Wise Words From Beyond the Grave
The more "Change," the more things stay the same. A tombstone from 1890:

Compliments of Viking04.

My God, that is commitment to Truth!
RIP Sir, glad you were not alive to witness what your country just put in power.

can somebody find a picture of the back side of the stone, and see if he predicted anything for 2012?

Liberals are under the delusion that Utopia is possible and they've killed millions trying to prove it

RIP Sir- here's hoping you had children to carry on your convictions.

The gentleman is spinning in his grave as we speak. Which, reminds me of one of my favorite teaparty signs: It's a picture of the founding fathers, with a thought bubble coming out their heads, saying "WTF?!"

Nathaniel Grigsby was a friend and relative (by marriage of Abe Lincoln himself:
Grigsby, Nathaniel (1811-90). Grigsby's family moved from Kentucky to Spencer County, Indiana, just before the Lincolns and were their close neighbors. AL and Nathaniel Grigsby grew up and went to school together, and Grigsby's brother Aaron married AL's sister Sarah. Grigsby remained in touch with AL long after the latter left Indiana. An early Republican and a AL supporter in 1860, Grigsby enlisted with four of his sons in the Tenth Indiana Cavalry in 1863. It is interesting that a party of inconsistent thinkers can remain so consistent.

Noteworthy that a military man of then says the same thing most of us say today.

I've decided that for every time the Dems said, "Bush lied" I'm going to try to say "Bush Kept Us Safe"... "Bush and the US Military Kept us Safe!"
They're going to try to deny it but in contrast, while the truth that he didn't "lie" hasn't stopped their meme, the truth that "Bush Kept Us Safe!" should be easy to establish.

Bertie,
My response is simply this,"Socialists Lie and Millions Die."

Is this genuine?
I don't mean to spoil anything, but the epitaph looks as if it is painted on

Carved monuments often have a contracting color in the carved recesses to enhance legibility. Take a look the next time you are in an older cemetery.

Heather:
I was considering mentioning Snopes' Kool-Aid guzzling of late, but it was more satisfying to find a reference pre-dating the "Wiki-ing" of history. Yes, I just made up a word, but you all understand what I mean.
Posted by: Viking04 at April 25, 2009 5:00 PM
I may put something very similar as my epitaph!

Here's proof that it's real.

From the end of the civil war & emancipation proclamation, the Republicans tried to help the freed slaves in their new lives, and the Democrats painted the Republicans as the 'n*****-loving' party.
The Republicans capitulated and gave up their support of the blacks not long after 1890 (date on the headstone), in order to regain lost political ground, which set back the civil rights movement many decades.
