The Cutting Edge of Ecohypocrisy

Congrats to "The Edge," as U2 guitarist David Evans likes to call himself. Despite his band's reputation for pious moonbat posturing, he is doing something constructive with his fortune by building a seaside housing development in Malibu. His fellow zillionaire ecoweenies are outraged:
Neighbours in Sierra Canyon … have launched a noisy campaign against the development, which they claim will "permanently scar" the landscape.
Evans, a supposed environmentalist, is accused of wanting to flatten the top of a mountain, put a road through slide-prone areas, and move 70,000 cubic yards of earth for construction of the "McMansions" which will boast views of the world-famous Surfrider Beach.
Critics claim his construction will harm wildlife, cause noise and dust pollution, add to land erosion and run a water pipe through pristine wilderness.
Pristine wilderness? Malibu is just outside the city limits of Los Angeles. The best way to promote wild life in the area would be to lower the price of cocaine.
Besides, "The Edge" says the mansions he's building "will be some of the most environmentally sensitive ever designed in Malibu, or anywhere." I'll bet gold-plated bathrooms have composting toilets.

"The Edge" strikes a pose.
On a tip from Bryherb.
