Rasmussen index for Zero is at +6 two days in row, 38/32 SA/SD, lowest so far. Down from a high of +30.
The SA has held flat, while the SD has steadily increased.

Too bold, perhaps.

The House quietly shelved the idea late last month, the word delivered in an e-mail to a couple of reporters. It turned out that the House's goal to become carbon neutral — by removing as much carbon dioxide from the air as it releases — could not be guaranteed.

"No one can really tell you if you are truly carbon neutral, and the lack of that standard bothered us," said Jeff Ventura, a spokesman for the House's chief administrative officer.

The House already had spent $89,000 to cancel out 24,000 tons of emissions that it couldn't erase by turning out lights, buying better light bulbs and making the Capitol's power plant burn more natural gas."

Nancy Pelosi says, let them eat cake.

"Taken together, these documents show that Speaker Pelosi treats the Air Force like her personal airline," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Not only does Speaker Pelosi issue unreasonable requests for military travel, but her office seems unconcerned about wasting taxpayer money with last minute cancellations and other demands."

The Worst Schools in America

“School days, school days/ Dear old golden rule days/ Reading and writing and ‘rithmatic . . .”

That ancient ditty relates to a much simpler lifestyle and a far different time in America and in America’s schools and its lyrics must seem like a foreign language today. In too many of our schools, students couldn’t read the words, in others they would be too busy with other pursuits to even try. Those pursuits, incidentally, probably wouldn’t be academic.

America’s schools are failing. That’s old news, of course, and the reasons for that failure as well as the results of that failure have been explored here on numerous occasions. (See “The NEA and ‘Misedumacation’ in America” for one: http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=851 )

As with most things, there are levels of both success and failure and one group has had the temerity to employ what it claims is a “patent-pending school rating algorithm to uncover and identify the 100 worst public schools in America.”

Tall order, that, but its findings, based on “students’ proficiency in reading and math as determined by the ‘No Child Left Behind’ [NCLB] state testing for each school, and the National Assessment for Educational Progress [NAEP]” seem based on very objective criteria. See http://www.walletpop.com/mortgages/worst-performing-public-schools for “Neighborhood Scout’s” listing of “The 25 Worst Performing Public Schools in the U.S.”

Statistics can be very tedious but ...

Swedish scientists prove Obama should not be compared to a chimp

According to a report in Current Biology, Santino, a 31-year-old alpha male chimpanzee in a Swedish zoo starts each day by collecting rocks inside his enclosure. Around midday he begins hurling those rocks from his weapons cache at human visitors who have gathered outside his enclosure.

We have analyzed this study in great depth and determined that Al Sharpton is correct. It is offensive to compare the President to a chimp for the following reasons:

Unlike President Obama, the chimp developed a clear plan and followed it.

Unlike President Obama, the chimp knows he must save his assets and not throw them away all at once.

Unlike President Obama, the chimp believes in stockpiling weapons to use against his enemies.

Unlike President Obama, the chimp is dedicated to defending his homeland.

Unlike President Obama, the chimp didn’t announce that he wanted to negotiate with any of the “moderate” humans who hold him captive.

Unlike President Obama, the chimp hasn’t announced that he will stop throwing rocks in 19 months.

And finally, unlike President Obama, the chimp didn’t demand that the rich gorillas in the next cage share their rocks with him.

A great Dem in the making: Son of Chas Freeman wants to punch his father's critics

[Chas]Freeman's son, also named Charles, penned a piece for the Washington Note website claiming a pro-Israel "cabal" was out to get his father. The younger Freeman is a China scholar who previously served as assistant U.S. trade representative for China affairs.

"A cabal of ideological hardliners has orchestrated a remarkable, self-referential smear campaign against my Dad's appointment, dragging Congress and the political process into this non-political sphere. They are wrong to do it, and not just because my Dad is involved," wrote Freeman Jr.

"[My father's detractors] are low-lives. And if you're among them and by chance read this: I still want to punch you in the face. You'd deserve it, you schmucks," he wrote.

Same Sex Kissing Day at Starbucks

As much as many of you may be absolutely addicted to that cup-o-joe in the mornings, on April 15, I would strongly advise you not to take your kids in or near a Starbucks. Otherwise you might be stuck explaining a few things that you probably believe they are not yet ready to be confronted with. Because I refuse to give the group doing this exercise any traffic I'll simply show you what's on the page...

Pope John Paul II has publicly announced the Catholic Church's efforts to ensure the European Union "makes a clear reference to Europe's Christian heritage" in the proposed new EU Constitution.

At the same time, the Pope, the titular Leader of the Catholic Church, has publicly denounced Canadian and European efforts to legalize same-gender marriage, stating through a spokesman (spokespriest?), "We want to protect the sanctity of marriage, the union of family. The Catholic Church is fighting back against those who want to legalize gay marriage. The Pope says he wants marriage to forever be between a man and a woman."

On the face of it, these positions seem to fall directly in line with traditional Catholic teachings.

And that is what scares the hell out of me.

Since this site is not "journalism," I am permitted to color my "reporting" with my own opinion, so, here they come:

I fail to understand how the Pope or any emmisary from the Catholic Church can stand up and speak on these subjects with anything resembling a straight (no pun intended) face, and furthermore, am flabbergasted that members of this Church continue to have any faith in their "leaders."

Yo, Mr. Pope, sir? Would you mind much following your own spirtual tenets and taking the frigging plank out of your eye? Then you might actually see better that this isn't a speck in ours.

This is the same organization that actually actively thwarted investigations into the criminal activities of pedophile priests.

Let's face it: The documents revealed in the investigation of the behavior of the Church in regards to pedophile priests reveal this organization to be nothing more than a criminal gang. As if the world needed any further proof; The Inquisition, The Crusades, the fostering of Nazism and protection of Nazis during the second world war...all of these examples should be evidence enough.

Although it will never happen, what should happen is this: the Federal Prosecutor in Massachusetts should file RICO charges against the Catholic Church for fostering and hiding this criminal behavior in a systematic manner, crossing not only state lines but borders and continents.

I have always been leery of organized religion. Now I am flat out convinced the Catholic Church is an evil, criminal organization that must be disbanded.
