Katrina: A Glimpse of Our Post-American Future

It can't happen here? It already has:

If a hurricane was excuse enough for these outrages, imagine what will occur after the complete economic collapse that each unfundable spending bill brings closer — and with the sort of people who run New Orleans now in charge of the federal government.

On a tip from SK.

They'd better not try that in Idaho.

The moral of the story is to (wait for it)

Lie like a Democrat.

Wrong Way To Respond: "Why no Officer, there are not any high caliber weapons hidden in those two back compartments of the boat."

Correct Way To Respond: "Are you kidding! All those looters, over there where we just came from (point somewhere very far away), took everything we had, even our guns. We were lucky to get out of there with this boat. Hey, can you go and get our guns back for us?"

bawww...

I bet these guys acted like pretentious dicks to the cops, and that's why they got bent over the barrel.

("awww...

Tell me when this happens to you, when your "Tin God" takes your rights away, then I guess you can be a "pretentious dick" and it will be OK..Right? Because the Democrats did it....

Posted by: Unicorn Fart at March 18, 2009 3:57 AM

It's a shame that a bunch of these thugs stealing people's weapons didn't get killed.

Posted by: single stack at March 18, 2009 4:21 AM

When law abiding citizens are abused like this by the people that are SUPPOSED to be protecting them, its time for people to take a stand.

Its good the message is out by means of this video. Maybe it will get the publicity it deserves. Owning a gun is NOT a crime.

Remember kids: Guns don't kill people. People USE guns to kill people. Just like they use knives, cars, planes, baseball bats, crowbars, golf clubs, their bare hands, their feet, the list goes on. NO EXCUSE for taking law abiding citizens guns!

Guns do kill people. Don't forget the thousands of fatal accidents and impulsive suicides every year.

Posted by: Anonymous at March 18, 2009 4:41 AM

Also, this video effectively debunks one of the arguments in favor of the second amendment.

These folks had guns. Did it help them one little bit against government action? Even if they had been aggressive and opened fire at the first moment, would that have helped?

Prior to the industrial revolution, mass production and mass transportation it might have. Now? No way; an armed citizenry can never stand up to a state-sanctioned military force.

Posted by: Anonymous at March 18, 2009 4:45 AM

The Anonymous cowardly troll demonstrates the truism that leftists are perfectly fine with government crushing people's rights as long as "their people" are doing it.

"an armed citizenry can never stand up to a state-sanctioned military force."

I bet AnonCowTroll exploded in his pants as he typed that.

Posted by: V the K at March 18, 2009 4:49 AM

Cars kill twice as many people that guns do. Ban cars? Even "hyBIRDS" and ecocars kill. Even Renal (Kidney)failure kills more people than guns.

*NOTE: Firearms Statistics Include Gang Warfare, Self Defense Shootings and Criminals Killed by Police

"Guns do kill people. Don't forget the thousands of fatal accidents and impulsive suicides every year."

From the CDC's lates stats:

2005 - accidental firearms deaths, all ages = 789, or a rate of .27/100,000

2005 - accidental pedal cycle deaths, all ages = 700 or a rate of .24/100,000

2005 - accidental drowning deaths, all ages = 4917, or a rate of 1.66/100,000

2005 - accidental pedestrian deaths, all ages = 3582, or a rate of 1.21/100,000 drowning

In other words, firearms are about as safe as riding a pedaled bike, and 5-6 times safer than being a pedestrian and being water activities respectively.

If you want to talk "impulsive" suicide, firearms account for only about half of all suicides, and of those, most are males age 40 and over which means thsy are most likely not "impulsive", and that if someone wants to do themselves in, if there is no firearm, that person will find another way.

In short, "Anonymous", like all lefties, is bereft of facts, logic, and anything other than a childlike emotional response.

As usual.

I find it miraculous when people can quote me on things I don't actually say.

Taking property without receipt? That's theft. Go ahead and name any way in which gun ownership could have prevented it. (hint: remember Ruby Ridge)

What to do? Free speech (like the video!), citizen action, rallies, letter-writing, maybe a lawsuit. You know, something like a democratic republic?

"I bet these guys acted like pretentious dicks to the cops, and that's why they got bent over the barrel."

I know people who were in New Orleans when this was happening.
Whenever they approached anyone they had automatic weapons shouldered and aimed at the person. They were surly and rude and made it clear they would kill anyone who resisted being searched. Whenever they approached any house to search it they had automatice weapons shouldered and aimed as if they were approaching a terrorist hideout. They handcuffed anyone they found and forced them to the ground.
The police were using police state, totalitarian tactics as a matter of standard operating procedure.

Posted by: single stack at March 18, 2009 6:11 AM

New Orleans moron mayor RAY NAGIN and their police cheif oreered the confiscation of all guns then stored them in a leaky old trailer and allowed them to rust, frankly in my opion they should be finned $500 for each weapon and have their pay checks deducted 75% for being so stupid

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at March 18, 2009 7:40 AM

It is consistently amusing when left-wing trolls have their exact words quoted at them, then deny having said them.

Didn't say I was fine with it, didn't care which people were doing it, and my pants are quite unexploded as of this moment. (Hot date tonight. Here's hoping.) You did what most people do and listened to what you thought I was saying instead of what I actually said. I think it sucks, but it's real and it blows apart the whole idea that an armed citizenry would keep a corrupt government in check.

Go ahead, name any example of an armed resistance group in the past hundred years that managed to resist government power.

Posted by: Anonymous at March 18, 2009 9:41 AM

No way; an armed citizenry can never stand up to a state-sanctioned military force.

I know right! We totally shouldn't even try! We certainly shouldn't organize and join together. We should ignore warnings like the one in this video. Hell, we should just give up early!

In short, we should act just like the early colonial patriots. I mean, they were wise enough not to go to war against superior firepower and manpower. They knew it was hopeless to fight against the greatest world superpower at the time. They realized early on that basic human freedoms aren't worth risking total destruction and painful death.

/sarc (in case you needed it).

You're an idiot. Please stand aside when the real patriots in this country decide enough is enough and it's time to firmly defend our freedom and rights, even on your behalf.

Go ahead, name any example of an armed resistance group in the past hundred years that managed to resist government power.

It's a good thing you included that "hundred years" restriction. You might have to actually acknowledge the birth of our nation.

Posted by: cowlove at March 18, 2009 9:43 AM

And yet fascist states like the Soviet Union, China, Britannistan, and Illinois are hell-bent on disarming the populace. Strange that they would do that unless they felt threatened by the people's ownership of the means of resistance.

Posted by: V the K at March 18, 2009 11:01 AM

"Go ahead, name any example of an armed resistance group in the past hundred years that managed to resist government power."

As I recall, the Russians were run out of Afghanistan by a bunch of poorly armed rebels.

The governments of several African nations have been toppled by poorly armed rebels.

How many South American nations have fallen because of poorly armed rebels?

I seem to remember that even the U.S. military was forced out of South Vietnam.

Historically, organized armies do not fare well with gorilla warfare.

"Athens Tennesee, 1946"

Interesting, haven't heard of that one before. Sounds like an excellent example.

"The Warsaw Ghetto, WWII"

That one was brutally crushed, try again.

The rest of examples are of resistance against occupation by foreign powers, often with significant backing by another foreign power.

Well, if it ever goes down, game on.

It will be one hell of a bloody mess.

One nice thing on the moderate and conserative side of the equasion is we have just trained an entire generation of skilled warriors who are living in every comunity in the US.

Stop moving the goalposts. Your request for examples was met with several, enough said.

Even if there were no examples to be given, this isn't a court room. We don't depend on precedence to determine our course for the future. Americans are 300 million strong and we're the best armed citizenry in the world. We also have the benefit of patriotic military members. Google Oathkeepers.
