P.U. stands for President Urkle. How appropriate...

Posted by: Hoof Hearted at March 7, 2009 5:51 PM

Hoof,

Is that P.U for B.O.?

Agree.

Posted by: Oiao at March 7, 2009 8:24 PM

Please stop with the insults to Urkel.

Obama and Urkle:

One did silly things and made millions of people laugh at him.

And the other is a comedian.

The big problem is you guys are stuck in the 1950s. You think young people think like you when YOU were young, and they don't. The majority of young people, even moderates and non neo-con conservatives, aren't racist, care about the environment, and either are pro gay marriage or indifferent to it. As soon as your bigoted throwback generation from the separate water fountain days dies off, gay marriage will be legalized, and your grandchildren will look at you like the sad old bigots you are.

Then, conservatives keep throwing around the word "socialism" thinking it will scare Americans and they just don't realize that's a dated term when you're trying to fear monger.

I'm not saying there's none...but there sure aren't many Americans under the age of 50 who immediately association the word "socialism" with the USSR and the Cuban Missile Crisis. We're more likely to think of Sweeden when we hear the word socialism than Cuba. We may not want to become AS socialized as Western Europe, but if it comes down to things like bank nationalization or universal health care, most Americans, and ESPECIALLY most younger Americans, are perfectly fine with a little socialism.

Republicans have grabbed onto this word like a vice and scream it from the rafters, and the apoplectic terror they expect in response is simply not happening. Obama has a ten point higher approval rating than he did upon election, and this approval rating has only increased as he's pushed through recent economic measures. Repubs truly are stuck in a time warp in which they think the rules of 1958 still apply.

You think you can resist change. And that's fine, that's your choice. But things change over time, and if you don't change with them, the only thing it will get you is left behind.

Sweden has a lower corporate tax rate than the USA. Even the Swedes have realized that socialism fails.

What we are fighting against is the ingrained, indoctrinated ignorance of people like Nan who think a society can survive by taking and taking more and more from the productive segment of society and showering it on the unproductive segment.

Instead of being able to debate this point, all they can do is namecall: "You're old. You're racists. You hate the environment."

The really sad part is that we conservatives are trying to save these idiots from themselves.

Nan - B.O. only won by a small margin, not a landslide. The Dimo controlled congress is sealing their own fate to be voted out.

Many who liked B.O are now saying P.U.

Who fills the void? Conseratives and Independants. Don't confused a mixed message by the DNC with the fact that the majority of the country is still center right. Fact.

Typo on my part above.

The last line should read...RNC, not DNC

Who fills the void? Conseratives and Independants. Don't confused a mixed message by the RNC with the fact that the majority of the country is still center right. Fact.

Nobama is a Socialist Deceiver. The Nobama Idiot and his NobamaNoids will see the mushroom cloud alright after they destroy this country via Hyperinflationary Depression. Those monkeys have taken spending/borrowing taxpayer monies to new heights of IDIOCY.

More and more Americans are waking up to the Nobama power grab that is making America poorer and destitute. Wrong-headed Nobama quadrillion dollar plans WILL FAIL.

If young Americans are fine with a little socialism, it's because they're at college, listening to socialist professors and living off either (a) mommy and daddy, or (b) gub'mint loans and grants. Once they reach the real world, and the tax man steals half of their earnings to pay for the roof-perchers, then they'll become conservatives.

"Nan at March 8, 2009 10:30 AM"

There is no such thing as "a little socialism", it's powers are self-perpetuating.

McCarthy is now denounced as a paranoid bully; but the communist records opened since the fall of the USSR show that he only knew HALF the story!

thanks for posting this!

in reference to the favorable posts about socialism, us older americans are more aware of the charade that socialism is for a few reasons.

when we went to school, history was actually taught, and has nothing to do with our personal self-esteem.

teachers and their union didnt have a subversive agenda. they were in it to, get this: teach.

now they seem in it for the money, and the way they get more for doing less is to increase our taxes, thus socialism appears to be the solution.

socialism has failed everywhere, historical facts are ignored while murdering socialist dictators and communists are romanticised.

i think this sums up the situation nicely:

Of course Nan, having no logical arguments, relies instead upon baseless stereotypes by accusing us all of racism and hating the environment. That's all ultra- liberals have to contribute to arguments: Insults, stereotypes, and lies.
Oh, and Nan, while calling us all racists and homophobes for no reason, it must kill you to know that the vast majority of African- American voters in the 2008 election voted in favor of the gay marriage bans throughout the nation.
