Obama Wastes >9,000 Gallons of Fuel Jetting Around on Earth Day
Yesterday the Most Equal of All Animals celebrated Earth Day by wasting over 9,000 gallons of fuel on a frivolous trip to Iowa. He went out there to give a speech at a plant manufacturing inefficient but highly symbolic windmills. As even CBS couldn't help but notice.
President Obama could have saved at least 9,116 gallons of fuel by giving his speech at the White House — but no wind turbines are manufactured here.
While Comrade Obama is flown around to his photo ops in luxurious jets, the rest of us face the prospect of power bills that will skyrocket as promised, due to cap and trade lunacy and the coerced use of technology that isn't cost-effective (e.g., windmills). Maybe The Anointed One could prove he isn't utterly fake by taking a windmill-powered jet next time.
On a tip from nancz.

That's a big ass carbon footprint.

What ? Obama has to use a jet? I thought he just performed a transfiguration from point A to point B.
Posted by: IOpian at April 23, 2009 11:37 AM
That's probably more fuel that I've used since I've stared driving.

Me 2, and I'm a longhaul trucker!

Obama seems to spend more time jetting around the planet than being in Washington. Anyone have any stats on the time he has spent outside Washington and outside the US?
Posted by: Nattering Nabob of Negativity at April 23, 2009 12:06 PM
I don't have that stat, Nabob, but I do know when he goes away the stock market gets a bump, and when he comes back, it crashes.

imagine my surprise

Feel free to outraged, whatever the answer is!

BHO's carbon footprints don't count, dontcha know.

Yes, the president of the most important country in the world will be inclined to fly around on a jet to make speeches. Incredible! You've really uncovered something here!
And you might want to be careful or you'll find yourself defending the use of less fuel!
Posted by: Anonymous at April 23, 2009 2:58 PM
so Obama & ALGORE keep raising their carbon footprinst while expecting all us peons to build houses of poo.....
Obama & ALGORE & Pelosi & Reid et. al have made sure that they don't have to conserve or cut back while all us peons are facing fuel prices that are going to rise exponentially once the cap & trade system is in place...thank goodness the democrat leadership team has made sure that none of the coming anarchy will affect them.

IT said "Yes, the president of the most important country in the world will be inclined to fly around on a jet to make speeches."
IT needs to read the news reports...with Obama bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia & high fiving Chavez and surrendering to Castro, the world no longer thinks we are the most important country in the world....

I think we could all agree to pony-up for 9K pounds of fuel if his next overseas trip was ticketed one-way.
Posted by: Mustang at April 23, 2009 3:36 PM
If he is successful on getting this CAP & TRADE nonsense in and it does (as he's claimed) up our electricity costs 10 fold, I'll be in the poorhouse ... even tho my "income" is slightly over $60K. Because 10 x my current electric bill would be more than 1/2 my take home.
At that rate, I'd have to seriously start thinking about quitting my job, get "off the grid" and live out in the middle of nowhere... on nuts and berries.

I want to be the first to say that B. Hussein Obama is the best thing to happen to the republican party since Ronnie..
B. Hussein will unite the republican party and get Fred Thompson elected in 2012......

NO! THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT! You know what we should do? If the eco-tards really want this, then we double down. I'm NOT about to end my standard of living because some nitwit thinks I shouldn't drive a truck to work. Screw them! And you know its easy for those D.C. assholes to pass huge tax hikes on the poor, because that is all Tax-and-Steal will amount to, because the rich are insulated from the increased cost of energy.

You want to talk about bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia, at least Obama is doing it just to make appearances. Bush had his whole frigging head and shoulders up the Saudi's asses!
Posted by: Anonymous at April 23, 2009 8:17 PM
WRONG!
The actual figure of directly attribitual fuel usage for ground and air transportation needed for him to do this is many times the 9,116 gallons stated. It might be as much as 10 times the amount.
Don't forget that someone had to send an advance team or a couple of advance teams.
Had to get the Marine 1 helo there (as well as the several other's that went along to support and fly as cover). Had to get those same helos all back to Quantico.
Had to fly the Presidential Limo and all the SS support and guard vehicles out to the site, or at least drive some of the support vehicles.
Need I go on.
The true figure of gallons of fuel wasted for him to go give a 20 minute appearance was 100,000 gallons on the conserative end of the estimate.

hey anoymouse....want to provide some facts to support your accusation??
can't do it, eh??
Posted by: scum at April 23, 2009 9:22 PM
Forget the hypocrisy for a second folks. Take a deep thought about the eco-extremists and their failure even consider how inter-connect the world is now a days. Alternative fuels are not cost effective to ship goods over any distance. Ergo, for all the protest materials that the eco-extremists want can't always be produced locally. Some of the precious metals they want for their ipods with all their hate filled music/podcasts, special beans for their coffees, or the printers ink to produce the anti-democracy pamphlets they pass out at their protests.
It is alright though I am thinking with too much logic about the situtation and should just drink thier koolaid

Yes, and another example Charles, is those ugly and dangerous pigtail lightbulbs. Probably many of you saw the feature on Glenn. These monstrosities are made in China and have to be shipped via black smoke-belching freighters halfway around the world, leaking God-knows-what, and maybe hitting a few manitees and whales on the way. God forbid a lightbulb gets tossed overboard and now we have mercury in the water. I will never forgive GWB for signing off on this. Hear that, lurking Moonbats?

Hasn't the messiah heard of the teleconference?
Posted by: JamesJ at April 24, 2009 5:59 AM
karin - i saw that on the news and to think we could get safer bulbs from a plant in kentucky! as i've stated before, all our curly-cue bulbs are safely wrapped in plastic and socks in a secure location - when need be, i'm going to weight them with SOME LEAD and send them flying with my wrist rocket at the first greenie who verbally or otherwise attacks me.
