Historic Flag Now Considered "Extremist" by Authorities
Now that the bloated DHS bureaucracy has called off the War on Terror to devote itself to harassing those who might not be on board with Comrade Obama's agenda, you're running a risk if you drive around with this historic flag on your car:

Via RightPundits.com:
Reports out of Ball, Louisiana say that a man was detained by police for driving with a Don't Tread on Me bumper sticker on his vehicle. A roadside background check was run, probably looking for extremist "militia-type" activities in the driver's background.
This time honored flag and its message, Don't Tread on Me, has long symbolized American patriotism. The first official record of the term "Don't Tread on Me" was in 1775. Continental Colonel Christoper Gadsden designed the flag. Now the message that followed the Nation's first Marines into battle is considered an extremist bumper sticker, and "suspected" of sending a subversive message.
Next authorities will investigate the New England Patriots for having a subversive name. Meanwhile, terrorists prepare the next 9/11, blissfully unmolested.
On a tip from Andrea.

Hmmm...I wonder when the members of Metallica be getting their little visit from the SS because of their song "Don't Tread on Me" from their self-titled 1991 album?

I have a big giant flag pole in my front yard and I'm flying one under the stars&stripes on 7/4. Extremist and proud of it.

They are ALL extremist if they aren't RED and have a hammer and sickle on it now...

Can we question their patriotism NOW?

Yesterday I got told repeatedly on this blog that we need to let the "Professionals" at the "Department of Homeland Security" keep us safe.
Even though I am extremely pro-law enforcement, do you really think we can trust Janet Napolitano and the federal Keystone Kop Weenieocracy to keep us safe?
We had all better do the best we can to look out for ourselves - DHS is too busy wasting our tax dollars staking out the local American Legion Post, and taking pictures of the right-wing rabble rouser extremists at the "Tea Parties".

I bought a shotgun (since I suck with a pistol), and I have the "Don't Tread On Me" sticker on the back window, right at eye level. Looking forward to my first arrest.

By the way - has anyone confirmed this story?
I would expect this sort of nonsense fron Janet Napolitano and her henchmen, but I would be very suprised if a small-town police department was to do this (particularly in Dixie).
I was followed by a police officer once and questioned about the Euro-oval shaped ".50BMG" sticker on the back of my Jeep (right next to the red, white and blue AOPA sticker).
He wasn't concerned about me owning or having experience with a .50 BMG - he uses an M-82 Barrett on the regional SWAT team, and wanted to find out what I knew about the big .50 and where I got the cool sticker.
I had an extra, so I gave it to his Chief to forward to him (which he gladly did).
Like I said, I'd be really suprised if this story about the "Don't Tread On Me" sticker is true.

Ordered mine last week, will be displaying it as a flag 'pin'. Of course they have been watching me for years. I have copies of Mein Kampf, and Catcher in the Rye as well, which seem to ring alarms every time I travel on an airplane with them. I'm curious to see if taking a koran in my carry-on will be noticed.

Eric says, "I have copies of Mein Kampf, and Catcher in the Rye as well, which seem to ring alarms every time I travel on an airplane with them. I'm curious to see if taking a koran in my carry-on will be noticed."
Nah, the TSA weenies are too busy making sure the First Officer is not trying to sneak through with nail clippers.

Yes a police incident in a small town. This is DEFINITELY the work of the fed gov. and absolutely a sign that they are spreading their evil will across the country!
As usual you are spot on!

Anonymous......maybe you didn't get Janet Napolitano's memo....?
Posted by: TonyD95B at May 13, 2009 7:05 AM
Oh, of course I did. Its a PLOT!

I can just hear anonymous screaming his innocence to DHS as they drag him/her away for posting on this right-wing-extreamist site.. "No I'm not one of them I was only standing up for the massa!!"
I can't wait to see the look on his/her face when they are thrown in with us at the re-education camp. hehehe.

Eric dreams, no not has nightmares, he dreams and giggles about fascism. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
I say again, you really want to try and take this incident and turn it into evidence of a government plot to silence the right wing?
Posted by: Anonymous at May 13, 2009 11:17 AM
Anon - that and about 1000 other incidents...sure, I'd pluck that chicken.

Right below it I have a patch that says
"dont f--- with me, I f--- back"

Well, I love you too! Maybe the next time we try to form a seperate nation, you'll LET US GO?
PS: Congratulations on your big hunk of fifty cal. iron. I'd love to see a couple of those mounted on every American merchant ship!

KHarn,
My mother was born in West Point, MS and then rasied in Tuscaloosa (Heart Of Dixie!) when my grandfather took a job at the University of Alabama. My late father was from Northeastern PA (not far from NYC) and lived there for five years while working for the Alabama Institute of Aeronautics.
I'm from somewhere "in between"....
My mother's side of the family has been in the New World for about 300 years, and fought in both the Revolution and the War Between The States (on both sides, but mainly for the South)
If current trends continue I may be quite sympathetic to your desire to form a separate nation.....although I hope it will never come to that. America is a great nation BECAUSE of the South, not in spite of it. Most of the leftie Dixie bashers haven't got a clue what the South is really about......even some of the ones that live there.
I agree that mounting a "Ma Duece" or two on merchant ships would be an excellent idea. The nearly century-old .50 BMG round can be effective at well over a mile, and the 'Duece is d#mn reliable.
A Remington 870 or Mossberg 500/590 is a good, reliable low-tech means of repelling the occasional boarder as well.
H#ll, just letting merchant ship officers carry sidearms would go a long way towards ending the pirate problem. It's nearly zero-cost, too - I'll bet that most of them would carry thier own if permitted.
