Biden: Panic!
This morning, Plugs Biden had this to say on NBC's Decay show in light of the Mexican flu:
I would tell members of my family — and I have — I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now. It's not that it's going to Mexico. It's [that] you're in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That's me. …
So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation. If you're out in the middle of a field when someone sneezes, that's one thing. If you're in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it's a different thing.
Stay home from school, stay off airplanes, and whatever you do, don't get on public transportation. But there's no need to get really carried away by asking the government to assert control over the Mexican border.
Almost immediately, the White House put some words into a Biden spokesweenie's mouth, to the effect that he actually meant something very different from what he clearly said. Apparently shutting down transportation in a hysterical panic isn't the government's policy after all.
It's hard to say what's scarier: that Biden is a heartbeat away, or that someone with such atrocious judgment as to make him VP is already in the Oval Office.

On a tip from Name.

Biden needs to know that aircraft pressurization systems do not recirculate in a closed loop. The engines provide a high-pressure source called Bleed Air that goes into the cabin, and relief valves let it out. There is a much larger volume of fresh air moving through an aircraft cabin than in your typical office.

Regardless... the comment was stupid, irresponsible, and incredibly naive coming from the second highest public official in the land.
The FAA, the airlines, the CDC, were all probably rolling their eyes when they heard this. I find it incredible that as a common citizen I'm more informed of the risks and dangers than the Vice President. Appalling.

Another foot in mouth Biden event. Typical as always, not much from the MSM on this. What a joke.

Biden is a dangerous fool- his advice and a quarter will get you a cup of coffee at 7-11 (small).
-
He has been on the wrong side of history forever, so his DNC-vaunted “experience” has little value… he doesn’t appear to have learned a thing.
-
Like Obama, he vehemently opposed the highly-successful Iraq “Surge” strategy- instead, Biden favored surrender and came-up with a harebrained proposal to split the country 3-ways.
The reality is that if the current administration was in-charge 4 years ago, Iraq today would be an Al Qaida Caliphate that makes Kabul of 2001 look like Disneyland.
-
Biden opposed every element of Reagan’s defense buildup that toppled the USSR as “dangerous”- and opposed the first Gulf war, which would have allowed Sadam to keep Kuwait and control a large chunk of the world’s oil supplies.
-
In the 1987 presidential primaries, he not only plaguerized British Labor leader Neil Kinnock’s speeches wholesale… but actually co-opted his entire life story, falsely claiming to have been the “first in his family to go to college” and a “coal-miner’s son”… when in fact Biden’s father was a car salesman (no surprise there, Biden looks like one too).
-
Joey Plugs often says things that betray a major disconnect with reality– best chain him to a telemprompter every time he heads-out the door.

Biden is the ONLY one STUPID enough to be a useful idiot for Barry. We're talking about relative levels here.

Somebody once told me that if I voted for McCain we'd have the dumbest politician alive for VP... and they were right!

Gibbs' job would be so much easier if he just started telling everybody: Its JOE BIDEN. Do you really think I can fathom what comes out of his mouth?
Posted by: Cheesecake at April 30, 2009 11:58 PM
I don't know which is more absurd, VP Biden's remarks or the remarks of others telling us what the VEEP meant to say when they evidently never spoke with him about his remarks.
