The Manchurian President
It seems so incredible that people fear they will discredit themselves by admitting to have noticed it, yet with every week that passes, it becomes more impossible to deny: the President of the United States is deliberately destroying the American economy, plunging us into a depression to advance his authoritarian collectivist objectives. Even Bloomberg.com has begun to address this bizarre and terrifying reality, in an editorial by Kevin Hassett:
Imagine that some hypothetical enemy state spent years preparing a "Manchurian Candidate" to destroy the U.S. economy once elected. What policies might that leader pursue?
He might discourage private capital from entering the financial sector by instructing his Treasury secretary to repeatedly promise a brilliant rescue plan, but never actually have one. Private firms, spooked by the thought of what government might do, would shy away from transactions altogether. If the secretary were smooth and played rope-a-dope long enough, the whole financial sector would be gone before voters could demand action.
Another diabolical idea would be to significantly increase taxes on whatever firms are still standing. That would require subterfuge, since increasing tax rates would be too obvious. Our Manchurian Candidate would have plenty of sophisticated ideas on changing the rules to get more revenue without increasing rates, such as auctioning off "permits."
These steps would create near-term distress. If our Manchurian Candidate leader really wanted to knock the country down for good, he would have to provide insurance against any long-run recovery.
There are two steps to accomplish that.
Discourage Innovation
First, one way the economy might finally take off is for some entrepreneur to invent an amazing new product that launches something on the scale of the dot-com boom. If you want to destroy an economy, you have to persuade those innovators not even to try.
Second, you need to initiate entitlement programs that are difficult to change once enacted. These programs should transfer assets away from productive areas of the economy as efficiently as possible. Ideally, the government will have no choice but to increase taxes sharply in the future to pay for new entitlements.
A leader who pulled off all that might be able to finish off the country.
Let's see how Obama's plan compares with our nightmare scenario.
As Hassett documents, in compares perfectly.
Obama's real father, an African socialist, abandoned him. He subsequently adopted two father figures, both of them rabidly anti-American Marxists: Frank Marshall Davis and Jeremiah Wright. His political career was launched by the unrepentant communist terrorist Bill Ayers, best known for bombing the Pentagon and the Capitol. At some level, even many of the fools who voted for Obama must have suspected that "Change" would entail destroying the country he despises, starting with its capitalist economy.

I've been debating with myself too whether this is just amateur hour in the White House, or whether all this is done on purpose. Let's see.. weaken America's economy, the tons of abortion related bills signed, more people dependent on government, cowering to turd world countries and rogue dictators. It does all go too well together with the Manchurian candidate theme imposed by an enemy state.
Really makes ya think.

We've been comparing Obama to Hitler, Stalin, and The AntiChrist. I think it is time to stop being so gentle with him. This guy is really bad! He is just no good. For him, there is no "Rest of the story". Trying to describe just how bad Obama is with the words of the English Language is difficult--it is almost as if we need to define special words for new dimensions of badness.
There will be a time when the very noun Obama will be used to describe the ultimate level of degenerate evil when the comparisons to Hitler, Stalin, and The AntiChrist are inadequate.

Manchurian? No more like the Kenyan Candidate by way of Zimbabwe. His goal? Make America as great as Zimbabwe.

U R Insane. Keep hiding your heads in the sand. Keep believing that YOUR leaders haven't betrayed you or our (yea, it's not just yours) country. Keep believing that corporations are your friend and that tax cuts will lead us to salvation.
Here's the news flash - businesses, with little to no government regulation, gave us this mess. You enjoying it? I'm not.
We, the People, will have to fix it as there has not been one single solitary businessman who has stepped up to the plate, said yup we messed this up good but we'll fix it. If those that brought us here won't fix it, then self preservation demands that we the masses - the people - the government (We the People, you know) have to fix it.
Unless of course you have a better plan (that's not solely tax cuts)

It was government intervention in the marketplace that gave us this mess. And there is only one "plan" that can get us out of this. From The Objectivist Standard:
First, that this is not a crisis of capitalism. Americans must stop blaming the free market for today’s problems because, as Don Watkins and I argue in our article “America’s Unfree Market” [p. 13], there was no free market.
Second, Americans must grasp the actual causes of today’s crisis. They need to learn that it wasn’t the free market that failed, but the unfree market. They need to discover the role of the government’s reckless “affordable housing” crusade, and, above all, the role of the Federal Reserve’s easy credit policy, which made the housing boom possible.
Third, Americans must learn that the solution to the crisis is not to give up on freedom, but to expand freedom. We need to liberate the economy from the regulatory shackles that led banks to make unsound loans. We need to slash taxes and government spending, and start to rebuild capital. We need to end the bailouts, the nationalizations, and stimulus bills that are delaying recovery by propping up businesses that need to be liquidated. We need to end the Federal Reserve’s attempts to engineer the economy and, eventually, abolish the Fed altogether.

I think anyone who believes business in the USA is completely unregulated is worth arguing with. Obviously this person is unaware of Sarbanes-Oxley, unaware of mark-to-market, unaware of the SEC reporting requirements, unaware of the Tort bar, unaware of the Community Reinvestment Act, unaware of EEOC regulations, and unaware of tens of thousands of other regulations that strangle business in the USA.
Also, no leftist has yet managed to point out the regulations that the Bush Administration overturned that resulted in the current crisis.

I think Barry was pretty clear about his intentions from the start. At least his aims, it didn't take that much to figure out how he was going to do it. GRANTED, MOST of his voters couldn't possibly figure it out...they didn't know his policies from McCain's. WE DID.

The financial scenario unfolding should not shock anyone who has take an objective look at Obama over the last 2 years. He's a Marxist, he hates America as it exists now, and I haven't figured it out yet, but he either really despises white people, or black people, He seems resentful of his blackness and jealous of his whiteness, or the other way around. He's all about race. His books are all about race. He can't get passed it. So, he'll destroy the country instead.

OMB, I must disagree with your observation that he seems resentful or jealous (of himself). I think he's perfectly happy with himself.
The only thing that is making him uncomfortable in increasing volume is the Presidency. I don't think he's liking it too much...

"destroying the American economy"?
Well, yessiree. That is the essence of the Cloward-Piven strategy!
The Cloward-Piven Strategy explains a great deal about the "stimulus" package and the Obama administration, and this article gives a good explanation of Cloward-Piven:
