Fortunately there are. The four officers will have a funeral @ Oracle Stadium in Oakland. 20,000 are expected to attend. The service is open to the public.

Law enforcement agencies from all over the country will be in attendence, as well as covering the Oakland cops' shifts during the ceremony so they are free to attend.

Again with the broad stroke to paint communities. This is unfortunate, and the people are clearly misled into believing a conspiracy is in place to go after and shoot any African-American at a moments notice. Clearly, there are over zealous police officers allover the country. That said, we need members of every community to be aware of the job they are to do and the idiocy they face. Here in Detroit, while crime is and has always been high, shootings have been unwarranted at times, and the taser is sometimes treated as a toy light saber. A good example for these people is the stretch on I-96 where where the largely African-American community and the law enforcement worked together to honor 4 fallen officers. It is a wonderful display along the expressway. As a white man in Detroit, who voted for President Obama, I also expressed how important it was to educate yourself on voting, and reminded people that the bar has been raised. Hopefully the community and and the city of Oakland honor this officer properly.

It is common knowledge we bicker politics here. This post...not so much. I am bothered by the generalization of this post, but nonetheless, this is about our law enforcement. As I said,with the election of Barack Obama, I truly think the bar is raised for the African-American community. W/o arguing his policies (for now), it said alot for the country in terms of race. What we witness in many cases in what the supporters of Lovell Mixon, is again, a generalization of far too many people in the country. It was right around this time last year, a black Detroit man was driving, went into a diabetic seizure and was beaten for driving drunk, and tased. He is still hospitalized. There is no lawsuit to to fix his life. If the authorities wish to get serious about protesters like we watched in this video, the overzealous behavior in many departments needs to be addressed. I will try and find a photo for you guys of the tribute on I-96 that shows how our officers need support from our neighborhoods.

Hopefully the community and and the city of Oakland honor this officer properly.

To clarify, it's easy to see comments tossed around here and think we're characterizing the entire left based on the actions of a few. However, this site is devoted to the actions of the far left, the "moonbats." I would be the first to admit that there are many, many good folks on the left side of politics who are also extremely intelligent and want good things for our country.

This video does not show any of those people. The people in this video may have a legitimate beef with corrupt police officers and those who abuse their power. My suggestion is that they choose different timing to raise their issues. When a suspect in a rape and murder case shoots and kills four police officers, that is not the time to hold said suspect up as a martyr to your cause against police brutality. This piece of scum gets no sympathy from me, and his supporters in this video get nothing but my disdain and as much vitriol as I can muster.

In fact, they are detracting from and hampering much-needed, open discussions on the relationship of the police with the urban environment. It's a situation that is rife with controversy and failings on both sides, and events like the one in this video do nothing but worsen it and add fuel to the fire. That's not to say "the other side" is flawless, but their failings don't excuse any of this.

I have a B.A. in History, moron. Here's what I know:
1. While Martin Luther King Jr. did a lot of good in terms of empowering people to work towards racial harmony, he didn't do a very good job putting those convictions into practice in his own life. I mean, during the infamous Birmingham Civil Rights Demonstration, Dr. King was just sitting in his hotel room chilling out while his followers were the ones facing police dogs and water cannons for what they believe.
2. Malcolm X's death wasn't about his race, he wasn't killed by white supremacists. He was killed because he was leading people away from the Nation of Islam. See, towards the end of Malcolm's life, he converted from the Nation of Islam (The American black- nationalist cult) to mainstream Islam (The kind practiced in the Middle East) mainly due to two reasons: a) His pilgrimage to Mecca showed him that, contrary to the teachings of the Nation of Islam, there were indeed white people in the world who were good, decent people. b) He discovered that the NOI's leader/ founder, Elijah Mohammad, was a hypocrite and a fraud. So, Malcolm converted to mainstream Islam, and encouraged his followers to do the same. This enraged the higher members of the NOI, including Louis Farrakhan, who began preaching hatred of Malcolm. The hit men who assassinated Malcolm were all connected with the NOI, and it is widely believed that they were hired by Farrakhan.

They should put something in the Oakland water supply to steralize these filthy animals. Or better yet they should have flew a big crop duster over their demostration. These people are all a product of the welfare system and do nothing to contribute to society!!
