A Flight Down Memory Lane
Of all the gaffes that have summed up the Obama Administration, none more perfectly reflects its out-of-touch cluelessness than having a fighter jet chase Air Force One over the socket where the World Trade Center should be for the sake of some cheesy photo op. The scene in Lower Manhattan yesterday:
A jumbo jet being chased by a F-16 fighter jets buzzed Lower Manhattan this morning, panicking New Yorkers, many of whom were forced to evacuate their office buildings. …
The planes flew over the Verrazano Bridge, buzzed the left ear Lady Liberty and then continued up the Hudson past Jersey City and then circling back toward Staten Island, federal sources told the Post.
Thousands flooded the streets downtown as buildings called evacuations.
"There is situation outside. We don't have any further information," went one announcement at the Embassy Suites downtown.
Our rulers wanted a picture of Comrade Obama's flying palace in front of the Statue of Liberty. Apparently, they've never heard of Photoshop.
Video, via Gateway Pundit:
As a guy who was working in Lower Manhattan on 9/11, I can say this really brings back memories.
Via Ace of Spades HQ, the quote of the day:
Isn't it fabulous how Obama has reconciled with our enemies and put fear into the hearts of Americans? Does any image illustrate so neatly the wrongheadedness of the Obama administration than Americans scrambling in terror from Air Force One?
The enemy is in the cockpit, as this so perfectly symbolizes.

Apparently the Obama administration would rather scare hundreds of New Yorkers rather than pay 300 bucks for Adobe Photoshop since The Messiah needs to look cool.
Oh, by the way, I thought this was hilarious.

I am so sorry for the good people of New York.
What a terrible and frightening thing to have to experience...and then to absorb the information that your own government goofs allowed it to take place.
Kinda breaks the heart.

Air Force One tortured a few thousand people in NYC yesterday, my mother called me in a state of panic, Jesus, I thought she was going to have a heart attack, interestingly enough, it took the obama administration 6 hrs. to respond. gibbs looked like a deer caught in the headlights at the press conference yesterday when asked about it. What a bunch of clowns.

The incompetence of the Obama administration is mind boogling.
Posted by: scribbler at April 28, 2009 8:27 AM
And while the Obama Regime was burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel for their "Photo Op," Hilldog was screeching about the U.S. being "AWOL" on reducing carbon emissions.
Why Ben, Brandon, and the Anonymous tools defend these people is not rationally explainable.

no, no, no - Obama ordered the fly by of NYC yesterday to divert the press from his teleprompter screw up....
Posted by: blue at April 28, 2009 8:32 AM
Scared hundreds? thousands? When this happened it was more like MILLIONS. Everyone in the NYC was thinking "My God, not again!"
Now if a warning had been broadcast by the media at least a day earlier, that would have been one thing, but to pull a stunt like this shows how out of touch the Obama administration really is. Did no one speak up and say "Doing this is a really bad idea!"?

Any truth to the rumor that William Ayers was piloting?

It's gonna get worse folks! The Democratic party has sealed their fate. After however long Barry lasts (I'm betting not full term) it will be an insult to call someone a liberal (more than now) or Democrat. This Administration is like a really BAD "B" movie! Some one turn on the lights - a joke, right!? No one could be this stupid!

P.S. I wrote a short blog entry on this topic myself:

On a side note, almost all day MSNBC kept refering it to "747, F-16 fly over lower NYC, causing scare"
I guess technically it is a 747 and not Air Force One until the messiah is aboard.

Yes, scribbler, I was sure that your mind is "boogled" before. Now that you admit it, we can move on.

What a stupid thing to do...why did Obama need new photos of a jet? Don't they already have some? Besides, was Obama sitting near a window, hanging out the window, waving at the camera like a kid does out the window of his parents' mini van?
This shows, once again, how stupid and arrogant he is.

Good one, Moon "ad hominem" bat. While you're at it, how's about you do some 'splaining about your messiah's photo op? You know, the point of this thread?
Posted by: hiram at April 28, 2009 9:44 AM
Hmmm.... "Red Tails" were escorting the 747. New movie out this fall, "Red Tails" (about the Tuskeegee airmen). Coincidence?
This guy's got a good take on it...

Obama "The Muslim Terrorist" has struck again. He will be known as the 21st hijacker from now on.

AS someone else pointed out, Obama sat in Reverend Wright's church for years and "didn't know" that he was preaching hate. Now he says he "didn't know" that Air Force One was going to be buzzing NYC at low altitude. Can he not take responsibility for anything? Let's see how he blames Bush for this one.
Posted by: Nancy at April 28, 2009 11:30 AM
Nancy, Chuck Shumer has already laid it at the door step of the Bush Admin by saying it was the fault of the FAA Director-a Bush appointee-and calling him a bumbling idiot.
Posted by: Tom at April 28, 2009 11:41 AM
I know, really. Moon bat, that's the best you've got? Where are the various anonymouses, Andy, Ghost of Wellstone? Surely you have something pithy to say in defense of the messiah?
Arrogant, stupid and incompetent. And of course, obviously tone-deaf to anything related to terrorism.

The irony is, the people of NY, especially the City of NY, overwhelmingly (Bronx, Queens, Kings: Obama 80%) voted for this moron.
They are merely tasting the bitter fruit of their vote.

Some others in the blogosphere are attaching a much more sinister flavor to this: Designed to blur the fear of a plane flying over NYC, Obama and our enemies can conspire to kill many, many more Americans than without the stunt.
Posted by: Karin at April 28, 2009 2:02 PM
It amazes me how anyone could think that flying an airplane over Manhattan at low altitude, with fighter jets trailing it wouldn't cause a panic. This is like going to Walter Reed Medical Center and tossing an M-80 under the bed of a sleeping “Shell Shocked” combat veteran. If Obama wants a picture of Air Force One with “Lady Liberty” in the background, there's a nice little program out there called "Photoshop." I guess you just can't fix stupid!

What a stupid mistake. I agree with the first poster... why didn't they just buy photoshop instead? Really Obama, come on now.
Anyway, here's a video i found showing how different news outlets are reporting the story. It's interesting to see the difference in perspectives:

Why do you Liberals want everyone to IGNORE Hopey McChange's screw-ups? (He's in charege, he has to take the responcibility for his hirelings)
PS: I know the reason you all want this to blow over, I just want to hear one of you be HONEST for once.

You know what bothers me about this incident? This is just as we're hearing the "OMG, Swine Flu- Everybody Panic!" stories in the media, and then Team O decides to fly an aircraft over Manhattan at a suspiciously low altitude- without telling Mayor Bloomberg- scaring the sh!t out of thousands of people.
Why?
Tell me it's not just a "test" to gauge how people will react. Please tell me this has nothing to do with the "Never let a good crisis go to waste" mentality.
Okay. One doesn't have anything to do with the other. It's just plain f*cking asinine.
