How to Waste $Zillions

Our liberal rulers are stealing such vast sums of money from us, our children, and their children yet unborn that you have to wonder how they can spend it all. Apparently, it isn't easy. For example, they've been reduced to blowing $180,000 on this:

The two-foot-tall bronze bauble is supposed to be a "thought bubble." Olympia, Washington wants 10 of them @ $18,000 apiece to adorn the local Temple of Statism, aka City Hall. This is the sort of project down which much of the "stimulus" loot is being flushed.

What do you expect when the government's economic policy is to try to spend its way out of debt?

I attend meetings at local municipalities as part of my work, so I've been hearing where some of the porkulus money is going to end up. (BTW, it's definitely not "stimulus" as most of the money is going to projects still the planning stage - not "shovel ready" as Obama knowingly misrepresented them).

One municipality is planning on spending 190k on new sidewalks and curb cuts. At least the citizens will have nice sidewalks to sleep on when the private sector is completely destroyed.

Another town was discussing getting some loot from a State organization that is in charge of distributing to borrowed money to municipalities. One of the administrators at the state organization apparently told the town councilman he should hurry and come up with some proposals because they have "$90 million to unload this year and $90 million to get rid of next year". He said the woman actually used the terms "unload" and "get rid of" and everyone chuckled.

Exactly. Projects are not capable of being put out to bid unless funds are available.

And MaryHunter, no, you're not missing anything.

The classic cartoon "thought bubble" is actually shaped like a cartoon cloud and has circles leading to the "thinker". The stupid LIBERAL "artists" and polititions can't even get THAT right!

Anybody have any idea why the hell this thing should cost $18k, for G-d's sake? I mean other than the fact that the gum-mint is paying for 'em, and we all know how efficient and cost-conscious governments are . . .

I'll make 'em for $1k each, if you want -- happy to have the business. Post here on Moonbattery and I'll get right back to 'ya . . .
