Jesus Christ you people are idiots. Obama's been in office one month. You think people honestly aren't going to remember that shit hit the fan BEFORE him?

When FDR first took office, things also continued to get worse for awhile, because the economy doesn't just turn around overnight. Yet historically, no one blames FDR for the depression. People realize that it was something he inherited. History will judge Obama the same.

Oh, and great job on making Rush your new leader by the way. Gallup and Pew research polls show that he's less popular than Reverend Wright, President Bush, and terrorist William Ayers. The leader of your party is less popular than a terrorist. Ha ha ha. You guys are the Whigs, you'll be gone in 5 years, tops.

The shit hit the fan after the DEMOCRATS took control back in 2006 - maybe some day people will wake up to that fact.

Anon: Just a very simple, elementary primer about the present economic downturn:

  1. Liberals have no clue as to how an economy works.
  2. Liberals can only look for victims and villains in all things, especially and including Wall Street.
  3. No one with a couple of bucks and in their right mind wants to invest in BO's socialsm.
  4. The economy was crushed under the Democrat's subprime mortagage orgy
  5. we are now asked to come up with trillions of dollars in a give-away mess that has never been tried before on a such a gigantic scale.
  6. BO is proceeding with no real plan, no economic precedent, no genuine economic theory or valid advisory expertise and no support from business.
  7. BO is playing a shell game between cutting taxes, raising taxes and extorting money through green/carbon permits.alternative fuel whatevers which in dire economic times is about the last thing Wall Street or anyone else except liberals and politicians raiding the stimulus pkg wants to see.

Now before you write "F-you" or whatever, read the list again and slow down your heart-rate....breath slowly.
I'm just trying to help you.

Yet historically, no one blames FDR for the depression. People realize that it was something he inherited. History will judge Obama the same.

No, but they do blame FDR for extending the Great Depression out to an entire decade, rather than three or four years of recovery time. If it wasn't for WWII, it may have been longer than that. He may have inherited the problem, but that doesn't mean he didn't make it any worse. And history will indeed judge Obama the same way, for the exact same reason.

The true idiots are those who believe you can throw money at an irresponsible class of citizens with programs like the Great Society or the Community Reinvestment Act and expect to get a responsible class on citizens in return. These are the people to blame for this problem and you have cast your vote for someone who subscribes to this idiotic philosophy. From the plunge of the stock market that he has done nothing to inspire confidence in those who actually understand money. Kiss your 401K goodbye. This idiot is robbing an entire country of years of saving and you support that ? Guess who the idiot is.

Gallup, on the other hand, shows fairer, more balanced, more thoughtful study. About what you'd expect: Conservatives very favorable, Libs very unfavorable, Independents split.

Ok, Clinton wasnt any more responsible than Bush was, but thats neither here not there in Bizarro world. Both had bubbles burst in the final years, but the media adored Clinton and hated Bush - thats the only real difference.

LETTER FROM A LAW STUDENT

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters,

We've stuck together since the late 1950s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know that we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and just will not ever agree on what's right. So let's just end it right now while we can do it on friendly terms. We can smile, shake hands, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and each go our own way.

So here's a model separation agreement.

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by land mass, each taking a portion. That's going to be the difficult part, but I'm sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate taste. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can have those. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. And since you hate guns and you hate war, we'll take the firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. But you are going to be responsible for finding a biodiesel vehicle big enough to haul them around.

We'll keep the capitalism, the greedy corporations, the pharmaceutical companies; we will keep Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have the homeless, the homeboys, the hippies and illegal aliens. We will keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, the greedy CEOS and all of the rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and we'll let you have NBC and Hollywood.

You can be nice to Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer anybody that threatens us. You can have the peaceniks and the war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we will provide them with security. You won't have to worry about it. We will keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley Maclaine. You can also have the UN, but we will no longer pay the bill.

We will keep the SUVs, the pickup trucks and the oversize luxury cars. You can have the compacts, the subcompacts and every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everybody healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors. We will continue to believe that healthcare is a privilege and not a right. We will keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and the national anthem, and I am sure you will be happy to substitute in their place "Imagine." I'd like to teach the world to sing "Kumbaya" or "We are the world." We will practice trickle-down economics and you can give trickle-up poverty your best shot. And since it so offends you, we will keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots. And if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the friendly spirit of parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in about 15 years.

Sincerely,

John J Wall

Law student and an American

P.S. You can also have Barbara Streisand and Jane Fonda

Why, because Democratic Party Voters and minorities voted against Gays getting Married in CA! Fact.

Even the 9th Court is not going to overturn the vote. Granted, 18,000 Gays married another.

As for those, they will soon be sooooooooo sorry they combined the 'family' income when the Big O Tax U rules come into play. They will divorce like droves over having to pay all of the household income tax.

The Limbaugh-Obama Brouhaha

As someone who has listened, off and on, to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show for some 20+ years, I must be unique since I can’t say I qualify as one of his ”ditto-heads,” i.e., people who subscribe 100% to everything the Rush-man preaches.

I also can’t say I share what seems to be the virtual reverence for the guy that many of his 20,000,000 listeners have. Rush is a blowhard, a pompous conservative blowhard, but nevertheless a pompous blowhard, as well as frequently obnoxious, often egotistical, and occasionally hypocritical and insensitive, all of which would suggest I don’t like or respect the man which would be an incorrect assumption.

Point is, despite his negatives his positives far outweigh them. He may be all of the above but Rush Limbaugh is our pompous, obnoxious, egotistical, hypocritical, insensitive blowhard and easily the most valuable asset the American conservative movement has in its arsenal.

Rush Hudson Limbaugh, 58, thrice married, admitted former drug addict (oxycontin), controversial talk show host, and cigar afficionado, is essentially a good man, a very rich man thanks to his extended success as a political commentator and a 2002, 8-year contract from Clear Channel Communications, which he signed knowing he was going deaf.

Deafness is a significant drawback for a radio guy, although Rush was able to get a cochlear implant which effectively returned the gift of hearing to him. Still, he signed that huge contract under false pretenses, which is one issue I have with him even if things worked out for both him and Clear Channel.

Rush alleges he has been proven right on his prognostications, critical observations, and opinions some 99%+ of the time, as certified by an objective, outside source. I’m not sure that’s statistically verifiable but that’s irrelevant. I agree with him about 90-95% of the time, and vice versa, and that’s fine by me.

There’s no need to recount Rush Limbaugh’s many accomplishments, awards, recognitions since he does a fine job doing that himself. Also, for anyone out there who doesn’t know where he stands on the issues and politics of the day, rather than detailing them I would refer the curious to his website, http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html. As with many other successful website entrepreneurs, he has a basic and a pay-to-watch, “Rush 24/7″ additional feature which, considering his millions, strikes me as a tad tacky and rapacious. But, that’s just my opinion.

The brouhaha of this article title, of course, refers to what’s currently going on with Rush and the new president. In a word, it’s shameful. The shame does not extend to Limbaugh since he neither provoked nor encouraged it.

As Sean Hannity did during and since the last campaign, Rush has extended an invitation to President Obama to debate him on his show, all 3 hours of his show, if Obama wishes. The format for the debate would have no holds barred, with no lackeys such as Rahm Emanuel as substitutes or advisors, no moderators to tailor softball questions, and definitely sans any teleprompters, a prospect which if nothing else should give Obama a serious case of the hershey squirts.

Why, though, would a sitting president deign to accept such an invite from a man the administration has already described as merely “an entertainer?” . . .

Anon, here's the deal. Capitulation day is coming in the market. Could be in a day, or a week, or most likely in a month or so after a few rally attempts. When that happens, i.e. an 8-15 % drop in a very short span of time like a trading day or two, people are gonna be pissed, confused, and angry, and it's gonna get pinned on Obama. Market corrections end with capitulation days, which has not happened yet this time, but always does, without exception since the Dutch Tulips and East India Co. and railroads and autos and Internet. There has NEVER been an exception, ever, to the final capitulation day to end a market correction. And whoever's president, "owns" it. It's time stamped, and takes place within someone's administration. So saddle up. This Obama-and-the-markets story has been in Preface mode and is about to move on to the main text.

I say that as a traditional/classical liberal with no axe to grind; I don't personally believe presidents or governments have much to do with or much control over economic cycles and financial market behavior. I don't think this is Obama's fault, or Bush's or Clintons. We're at the tail end of a 15 year expansion cycle and now it will contract. We'd be in the same spot with McCain or anyone else. But no matter, this one will be Obama's, his name and fingerprints will be forever on it, that is just how politics and history work. Time for you lefties to stop living the dream that all bad things will be stuck on Bush and all good things credited to Obama. Ain't gonna play out that way.

The Dobbs segment to which this story refers is above (thanks to Hugo Schmidt). It is a bit careless -- the Islamic organization in question is the "Organization of the Islamic Conference," not the "Organization of Islamic Countries" -- but the information about the imminent threat to free speech is generally accurate.

IS THIS HOPE? IS THIS CHANGE?

Posted by: dpt at March 7, 2009 1:38 AM

A lot of people to address here, starting with the only one who made no intelligent points:
Anon, you're an idiot. Our financial problemsare teh cause of Democrats. See, there were two major factors which contributed to our current financial problems, both of which were largely the fault of liberal Democrats:
1. Obviously, the housing/ mortgage crisis. This was caused by a lot of banks that made a lot of very risky homeowners' loans to a lot of people who they knew would be incapable of paying them back. Why did the banks approve those risky loans? Because they were forced to, under policies such as the Community Re- Investment Act which Obama and the other Democrats in Congress enacted in the name of "Social justice."
2. The collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. It was clear for a long time that those companies were becoming way too bloated, way too fast. Many bankers, such as my father, quickly figured this out, and dumped all their Fannie and Freddy stock years ago (My dad's bank got rid of all its Fannie and Freddy stock back in 2006). Many Republican politicians, such as then- President Bush and John McCain, also figured this out, and tried repeatedly to warn Congress that action needed to be taken before it was too late. However, the Democrats in Congress largely refused to listen or do anything about it, possibly because several key Democrats were so deeply in Fannie and Freddy's pockets that it's a miracle they weren't covered with lint.
Oh, and Anon, Rush is most definitely not our "Leader." I don't even listen to the guy's show. He's popular, sure, but I wouldn't call him the "Leader" of American conservatives, ever.

Gregory of Yardale, while I knew about that gift exchange, I didn't know about Brown's failing vision. I just thought it was in extremely poor taste that Obama responded to Brown's VERY nice and generous gift (A first- edition seven- volume set of the biography of Winston Churchill, and a pen holder set made from the same wood used to make the desk in the Oval Office) by giving him a box of DVDs! What's even worse is the gift exchange between Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Brown for their respective children. Mrs. Brown gave Sasha and Malia clothes from the high end clothing chain Top Shop, and also a few children's books by British authors. Mrs. Obama, in turn, gave each of Brown's two sons a $15 model of Marine One from the White House gift shop!
TED, that letter was excellent! I'd agree to that plan!

Stephen Baldwin Takes on Hollywood, (Sort of)

Stephen Baldwin, the good brother in the Baldwin clan, thinks Hollywood sucks.

He didn’t quite put it that way but that’s essentially how he seems to feel regarding the excessive violence and sexual themes prevalent in movies produced in Hollywood: http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=44591.

That’s really not news to anyone who lays out ten bucks or more at their local movie house or to people who rent their flicks from Blockbuster or Netflix. What is a revelation is Baldwin’s allegations as to why the crap fills so many of America’s big screens and home theater screens.

I should qualify that comment. Many of us are fully aware of the reasons Hollywood consistently churns out violent and trashy garbage, and it’s not because they are moneymakers. In actuality, family fare films return far more profit to movie studios.

What then is the rationale for refusing to film more family flicks if not the almighty dollar? Asked a question specific to the Oscar awarded to Milk and whether, like Brokeback Mountain, which won 3 academy awards in 2006, Milk won because of its homosexual theme, Baldwin says it’s because, “Hollywood and the Academy has [sic] an agenda every year.”

Good gracious! Is he charging that there is a conspiracy on the Left Coast? Is he alleging there is some kind of “moral issue” driving producers to turn out more and more films featuring graphic sex and violence? Is he contending that there’s a Hollywood cabal that is interested more in corrupting the minds and souls of moviegoers, especially young moviegoers’ minds and souls, than in producing wholesome films?

Baldwin’s answer is, yes, to all of the above.

Baldwin forthrightly says, “I think that a small core group of individuals that make a lot of the decisions about what that content is going to be are in charge.” He adds that, “80 percent of [that content] is negative and violent and immoral and 20 percent of it is positive and happy and friendly and joyous and family [and] that’s an imbalance.”

No kidding, Stephen, an imbalance that greed can’t explain since that 20 percent adds far more to the bottom line per picture than the 80 percent.

Baldwin went on to explain...
