Obama's Nominee for Key Post at Justice Department Was Johnny Taliban's Lawyer

Remember John Walker Lindh, the spoilt brat from moonbatty Marin County who went to Afghanistan to join the jihad? Osama bin Laden thanked him personally for his service to evil before he was captured on the battlefield by fellow Americans. In wiser times Johnny Taliban would have been promptly executed, but as Jane Fonda established, treason is no longer a crime we take seriously.

Even most lawyers wouldn't have the stomach to defend scum like Lindh. But San Francisco's Tony West was up for the job. He even got prosecutors to drop a restriction on Lindh's foreign travel, so that he could go visit Muslims' magic meteor in Mecca.

West has more unsavory work in his future. James Lileks reports:

Tony West is the President's nominee to head the Justice Department's Civil Division. If you want to know how far we are past 9/11, there's your answer: John Walker Lindh's defense attorney is going to work for Justice. I'm not saying he wouldn't do a perfectly competent job.

It just seems like one of those things that might have stuck out, once upon a time.

Incidentally, West helped raise $65 million for Chairman Zero's campaign.

America has truly been conquered from within.
