Okay to Hate

Atlanta's City Hall East has some art on display that moonbats will no doubt praise as "provocative":

The piece that is garnering all of the attention is called "Formula For Hatred." … The piece has 32 flags, with a hidden message that reads, "Politically It's Okay To Hate The White Man."

The artist is Hispanic. The curator responsible for placing it in City Hall is black. Presumably, the police officers who want it taken down are among the white men who it's okay to hate.

Formula for left-wing bigotry.

On a tip from nancz.

Update:

The artist actually intended this as countermoonbattery (on a tip from Todd R). When it comes to moonbattery, it's never easy to tell what's on the level.

I'd say the artist made an astute observation. Politically, it IS OK to hate the white man.

Racism comes in many forms, and not just humorless comments about fried chicken and watermelon.

When I see the utilization of flags visually, and consider the word 'Politically' (in the hidden message) used with the title "Formula for Hatred," I end up feeling as if the message is a condemnation of what I would call 'reverse racism' that we see nowadays. As an artist myself, I love to see things working together in this kind of way, since it always pisses off people with a guilty conscience. Hahaha. In our time of overt, extreme political correctness, it's nice to see someone pointing out that some facets of society have become so sensitive to racial issues, that instead of promoting equality, they try to keep the scales balanced in the favor of non-whites because they're scared some ethnic group will complain. Both sides are at fault, in that respect.

Of course, my judgment of the piece could be wrong.

The artist has an article about it at Big Hollywood. He explains his motivation for this work there.

Posted by: 2keyboards at March 10, 2009 10:45 AM

"politically it is OK to hate the white man" the statement almost seems to NOT support the politics referenced.

I would gladly go further than the artist and say, that the politics is f'ed up if it thinks it is OK to hate white people.

Moonbat bullshit. I think he would have made a much better point, had he used CSA battle flags. This is just a bad taste stab at America for his own benifit. I would be happy to oversee the proper disposal of those desecrated symbols of my country's greatest values. Would be happy to throw him onto a nice pile of sticks with his testicles in his mouth where he could watch the honorary proceedure while he roasted alive (from a respectable distance, of course).

So is it okay if we did this with the mexican flag or the flags of various commie nations? would the NEA give a grant for this?

Here's the link to the Big Hollywood posting on the artist and why he put the work up in the gallery. It's actually counter-moonbattery, and got virtually no support for it.

I think Mr. Obvious can figure out his motivation without any explaination.

He hates the very people who's tax dollars paid for this so called "artistic expression of moonbat hate". It's OK for a moonbat to express hatred for everything America stands for, but it's not OK for white Americans to express their opinions and feelings about their own country!

I'm actually siding with the artist on this one... read the article. As a conservative artist who has faced similar misdirected enmity, I can relate fully... Rush Limbaugh has often said that the best way to make a show of ridiculous things is to be as ridiculous as possible.

I once created a piece about the horrors of abortion and received a good deal of hate mail and threats because people thought the piece was intended to show sympathy for women who choose abortion. I don't really know how clay sculptures of hollow-headed babies with the backs of their necks slit open could be interpreted to be a plea for abortion rights, but some people read it that way.

Read up on Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal. It might change your minds.

Actually, he is quite the counter-moonbat. Here's a paragraph from the Bighollywood article:

The press my work received proved “POLITICALLY ITS OK TO HATE THE WHITE MAN” true. Through the use of the hatred and victimization that is still alive in this country, politicians and race baiting profiteers in the media constantly manipulate the system and the people through fear and intimidation for their own gain.

There's a second line also hidden in the piece: "It's ok for me to hate if I've been a victim".

Hard to miss the sarcasm here.

I'd love to know about the deep historical roots that 'hispanics' have in Atlanta. Go home.

I'm with the artist on this one, too. I have written pieces of satire and had dingbats think I was promoting what I wrote.
But I have to say that, like me, he failed for some. I think he could have got his message across better. You take big risks when you use revered symbols like flags.

I'm with most of the commenters; it IS politically OK to hate the white man, and considering the artist's work is usually patriotic, he's probably making a very daring observation. Because while it's ok to hate the white man, it's not ok for the white man to point that out.

It's conservatively subversive. Sort of like that statue of Obama that they drove through Iowa (or was it Ohio?) on a donkey, distributing palm leaves - it was more a mockery of the idiots worshiping at the guy's feet than it was actual worship itself.

I kind of hope they leave this one up. Cops aren't always very...er...smart. These couple probably don't get it.

"Eric at March 10, 2009 11:02 AM"

Piss on you for hating Southerners. We tried to form our own country (NOT over-throw the US government) because NEW ENGLAND had been violating the Constitution and threatening to SECEED for decades and we were tired of giving in and compromising to HOLD THE UNION TOGETHER, not to mention paying 70% of the Federal taxes!

Geeze, that sounds like what the CONSERVATIVES have been doing for years, doesn't it?

Posted by: KHarn at March 10, 2009 4:53 PM

Good on you VH. You jump to conclusions quickly, but at least you have the guts to admit you're wrong when you've been told several times that you're wrong.

Anon at 8:53PM-- You're not as clever as you think you are.

Posted by: Anonymous at March 10, 2009 10:02 PM

Came back to read the comments, when I found this I could not help but bring it back to the so called counter-moonbats.

I know its not a site you would go to but trust me you will LOVE this painting. I would not lie to you, the figure depicted is putin but how it is presented takes plenty of steam out of the Obama campaign rhetoric.

Speaking to Anon at march 10 10 02. How clever does he think he is, and how clever is he really and how do you know?

Posted by: cave ahht at March 11, 2009 1:11 AM

And to those who are miffed by the use of an American flag design, a sacred symbol, consider what it means to make a bikini using the star and bars. I read about some old guy say "that was the end, I knew it was over when I saw that."
Or something similar meaning the sacredness of the flag was not going to be intact in the next generations when its was wrapping ass here and now.

Free speech is free speech, and if I remember many of you are fond of your humor. So take the idea this artist should have his testicles burn and realize that would be against the constitution, not to mention the laws of these great American states. Talking to you Eric, so keep joking, ha ha!

One says this is hatred for everything America stands for, oh my, are we not exaggerating a little bit. Try and have a little perspective. Some of you are falling right in line with the second hidden message, which is also just another trap that minds fall into. Nobody is perfect, and in fact plenty of artists consider themselves counter liberal moonbats, even though their politics shares little with this site. You are reading the words of one, See what is painted on the cave walls . . . .

Atlanta's City Hall East is suppossed to be vacated by the city of Atlanta due to the Shirley Franklin's ineptitude and lack of smart budget planning. I hear it's gonna become condos. yeah! Atlanta is wallowing in debt and spending taxpayer $$$ on art. That's par for the course and it doesn't surprise me. Can we have some white folks run the city now since the past 20-30 years of Atlanta being run by black folks has been nothing short of a disaster? I'm not being racist, just pointing out a pattern with the 'black good 'ol boy cronyism network.
