINO's.

They tried doing that in Southern California, particularly Orange County... back in the late 80s-early 90s, using disincentives and government policies related to "planning".
What they did (I'm referring to government agencies, developers, and environmental planners) for a bunch of new development projects was figure out how much parking was needed for the expected traffic, and have the engineers designing the thing to deliberately provide LESS than would be required for everyone to have a parking spot at peak hour. They also provided way more parking for "compact" cars than the percentage of compact cars in the "fleet" (i.e., data traffic engineers had on the % of cars by type & numbers) had in it, hoping to coerce people into replacing their larger vehicles with compact cars due to the inconvenience in parking.
Mind you, this was before the big draw with SUVs.
The reality was, more accidents in parking lots and more annoyed angry people trying to park their big vehicles in smaller spaces because there wasn't enough room in the parking lots.
That being said, the public transportation system in Orange County really sucked big time! I tried for 7 months to live without a car. In order to get from Anaheim to where I worked near the John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa, a total of 14 miles... I had to get to the bus stop no later than 4:15AM, to catch a bus to get me to work for 8:30AM. That included a 1/2 hour nerve-wracking wait at the Santa Ana busport, famous for gang activies and drive by shootings...

If all goes well for the Powell wing of the Republican party, MR LaHood will be their nominee in 2012, and we can officially put a fork in that festering party of assclowns.

As is said to tards like yourself, each and every time you spot a Republican in a Moonbattery post, being a Republican is no guarantee of not being a moonbat. In fact it seems to be becoming less and less of a guarantee.
But don't worry. The regular posters here don't expect idiot contrarian trolls to be able to understand such basic concepts immediately, so we don't mind repeating it over and over again.
