UPS Pulls Ads From O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly's show is usually entertaining and informative, but it's hardly the vanguard of conservatism, given the tendency to bash energy companies and give Chairman Zero every benefit of the doubt. However, if it's up to hard left outfits like Soros-funded Think Progress, anything to the right of Keith Olbermann will be stifled. Rather than waiting for their Dear Leader to get around to repealing the First Amendment, they've been going after Bill O's advertisers — with disturbing success in the case of UPS, having elicited this:

If the left continues to have its way, our only choice between the milquetoast leftism of PBS and NPR, the pompous, condescending leftism personified by network anchors, and the shrieking unhinged leftism found on MSNBC. At that point, we will all be united, and can march in lockstep toward our glorious Soviet future.

On a tip from V the K.

Update:

If anyone wants to weigh in with the UPS people to remind them that moonbats aren't the only ones who ship packages, you can email them here.

We would do the same thing in turn, but well... the liberal shows really have no advertisers. Although I think I've been seeing a few Snuggie and Shamwow commercials during Overbite's spot on PMSNBC.

OK, I have to admit I am out-of-the-loop on this one.

Was there a particular incident that Leftists used as leverage to get UPS to drop its sponsorship of O'Reilly's show?

Think Progress makes a good case though. O'Reilly consistently harasses those who disagree with him, yet defends those who are chased by the paparazzi.

I think we will be safe. Fox News still has the top 5 viewership for cable news programming. If Glenn Beck can beat everyone on MSNBC then I would say there is little to worry about.

It is UPS loss. I don't have to use them and if they don't want the publicty that Fox offers. Oh well. We should email anyone who advertise with Conservatives and thank them.

Alfred Hitchcock used to complain constantly about the advertising, but the companies would line up to get the gig, I would imagine there are plenty of other sponsors who are anxious to take over the open UPS slots.

Posted on their email:

Thanks for helping me to choose. Since you dumped Bill O'Reilly's show I now know I will do all my shipping via FedEx or any other shipper than UPS.

Your bogus excuses for dropping his show are really dumb.

Oh yeah, the next time I see one of your drivers speeding our maneuvering in a less than circumspect manner it's 9-1-1 time. I will consider it an obligation because you put yourselves up to be so holy and pure in thought and deed now.

But apparently, they are unwilling to let viewers make this determination for themselves. Typical fascist behavior.

I sent one, too, short and sweet.

I think the moonbats are delusional for believing their puny little petition had much influence with UPS. I expect advertising on the Factor is expensive, and if the UPS execs are moonbats already, then it's not much of an accomplishment.

Posted by: Alan at March 30, 2009 10:57 AM

The moonbats are only doing this out of their professed undying love for freedom of speech.

Eh. I have an online business and I never use UPS. They are a hassle to deal with and cost out the butt.

Wow...I never cease to be amazed at how stupid O'Reiley fans are. Did it ever occur to you bone heads that UPS may have decided to stop advertising prior to this? Maybe they are being hit by the economy like everyone else? But that would have taken just a little bit of thought...so I don't suppose you would have thought of it.

This update is on the thinkprogress site:

We are writing to clarify our statement of last Friday because it appears to have been misinterpreted. UPS has not “pulled” any advertising from Fox News nor has the company taken a position on the “Think Progress” campaign. Our intent on Friday simply was to note that UPS does not have any pending advertising plans with the O’Reilly show.”

If you look farther down this page, there is this:

UPDATE: Mr. Coe from AT&T called on 3/25/09 to complain about our automated email campaign, saying it is “harassment.” ThinkProgress noted that if he thinks receiving e-mails is harassment, he will surely think that stalking and accosting a person on vacation is outrageous. Hopefully, AT&T and the other advertisers will use their influence over O’Reilly to urge him to end his practice of “ambush journalism.”

Sounds like they're shooting blanks.
