Obama: So What if Stock Market Is in a Tailspin?
In case you thought our Dear Leader might be the least bit worried about the $trillions of wealth that have evaporated since his catastrophic election:
Michael Goldfarb offers this analysis:
Sometimes it seems like our new president is just a little self-absorbed. I'm pretty sure that most Americans don't view the day to day fluctuations in the stock market, fluctuations that have wiped out half or more of their life savings, as anything like a tracking poll. And these numbers don't bob up and down. Since Obama's been in office they've bobbed only in one direction. The Dow has lost nearly 1,500 points in just over a month. If Obama's poll numbers had taken a dive like this during the campaign, nobody in Chicago would have been worried about the long-term strategy — they would have been worried about finding new jobs.
But the "long-term strategy" Comrade Obama mentions has nothing to do with the recovery of the market. On the contrary, the more completely they destroy our economy, the more powerful Democrats will become — or at least, that's the theory that has motivated Obama et al. to do everything they can to send investors running from the market in terror.
On tips from Karin and Kevin R.

His tie is askance and he's already started wagging his finger at us.
Too much pressure?

Every time that stupid SOB opens his mouth he provides more proof that he wants to collapse the economy.
Posted by: single stack at March 3, 2009 8:06 PM
You haven't even given his stimulus package a chance to work! Why not give him a fair chance before you condemn him. He hasn't even been in office for 100 days yet.
You are all just upset because an African American man is in the White House. That is where your antipathy towards the man stems from. It is a barely covert form of prejudice.
Obama is not a bad man. He is not a Muslim sympathizer (whatever that means) or crypto Muslim. He is not a Marxist. He is not a gun grabber. He is just a good, honest man with bold new ideas about American economic policy.
This culture of greed has not served us well. Doing things the way we have been doing them over and over, well isn't that insanity?
All of your paranoia is going to just come back and make you look a little foolish at the end of his term.

Tracking Pole. Yea, I'll show you a Tracking Pole, Mr. President, and suggest what you can do with it. Where the hell did my retirement and my kids' college funds go, MR. PRESIDENT?!?
I don't use the "Fu*ker" word much about people - in fact, I simply don't. Or didn't, until recently. I have used it continually for the last few weeks, every time The O-Messiah or his Dem collaborators open their pie holes and undermine our nation. I can't believe how mad I am at him, and the mindless Americans who voted him into office.

BO is a good for nothing butt knocker!

cave ahht,
Come out of your cave and face reality.
Obama IS a Marxist (read his books and examine his history) and if you take even a cursory look at his record in public office you'll see that he is very much a gun grabber.
He's a liar and a phony and there is nothing new about any of his ideas. Everything he's doing has been done before and it always, without exception, impoverished people.
Of course, the only reason anyone could oppose your messiah is racial prejudice, isn't it? The fact that he is a lying, socialist piece of shit couldn't possibly have anything to do with it.
The people opposing his statist agenda aren't the ones looking foolish.

Well cave ahht, there are many good cheap stocks to buy now that the stock market is on one of it's downs in the normal "up and down" of it's normal course. Put your money where your mouth is. Buy, buy, buy.
Don't let the market's "paranoia" frighten you or you'll "look a little foolish at the end of his term."
Posted by: Kevin R at March 3, 2009 9:16 PM
What am I going to buy those cheap stocks with, a credit card?
Fearless Leader (I'm old enough to remember when that was funny) Wants the goobermint to hold all the
stocks. Remember, he is a socialist, not a fascist.

Who are you, cave ahht, Obama's mother?
Because if you aren't, maybe you could tell us exactly how you "know" we're upset that Obama is not all white? That has to be the most stupid comment I have ever seen on this website. The man is a socialist, pure and simple. He doesn't care what he does to the economy, as long as he rams his socialist agenda down our collective throats. He's an empty suit and someone else is pulling the strings. People like you are the reason that this country is in a tailspin. You bought the snake oil this shyster was selling, and now you have to stick with him, because admitting you've been fleeced would be just too big a blow to your ego. Well, fine. Keep supporting this guy and watch your savings and possessions melt away. I really hope you're happy. The rest of us don't have to sit here and take this crap. I for one will vote for absolutely anyone who stands up against this fraud President and his little trained minions. We'll beat this guy at his own game and stop the swindle-us and budget bills before Obama sends the entire nation down the drain.

The Big "O" has maybe 6 months before the people begin to turn on him. There is a lack of confidence in him that increases daily since he has taken office. It can be measured in the stock market. He could become the first U.S. president to be led out of the White House in hand cuffs! No joke.

ahht, I don't care what color Obama is. He could be green, or magenta. I just want him to not open his naive, foolish mouth tomorrow so that the markets can stop collapsing. So far, his unfocused, meandering, nonsensical, disorganized economic plans, and his "take charge" stage presence combined with his utter inability to actually take charge, have cost American investors trillions of dollars. That's YOUR 401k along with mine.
What we most need is for Obama to go play hoops, smoke cigs, and do a little coke for a couple weeks and leave adults in charge to get this train back on the rails.

So far, since January 20th, The Dow curve has had a slope of -300 points per week, the biggest spurts occurring whenever a statement is issued. So far, we've seen only blue smoke. Not a word is said about the deteriorating markets. Its almost as if the destruction of this country's free market is the desired result.
Beginning April 1st, we're really going to start seeing the total effect of the hope and change sown by the conspiring tyrants Princess Puhwossi, and Price Hawey Weed. When the first of the new laws from this blue 111th congress would be expected commence operation.

I don't care for Obama myself, McCain is/was about the same suit for all I have seen.
But jeeze louise the whining. Who hasn't been burned by the market? Now or any other time?
This is a time to buy companys that show good fiscal sense, or to be more simple make money.

I disagree. This is a time to put in a good-till-cancel limit buy order on the S&P for when it hits 4000 and then go all in on the index. Stock-picking is fairly discredited at this point; the imperative is to wait for the whole market to be properly washed out with prices down to a level where markets can clear effectively. Another 280 pts to go on the S&P and we're there - it'll hardly matter what you buy as long as you buy SOMETHING. jmho

Mega you mean dow right not s&p right?

"Barbie is celebrating her 50th anniversary this year. A bill sponsored by Delegate Jeff Eldridge, D-Lincoln, HB 2918, would make it illegal to sell Barbie dolls “and other similar dolls that promote or influence girls to place an undue importance on physical beauty to the detriment of their intellectual and emotional development.”
Democrat Jeff Eldridge, D-Lincoln, said Barbie dolls have encouraged girls to value their physical appearance more than their education and intelligence. "

Yes, so true, Van Helsing, but the REALLY bad news is the latest Wall Street Journal poll, which are pretty reliable. NO ONE blames Obama for what's going on, HUGE confidence numbers in his social engineering plans, and they'll give him a two year pass. I guess this includes the other half of Americans who did not vote for him. That means a two year pass. In two years we could be gone. And there seems there is nothing we can do about it. People think this guy is terrific. Probably because college educations are finally starting to "work." We've now educated 3 generations - and counting - of kids who thing Marxism is not only "not so bad" but the answer. So good luck. Teas parties will do nothing - expect be laughed at on the nightly news - because the country seems to be insanely behind this guy.

What I find utterly amazing about the clown in the White House is his overwhelming hubris and narcissism. He truly believes that he is above all the 'little people' and is doing us a great favor by allowing us to listen to him spew his rambling bullshit. If you take away the teleprompter he is absolutely incoherent. When he has to actually meet with Putin he isn't going to have the teleprompter running and he will really show Putin who is the boss with his command of uh, uh, and um, um and ah, ah. Great communicator, as long as he doesn't have to answer impromptu questions that haven't been screened ahead of time.

Cave aaht - "Obama is a good, honest man"
Really? Then why did he lie about Bill Ayers being 'just a guy in the neighbourhood' - a lie Ayers himself exposed after the election?
Is that your idea of honesty?
