Biden: Panic!

Posted by Dave Blount at April 30, 2009 9:29 AM

This morning, Plugs Biden had this to say on NBC's Decay show in light of the Mexican flu:

I would tell members of my family — and I have — I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now. It's not that it's going to Mexico. It's [that] you're in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That's me. …
So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation. If you're out in the middle of a field when someone sneezes, that's one thing. If you're in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it's a different thing.

Stay home from school, stay off airplanes, and whatever you do, don't get on public transportation. But there's no need to get really carried away by asking the government to assert control over the Mexican border.

Almost immediately, the White House put some words into a Biden spokesweenie's mouth, to the effect that he actually meant something very different from what he clearly said. Apparently shutting down transportation in a hysterical panic isn't the government's policy after all.

It's hard to say what's scarier: that Biden is a heartbeat away, or that someone with such atrocious judgment as to make him VP is already in the Oval Office.
